Ack! Attack of the Little Birdies!

Well, maybe the title is a little over the top, but by the time I was done making 15 of these cards I was starting to dislike this little bird... just a bit. Probably didn't help that I decided to stamp the bird on Soft Sky and then cut the bird out... that's a lot of trimming (and some tired fingers)! Hopefully the ladies in my swap group (Great Swaps!) like them though, after all, that is what really matters :)

To the details: Stamp larger bird and hat from A Little Birdie Told Me on Whisper White cardstock with Black StazOn ink. Just a note... a dry ink pad does not help when you are stamping 15 birdies * 2 (don't forget the Soft Sky ones I mentioned before). Many a birdie was stamped as an amputee... not really the look I was trying for so those poor birdies had to take a trip to the circular filing bin (aka garbage can). Next color the hat: I used a Blender Pen to pick up Soft Sky and Blue Bayou Classic ink from the lids of the ink pads since there are no markers in these colors (rats!). Bling time! Add some Dazzling Diamonds glitter to the party hat (can't party without some glitter!). I used Sakura Quickie Glue Pen as the adhesive. Not done yet, the birdie needs something to stand on so create a mask by punching a small oval from vellum cardstock. Place the vellum over the bird with the opening where you want a shadow and sponge on some Soft Sky Classic ink (easy peasy). We are now at the fun part! Stamp the birdies again on Soft Sky and cut out (this gets a little boring). Go ahead and chop the legs off as you go, that's why they were stamped on the Whisper White first... just for the legs. Adhere blue birdies to white birdies... no tricks here. Finish off this layer by matting first on Soft Sky and then again on Blue Bayou cardstock.

There is more... cut a piece of Fall Flowers Designer paper and mat on Wild Wasabi cardstock. Add some brads to the corners. Next use the slot punch to create an opening on the top left side of this layer, but low enough that it will be covered up when you add the birdie. I actually punched twice to make the slot a little wider. Thread ribbon through the holes before adhering to the card base with dimensionals and then wrap ribbon around card and knot. Finish off by stamping a sentiment on Soft Sky and punching out with the larger oval punch. Affix the sentiment to the card with brads. Woo hoo! Done! :)

Other: Dazzling diamonds glitter, Sakura Quickie Glue Pen, Wild Wasabi and Blue Bayou double-stitched ribbon, silver brads, small and large oval punches, Stampin' dimensionals, slot punch, sponge, blender pen.

*Edited: To fix a typo... wouldn't be surprised if there are more though!
