Splash of Fun on a Sunday!

Hey crafty peeps! Paper Pretties is having another release party tomorrow, here are all the deets:

On Monday, June 1st Paper Pretties will be having their monthly Stampin In Your Jammies party!! The party starts at 8pm EST and will last until 10pm. We will be issuing only one challenge, so be sure to come and play along!! Before I run off to clean the house and do some yard work here is a summery sneak peek for you. Enjoy! :)

Trip Notes

I found some really nice little books at Michael's in the dollar bin. They came with a monogram on the front cover but that is easy enough to cover! I turned the first notebook into a Trip Notes book... perfect for jotting down all the places you've been and seen while traveling.

To decorate the notebook I crocheted a flower using some DMC pearl thread (took a few tries before I found a flower pattern that I liked!). I then paired the flower with some green buttons from Rusty Pickle and fun chipboard Thickers. For the cityscape I stamped an image from MFT on Kraft paper and dabbed all the little windows with Platinum Stickles.

And here is the flower up close - I'm loving these flowers and need to make more! Hopefully you won't get sick of seeing them. :)

I'm posting this a bit late tonight as I work on catching up with things. I had to spend a bit of extra time at The Job this week which meant less time to craft although I had to take a break tonight and make a card for this week's Paper Pretties' challenge. Enjoy!

For my sample I paired the sweet watering can with a sentiment from the Rainy Day Friends stamp set. I picked some designer paper and used the colors from it to determine the color scheme for the rest of the card. What do you think? I'm liking this color combo a lot!

Pretties Wednesday: White and More White

Two weeks ago Jackie P. challenged the Prettie Girls to make a card that is all white except the main image. My first reaction went a little like this: "WHAT?!" and then I rembered that I had some white ribbon and white buttons which made everything better! :)

Pink and Brown challenge

I've been playing in a challenge or two over at Stampin' Out Alzheimer's site! This first card is for one of the challenges that the fab Jodi is cohosting: to use brown and pink and exactly two embellishments. I of course had to use ribbon and some pretty buttons! :)


Quick notes: I stamped the flower from One of Kind in Chocolate Chip Classic ink three times on Pretty in Pink and another three times on Pink Piroutte. I trimmed the flower parts and sprayed with Glimmer Mist. I sponged the edges with more Chocolate Chip Classic ink. To finish I sewed buttons to the inner flowers and adhered the layers using dimensionals.


Here is a closeup so you can see how the flowers glimmer. The are even more sparkly up close and in person! The background paper is some extra sparkly butterfly paper by SEI... very very pretty!

Spring blooms

Hi crafty peeps!

I spent a few minutes crafting today and came up with this card that reminds me of a bunch of pretty Spring blooms.

Notes: I paired the Guidelines stamp set from Papertrey Ink with a sentiment set from Stampin' Up! I thought it would make for a sweet birthday card or maybe a wedding card.

Blog Candy Winner

Pretties Thursday Challenge: One, Two and Three

It's Thursday which means that I get to issue another Paper Pretties Weekly Challenge. This week it is a 1-2-3 Challenge! You need to make a card using one piece of ribbon, two buttons (or brads) and three layers! Anything else goes! :)

For my sample card I used the extra fun Hola Chica Sophia image and paired her with some fun Basic Grey designer paper! I colored the image with various Copic markers and added a bit of glitter to the fruit with a Clear Spica glitter pen.

Pretties Wednesday: Fat Cat Colorful

Two weeks ago Jodi challenged the Prettie Girls to make a card using: Apricot Appeal, Baja Breeze and Pacific Point. Woot! Fat Cat Stamps colors - yay! :)

I decided to give you a break from the house cards and instead used the next SOTMC image: Give Thanks Sophia! I stamped Sophia with VersaMark on Naturals Ivory cardstock and then heat set with black embossing powder. I painted Sophia's dress, bow and flower with Shimmerz paints. To finish I colored the rest of the image with Copic markers. Ummm... Copic markers do not play nicely with embossing powder. Just thought I would share that! ;)

Orange House!

This is one of the cards I made for the last release party and had yet to share on my blog. Doh! One of the challenges Charmaine issued was to use the following color combo: Tangerine Tango, Chocolate Chip and Kraft. Orange? Definitely not my favorite color but I do like how this card turned out!

Would you believe that I grew up in an orange house? It is true! Apparently my dad got a really good deal on some paint at the local hardware store. Hee hee! Maybe that has something to do with my aversion to the color? Or maybe it has something to do with being a Big Ole Pumpkin for Halloween when I was a kid. Three years in a row at that... I wasn't very creative when it came to Halloween costumes! LOL! :)

Quick note: the clear daisy was cut from a thick window sheet using a Sizzix die and the Big Shot die machine.

Eye Candy and Blog Candy

I don't have a card to share with you on this post but I do have a picture of some pretty pink blossoms. This is a shot I took of a tree in my front yard... and no I don't know what kind of tree it is (blush). If you know please educate me! :) If it helps there is some kind of fruit/berry in the fall... birds seem to like them!

As pretty as the flowers are I do have another reason for this post... BLOG CANDY! Yay! I have a bunch of goodies to give away to one lucky winner. Some pretty May Arts ribbon (~2 yards of six different kinds including some yummy purple velvet ric rac), Botanical Blooms SAB stamp set from SU!, Welcome Baby clear stamp set, 12 - 8" x 8" sheets of American Crafts textured Pearlescent paper, 12 - 6" x 6" sheets of SU! designer paper and a couple of cards made by me. For my sample I decided to use the apartment building from Home Sweet Home. Have you ever heard of a Facebook app called Sorority Life? I'm addicted to that game and it inspired the theme for this card... it is a house party... pink sorority style... hee hee.

I sprayed a bunch of the layers with Glimmer Mist for some extra oomph! I also distressed the mats with Close to Cocoa ink and an edge distressor.

Two weeks ago Jackie R. issue a Prettie Girl Challenge to pick your favorite color and use one shade darker and one lighter. Well, I love BLUE so I made an extra blue card using Ballet Blue, Bashful Blue and Night of Navy Blue! I did add a couple of green accents so that the card wasn't 100% blue though! :)

Simple and Shimmery

Lately I seem to be in a mood to make everything sparkle! It might have something to do with the brand new bottles of Shimmer Mist I added to my collection recently! :)

For this shimmery card I tock a piece of black and white designer paper from PTI and sprayed it with Riptide Glimmer Mist. Since I'm the impatient type I zapped it with my heat tool so it would dry fast! Next I stamped a butterfly from Verve on PTI Select White cardstock and colored with Copic markers. But something was missing... yes, more sparkle is needed! This time I used Angel Wings Shimmerz that was painted onto the colored butterfly and then set aside to dry - luckily Shimmerz has a very quick setting time! Woot!

To finish I added a sentiment, some satin-y black ribbon and a bit more bling! It ended up being a very quick card to make. So what do you think? Too much sparkle? ;)

It's a Bling-y Birthday Post!

Woot! Fellow Prettie Girl Christi is turning a year older today so the Prettie Girls decided to do a blog hop to celebrate her special day! The blog hop started with Christie (aka Prettie Mama) so make sure to skedaddle over to her blog if you didn't come here from hers.

To celebrate I decided to break out my sparkling finery! I used some extra shimmery and flocked paper as well as a few rhinestones. Meeeoooooowwwssssaaa! ;) I was also in the mood for soft tones so paired the pretty paper with a lot of white and a bit of Cool Caribbean. The finished card size is 5" x 5". What do you think? While looking through my stamps the Flirty Fortunes set practicually jumped out of the pile and screamed "PLEASE USE ME!" - so I did! :) I paired it with some pretty Karen Foster designer paper I bought a couple weeks ago and some oh so shiny rhinestones!

Hoot Hoot Happy!

I received this owl set a week or so ago and finally had some time to play with it last night! Nothing like new stamps to motiviate me to visit the crafty room!

For the first card I used the CAS (Clean And Simple) sketch posted to SplitCoast for this week. I wasn't aware of this sketch until I saw THIS eye-catching card by Kristin. Wow! I loved everything about her card and the layout was so much fun that I had to try my hand at it.

Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copic markers.

Since I had my new stamp set at hand I decided to make another quick and fast card. I stamped the limb and then an owl on top of it. However I wasn't quit happy with how the feet overlapped the branch so I stamped the owl a second time on PTI Select White cardstock, colored with Copics and trimmed. I then adhered the second owl over the first with a dimensional. That fixed the feet! :)

I added just a touch of sparkle to the rims of the eyes with a Copic Spica pen (I really really like these pens - although I think I need a new clear one).

I'm thinking this will be the perfect b-day card for my dad. Now just to find a gift to go with it! :D

Prettie Mama Had a Birthday!

Christie, the owner of Paper Pretties had a birthday last Friday and to celebrate the first challenge at the Release Party was to make a birthday card for her. Too fun! I used Hola Chica and some extra bright Lime Rickey designer paper to create this colorfun concoction! Not my normal color combination but I do like how it turned out! :)

Moving... Moving!

JUST A REMINDER: Blog candy available on THIS POST!

I said I would be back with a card set and this is it! I made this with my sister-in-law in mind. My brother and his wife (and kiddos) are buying a house and I though the sil could use a couple of cards to mail to family and or friends! If I gave them to my brother I think they would just collect dust! :) He can take a peek at them though! LOL!

I'll start with the packaging. After making the cards I thought a pretty container to hold them was in order. I started with a Crystal Clear Box (purchased from clearbags.com) and wrapped a piece of designer paper around the bottom half and adhered in place. I then decorated the box so that it has the same feel and look as the cards. However I used the Congrats sentiment since this is basically my card to her.

I then filled the decorated box with four cards. I used the same design on all of the cards except switched up the image I stamped just a bit. Two cards have the moving boxes and the other two have the cute little moving van (I just love that van!).

Here is a picture of one of the cards with the moving van.

If you are wondering - yes, I did sew the buttons in place using a bit of linen thread. I just cannot leave buttonholes naked... they look so lonely that way. I know - WEIRD! :)

Finally - here is a shot of the set all together. I just need to add four envelopes and it will be all set!

Fat Cat Blog Hop!

Woot! I am so excited! Today is the day and the Prettie Girls are sharing lots of eye candy using the all new Home Sweet Home stamp set (my first release!). Now that you have read my novel of a post I bet you would like to see what I've been making with the set! I had a really difficult time trying to decide which cards to share now or save for later... so I decided to share a couple now and I will be back tonight with a card set that I made!

The first card uses the apartment building image which I LOVE. Oh and that little round pot thing on the top balcony... that is a little grill for balcony barbecuing! How else are you going to roast marshmallows for smores? :)

It doesn't show up well in this photo but after coloring the image with Copics I applied a thin layer of Crystal Effects to all of the little windows.

Stamps: Home Sweet Home. Paper: River Rock, Always Artichoke, Creamy Caramel, PTI Select White, designer. Ink: black, Copic markers. Other: Crystal Effects, Rich Regal brads, satin ribbon (May Arts), word window bunch, scalloped edge punch, dimensionals.

The second card uses the one story house and tree image. I love this sentiment too... perfect to use on a card or gift tag when giving a gift! :) Now just to find the perfect gift to go with this card! Hmm... maybe a stamp set? LOL!
