A Fall Themed B-day Card

Fall must be on my mind lately because I have been using a lot more greens and browns in my projects lately. Or maybe I'm just thinking about chocolate... which could definitely be the case! :)

This card was inspired by Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge. I love these sketches. They provide a nice boost in my creativity when I am experiencing Stamper's Block. What is Stamper's Block? A very serious illness whose main symptom is a desire to avoid being in your craft area (oh horros!). Luckily it can be cured with a trip to the local Michael's or Joann's or by placing a Stampin' Up! order... and I suffer from it soooo frequently .

But to get back on track, I used one of my new stamp sets (on sale right now!) to make a rather masculine birthday card. Which is probably a good thing because I never seem to have a guy card on hand when I need one. You can read on for the step-by-step directions for making this card or just skip to the bottom for a list of ingredients. If you like the very detailed instructions below, please let me know and I will try to do this in the future.

Step by Step directions: For the card base use a 10.5" x 5.25" piece of Chocolate Chip cardstock folded in half. Cut a 5" x 5" piece of Brocade Blue cardstock and a 1" x 5" piece of Bordering blue cardstock. Stamp the Sanded background on both pieces in VersaMark. Sponge all edges with Brocade Blue Classic Ink. Adhere the Bordering Blue layer to the Brocade blue layer and then glue a small piece of Chocolate Chip Taffeta ribbon over the Bordering Blue Piece and add a brad. Add some paper piercing to both the upper left corner and the lower right corner and adhere to the cardbase.

For the main image cut a 2.75" x 4" piece of River Rock cardstock. Using Always Artichoke Classic Ink stamp a leaf from Autumn Fest. Use the distressing tool from the Cutter Kit to distress the edges and the Ticket Corner Punch to dimple the corners. Then sponge the edges first in Always Artichoke Classic Ink and then again with Chocolate Chip Classic Ink. Wrap a piece of Chocolate Chip Taffeta around the leaf and knot. Next using Chocolate Chip and Close to Cocoa markers color directly on the acorn stamp and then stamp it on Whisper White cardstock. Punch the acorn out using the 1" circle punch and adhere over the ribbon with Stampin' Dimensionals. Next cut a 3" x 4.25" piece of Always Artichoke cardstock and mount the main image on this. Add gold brads to all corners except the lower left. Using Stampin' dimensionals adhere this to the card base.

Then use the Birthday Wishes stamp from Circle of Friendship and stamp with Chocolate Chip Classic Ink on Whisper White cardstock. Punch out with the 1" circle punch and layer on a 1 1/4" circle of Chocolate Chip cardstock which was also cut using a circle punch. Then affix to the card with more Stampin' dimensionals.
