Quick notes: The Blue Bayou background layer, both Soft Sky scalloped circles and the linen tape were all sponged with Blue Bayou ink. I used two layers of foam dimensionals when adhering the right side of the scalloped circles to compensate for the thickness of the ribbon and the fact that the Blue Bayou background layer had also been adhered with dimensionals. Other than that it was actually a very simple card. Enjoy!

Ummm... So what is the the "smooshing" technique? It's actually pretty simple but does require a couple of items:
- Clear plastic report cover (one of those cheap plastic ones that are kind of floppy)
- Two different ink pad colors
- Glossy white cardstock
Quick card notes: Pumpkin Pie ink was sponged onto the edges of the Blush Blossum cardstock. I also added a little more color to the center of the stamped flower image with a Regal Rose marker.

Supplies used: Doodle This stamp set; It's Your Birthday stamp set; Rose Red, Blush Blossum and glossy white cardstock; Pumpkin Pie, Rose Red and Black StazOn ink pads; Regal Rose marker; Dazzling Diamonds glitter and 2-Way Glue Pen; Lt. Pink Gingham and Narrow White Organdy (retired) ribbons; plastic report cover and brayer.

Quick notes: I wheeled the card base with the Spot On wheel using Blue Bayou ink. The zebra was watercolored using blender pens and ink from the Blue Bayou, Soft Sky, Pretty in Pink and Purely Pomegranate ink pads. I then coated the zebra with Crystal Effects and trimmed the image after it completed drying. I stamped the sentiment on a piece of Soft Sky cardstock, sponging the edges with Blue Bayou ink. After which I used the paper piercer and mat pack paper piercing guide to poke seven holes. I placed vintage brads in every other hole to complete the look.

Quick notes on the card: I stamped the flowers on Almost Amethyst and colored with a Lavender Lace marker. Then I punched out the image with the scallop circle punch. After that I used the paper piercer to poke a little hole in each scallop. The vase and single flowers were stamped on Naturals white cardstock, colored with markers and then cut out with scissors. The egeds of the Lavender Lace and Certainly Celery prints designer paper were sponged with Always Artichoke ink.

But back to the important stuff... the card details! Quick notes: the flowers were stamped in white craft ink and then heat set. After that I added a little bit of Dazzling Diamonds glitter to highlight some of the flowers. The edge of the Wild Wasabi "charm" focal point was sponged with Blue Bayou ink. The Soft Sky, Blue Bayou and Wild Wasabi layers were also sponged with Blue Bayou ink.

The first card has a stocking colored with watercolor wonder crayons and accented with dazzling diamonds. I took a closeup of the stocking so you can see the glitter and coloring in detail.
Quick notes: the Barely Banana scalloped edge is actually six 1/2" circles which were adhered to the Certainly Celery Prints designer paper. After that the paper piercer was used to poke a hole in each circle. The Coluzzle cutting system was used to cut out the Brocade Blue oval. Card dimensions are 6.5" x 3.25".

Quick notes: card dimensions are 6.5" x 3.25". Used the corner rounder (with the guard removed) to create the scalloped edge on the Soft Sky designer paper. Also the flower is actually mounted with a brad onto a small circle of cardstock. I then adhered the circle pied onto the card base using Stampin' dimensionals.

I had to fiddle with this second card a lot. It took a while before I was happy with the look. Add this, remove that... oops put that back... but in the end I think it works.

The first card is a cat card... I could not resist ordering the new Here Kitty stamp set and after using it tonight I have no regrets making it one of first new catalog purchases.
Quick notes: the cat was stamped with Black StazOn on Naturals Ivory cardstock and then watercolored using Close to Cocoa and Chocolate Chip watercolor wonder crayons and a blender pen (WWCs for future reference). I then stamped the hat and mouse on Whisper White cardstock and used Taken With Teal, Garden Green, Cameo Coral and More Mustard WWCs to color the images. The hat was cut out with paper snips and the mouse was punched out with the 3/4" circle punch. They were then adhered to the cat using Stampin' dimensionals. Next the sentiment "happy birthday from the cat" was stamped repeatedly on a piece of Purely Pomegranate cardstock in Close to Cocoa.

Supplies used: Here Kitty stamp set; Purely Pomegranate, Blue Bayou, Close to Cocoa, Naturals Ivory and Whisper White cardstock; Black StazOn and Close to Cocoa stamp pads; Close to Cocoa, Chocolate Chip, Taken with Teal, Garden Green, Cameo Coral and More Mustard WWCs; Blender Pen; 3/4" circle punch; Purely Pomegranate double stitched grosgrain ribbon; Stampin' dimensionals.
The second card used one of the flowers from the new Pretties Kit which includes flowers, beads, hat pins, rhinestone brads... it is great. I'm actually amazed that I used pieces from it instead of hoarding them forever, unwilling to part with them. It took me months before I could use more than the brads from my hodgepodge hardware.
I "dyed" the flower using Cameo Coral and Purely Pomegranate inks. By dyed, I mean that I squashed the white flower against the stamp pad to soak up color. A little messy but I like the results and it gets easier with practice (hint... guess what you will see more of tomorrow!).
Quick Notes: you may not see it, but I added a little glitter to parts of the Baroque Motifs flourish using a Sakura Quickie Glue pen. There is also sponging on the edges of the Pretty in Pink cardstock (Cameo Coral ink) and paper piercing on two of the corners. The card dimensions are 4.25" x 4.25".

Quick notes: all edges have been sponged with More Mustard, except for the flowers which were sponged with Elegant Eggplant. And the card layout was inspired by a sample on page 19 of the new Fall~Winter Collection.

In other news I got new stamps tonight (and some ribbon and a Pretties kit)... my new catalog order arrived! Woo hoo! No, I haven't stamped anything with them yet... I had to trim and mount them (ouchy fingers), so tomorrow I get to play and make some new cards. :) And now I need to go and drool over my new goodies. Anybody got a bib I could borrow?

P.S. The sign at the garden said the name of the plant is: Agave Americana, located in Mejico. Sorry I don't know the English translation of that (other than it is from Mexico).

So how do you create a shaker card? First off start with a base layer that has a focal image stamped on it (in this case a pink flower). Next create a barrier/wall around the image using foam mounting tape or the long edge pieces from your Stampin' dimensionals, making sure there are no gaps or your beads will leak out. Then pour some beads into your foam enclosure (be careful if using micro beads since they have a tendency to try to escape). Then add a layer of acetate or a piece of cellophane on top of that which will enclose your beads and allow the base image to be viewed. Finally add a layer of cardstock with a circle or square punched out of it (this hides the foam walls and creates a window). This completes the shaker box which can now be adhered to a card, scrapbook page or other craft project. Have fun!
Just a note... if using larger beads (bigger than micro beads) you might need to use two layers of foam tape. I found with only one layer my non-micro beads would stick and quit shaking... sticky beads are a total bummer!

The first card: I didn't really like the first card I made today, so I redid it and came up with this one instead (something a little off in the original colors I used).
Quick tips on this card: It uses the Joy Fold Card Pattern which you can check out a tutorial for on Beate's blog. I also used sponge daubers dabbed onto ink pads to color the centers of the flowers.

Supplies used: Double Line Doodles stamp set; Hugs and Wishes stamp set; Mellow Moss, Blue Bayou, Soft Sky, Always Artichoke and Naturals white cardstock; Black StazOn, Apricot Appeal, Mellow Moss, Blue Bayou and Soft Sky stamp pads; Soft Sky Print designer series paper; Sponge Daubers; Vintage brads (old style) and white narrow organdy ribbon (retired).
The second card: This was a really quick card using the new Baroque Motifs stamp set. It went quite a bit faster than the first card (especially since I did not redo it!).

The third card: I just love these little vases and flowers... they are so much fun to color!

Quick notes: I colored the butterflies with markers and then coated with Crystal Effects to give them a shiny 3D look. The title "A New Deck" was stamped in Versamark and then coated with Whisper White embossing powder and heat embossed. Then I drew a butterfly trail with a white gel pen. I used one of Stampin' Up!'s fonts and then used my laser printer to print the paragraph at the bottom on whisper white cardstock.
