Pretties Thursday Challenge: Number 50!

Wow! I can't believe this is the 50th Pretties Weekly Challenge! The weeks sure have passed quickly. To celebrate I had to select another sketch challenge (my favorite)!

For my sample I decided to use the soon to be released Canadian Girl Sophia! Isn't she fabulous? Woot - now I have a Sophia I can use when sending cards to my neighbors up North! I grew up in Sault Ste. Marie, MI and used to live only a block away from the St. Mary's River... needless to say I could take a very short walk and see Canada! :)

Pretties Wednesday: Bright and Patriotic!

Two weeks ago I challenged the Prettie Girls to make a non-A2 sized card. The majority of the time I make A2 (4 1/4" x 5 1/2") cards but every once of the time I like to switch it up just a bit! :)

For my card I used an 3 1/4" x 6" card base made from Aqua Mist cardstock and the soon to be released Lady Liberty Sophia. I colored Sophia with Copic markers and accented her crown with a gold glitter pen. I had to make her look real... I just couldn't color the whole image mint green! Just couldn't! Also, I was in the mood for bright and cheerful colors so I added some bright Raspberry Fizz designer paper from PTI. So what do you think of Sophia? Do you LOVE her?

So Very Excited!

Did you see THIS POST on The Paper Clip?! Yay! I am so very very excited about this new opportunity and to finally be able to share the news with you! Hmmm... still not sure what I'm talking about and you haven't visited The Paper Clip? Okay, I'll spill! I am now illustrating stamps for Paper Pretties!!!! Yes - it is true!

The new stamps will be released under a new line called Fat Cat Stamps and the first set will be released May 1st! Woot! Are you excited to see my first set? I'd love to show it to you today but you will have to wait just a little longer. On the 1st we are kicking the day off with a Fat Cat Blog Hop beginning at Christie's blog: Little Pink Flowers showcasing my new set. Woot! Can't wait to see what you think!

End of the Weekend

Wow, it seems like this weekend just flew by so quickly! I've been stamping like crazy but those projects are super duper secret... at least until May 1st when Paper Pretties is having their next Release Party! :) In the meantime I have this project that I made for the last party for Charmaine's challenge to make card using a fancy fold to share!

Quick notes: I used next month's SOTMC image (Make a Splash Sophia) and the Shadow Box Card Tutorial from SplitCoast and whipped up this card!

Here is a closeup so you can see the fun depth of this type of card. The great thing is that it will flatten down so that you can mail it! Of course that would be easier if you cut down on the layering... which I did not do! :)

Speaking of the next Release Party... on Friday May 1st Paper Pretties will be having their monthly Stampin In Your Jammies party!! The party starts at 6pm CDT and will last until 9pm. We will be issuing a challenge every hour so be sure to come and play along!! Besides the challenges, chatter, and all around fun, we will also be releasing Hola Chica, TWO new Sophias, re-releasing Rainy Day Friend in RUBBAH, and we will have a BRAND new set from a BRAND new artist!! So you ever make a card and just love how it turned out? Well, I really really like this one! I think it is the colors and maybe its warm weather vibe!

But you didn't come here for the gushing... or maybe you did?! :) Hee... anyways I made this for Jana's challenge from two weeks ago to try a new technique... a new technique... yikes! Splitcoast to my rescue. I surfed their resource page and found a tutorial called Crimped Envelope Pocket Card. Perfect!

Happy Day Bunny

I spent yesterday afternoon and evening with a couple of friends stamping away the day! Yay! I had oodles of fun and actually made some cards. Double Yay!

This is the first of the cards that I created - using a set called Animal Crackers that I bought not too long ago but hadn't used at all. I stamped the cute little bunny in Memento Tuxedo Black on PTI Select white cardstock and colored with Copic markers (didn't need a ton of coloring though!).

Now I need to run and do some chores... all the ones I didn't do yesterday 'cause I was stampin' instead! :)

Hmmm... apparently I should print off my own sketch after making it because I did deviate just a bit from it when making my card. Not very much though! :)

For my card I used Falling For You Sophia. She is doing a bit of Spring yard cleanup - raking all those leaves that were missed last fall! Oh what fun! ;)

Quick notes: Sophia was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Ink and then die cut with a cirlce Nestie. While the die was still in place I airbrushed blue ink around the edges of the circle. I then finished by coloring the image with Copic markers. The sentiment is from the SU! Chit Chat rubons set.

Pretties Wednesday: Birthday Hop!

If you haven't guessed the Prettie Girls have hijacked the normal Pretties Wednesday schedule to wish Jana a happy birthday. We're throwing a super bright birthday blog hop for Jana... and it had to be bright and summery since that was the challenge Charmaine issued a couple weeks ago. For my card I used yellow for warmth and sunlights and some shardes of Turquoise to mimic a bright summer sky! :)

Cluck Cluck!!

I spent a bit of time in my craft room stamping yesterday... just a little bit but it was enough to make another birthday card using this super cute chicken stamp!

I went with a bright and cheery color scheme and paired the paper with some fun buttons, embossing and ribbon. Lots and lots of texture for this card! The chicken was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then colored with Copic markers. I added sponging to all of the layers and a bit of paper piercing.

And a closeup of the cake... I colored with Copics and then applied a layer of Ranger Crackle Accents and let dry. The picture doesn't do it justice... too much glare. I really need to work on my picture taking setup - I do believe I need a second light source... especially since I usually take my pictures at night time. Not that you can tell that from when I post my projects, right? Nothing like midnight bloggin! ;)

Happy Easter

At the last Paper Pretties Pajama party Charmaine challenged everyone to make an Easter treat! I thought today would be the perfect day to share the little tin that I decorated.

I started with an 8 oz square clear top tin and covered the base with some Good Morning Sunshine designer paper. Just a note: the lid will not fit on over paper so leave the top 1/2" of the bottom uncovered. I punched another strip of the designer paper with a Fleur De Lis edge punch and adhered to the base. After that I added some rhinestones - 1 per fleur de lis.

For the top I covered the outside edge with some polytwill ribbon. I stamped Ballerina Sophia on PTI Select white and colored with Copic markers before diecutting with a Nestie circle die. I layered her on a slightly larger petite scalloped circle in Chocolate Chip and then added 3 clear crystal brads. This matted image was then adhered to the outside of the tin top with dimensionals. To finish I painted some Shimmerz onto Sophia's tulle skirt.

For the inside of the lid I adhered a petitie scalloped circle in Summer Sun with dimensionals (make sure they don't show through to the other side. I then stamped the sentiment on PTI Select white, die cut and mounted on a petite scalloped circle in Chocolate Chip. Like the front of the tin I added some clear crystal bards and adhered to the tin with dimensionals.

So Blue for You!

Spring that is! I'm ready for warmer temperatures and Spring flowers! In the meantime (while sitting here shivering and wearing a sweater)... here is a sweet and simple card that I made with a recently purchased Anna Wight cling set: Fish Friends. :)

Quick notes: I stamped the main image twice and colored both. I airbrushed the background of the first image (blue sky and green grass) and then from the second image cut out the flower top and the leaf. The cutout pieces were adhered over the first image with dimensionals.

For the matting I used some pretty Wild Asparagus designer paper. The green layer is actually the back side of the patterned paper. After cutting all of the layers I destressed all of them with a edge distressing tool. To accent the card I used some Twill Tape and a Kraft Corduroy brad. I love those corduroy buttons and brads... now if only I could quit hoarding them!

Pretties Thursday Challenge: Wonderfully Woven!

Are you ready for another Paper Pretties challenge? Yes?! I thought so! This week the challenge is to work weaving into your project some way some how. Huh?! You are not sure what to do for this one? Well, I have a bunch of ideas to get you started:

1. Paper Weaving - weave some strips of paper (or ribbon) together to create a woven mat and use as a background.
2. How about making your own basket? SplitCoast has some great tutorials on woven baskets that you can see here and here.
3. Fill a woven basket with some goodies and add a decorated tag... yup this counts! :)
4. Have a funky woven ribbon? That works too! :)

For my project I wove a couple mats together and used them to decorate a little goodie bag (sadly I am lacking in candy to fill it with at the moment).

Notes on the paper weaving for my bag: I cut 10 strips of 3/4" x 4 1/8" cardstock - five of which were cut from Bashful Blue and the other five from Brocade Blue. I sponged the edges of all the strips with Not Quite Navy Classic ink. I then wove the pieces together aligning the ends and corner pieces. I tacked the topmost ends of the strips in place with Glue Dots. I then added some extra stick adhesive to the back and layered the woven mat to a 4 1/4" square of Chocolate Chip. I repeated the above steps to create a second woven mat that is used for the back of the bag. The handles are two 3/4" x 11" pieces of Chocolate Chip cardstock. I also created a 2" (deep) x 4" (high) x 4" wide bag from more brocade blue cardstock. The woven mats were decorated as necessary and then attached to the bag with Sticky Strip (attach the handles first).

Here is the back of the bag. I didn't add any other decorations to this side so you can really see the weaving in all of its glory. :)

Pretties Wednesday: You're Tee-rific

So I had a momentary lapse of brain power last night and forgot which day of the week it was... thus my very late Pretties Wednesday card. :)

Two weeks ago the fabulous Jules issued a sketch challenge. I do like a sketch challenge so this was perfect! I decided to use one of the newly released sets: Right on Par. I paper pieced the pants and colored the rest of the image with Copic markers. That dere is one handsome lookin' Luke! :)

I've had this cute Whipper Snapper stamp for a while and had yet to touch ink to it. Poor lil' chicken was feeling neglected so I applied a bit of ink added some color and finished with a touch of glitter. Woot! Oh happy chicken! :)

Pretties Wednesday: On the Petite Side

Two weeks ago Frances challenged the Prettie Girls to make an Artist Trading Card! I love these little cards... they are perfect for using up a bunch of little scraps! :)

For my card I used Hola Chica. Umm... last month's SOTMC image that I was supposed to put away until next month when she is released to the public. But I oopsied and used her by mistake for today's challenge. Oops.
