Friday Fun!

What's green, like's purple and is a snazzy dresser? Hee... how about this cute little witch and friends from the Anna Wight Halloween Fun Cling set! :)

I just had to sneak in a bit of time with this cute stamp set! I stamped the pumpkins and frog on a rectangle of PTI Select White cardstock (leaving a bit of room for the witch) and then stamped the witch on a seperate piece. I colored all of the images adding Crystal Effects to the pumpkin eyes and mouths. I then added Crystal Effects to the hat bands and belt buckles and then sprinkled with Dazzling Diamonds glitter. Told ya she knows how to accessorize! ;) I then cut out the witch and adhered to the main panel with dimensionals.

For the bottom most layer I sprayed a piece of Autumn Traditions designer paper with Olive Vine Glimmer Mist and heat set. I added paper piercing and sponging (Close to Cocoa) to the edges and matted on Chocolate Chip cardstock. Next up I stamped the sentiment on a strip of Kraft cardstock and adhered to this layer with dimensionals. I then attached a button through all of the layers using linen thread to fasten it into place. I used the same paper treatment for the main image and fastened it to the base with dimensionals.

What do you think? Cute in a witch-y kind of way, right? :)

Recipe:
Stamps: Halloween Fun Anna Wight Cling Set (Whipper Snapper designs). Paper: Kraft, Chocolate Chip, PTI Select White, Autumn Traditions designer. Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copic markers, Close To Cocoa Classic. Other: Crystal Effects, Dazzling Diamonds glitter, linen thread, Button Latte brown button, mat pack, paper piercer, dimensionals, Olive Vine Glimmer Mist (Tattered Angels).

For my card I used a lighter green for my mystery color. AND I used the soon to be released Summer Fun stamp set. This is a sweet add on set for Make a Splash Sophia! I did a lot of coloring for this card and even broke out my compressor so I could airbrush the sky and ground. What do you think?

Pretties Wednesday: Easy Peasy Challenge Time!

Two weeks ago Jodi challenged the Prettie Girls to use their favorite embellishment on a card! Oh what an easy peasy challenge. I of course had to use ribbon. I love ribbon and all of the different colors and textures it comes in!

For my card I used a bit of May Arts two toned satin ribbon. Yum! I've also been going through my crafts supplies and purging or in the case of this card finding forgetten delicious designer paper. I purchased a whole package of the SEI line Madera Island paper and matching elements. AND I used a soon to be released Paper Pretties stamp called Everyday Picnic. It comes with several nifty sentiments but I was in the mood for BOLD so I used some Thicker Stickers to spell out "Enjoy".

So what do you think of the card? Are you lovin' that new stamp? :) Would you like to see what embellishment the Prettie Girls favor (and maybe another sneak peek or two)? If so, blurf on over to their blogs:

Double Decker Times Two!

I enjoyed making this box so much that I had to make another! This time I used some sparkly designer paper and the cute Vintage Picnic set from PTI.

Quick notes: After stamping and coloring a couple of picnic baskets I cut them out and sewed some pretty pink buttons to them.

In other news it is almost release time at Paper Pretties! On Saturday, August 1st Paper Pretties will be having their monthly Stampin In Your Jammies party! The party starts at 8pm EST and will last until 10pm. We will be having three challenges, so be sure to come and play along! Besides the challenges, chatter, and all around fun, we will also be releasing two new sets, Aloha Sophia to the public, and introducing our new Stamp Of The Month. Sneak peeks start on Wednesday July 29th!! Hope to see you there!

A Frosty Rootbeer!

A week ago I finally broke and ordered a bunch of new Whipper Snapper designs... they got me with the Cowgirl! Hee! Add to that some fun new designer paper from SU! (thanks Denise for doing the paper share) and I was all set to make a card!

I stamped the cowgirl from Cowgirl Up! on PTI Select White and colored with Copic markers. I stamped the frosty mug on a seperate piece of the white cardstock, colored and cut out. Something was missing so I added touch of glitter with a bunch of different colors of AtYou Spica glitter pens. I paper pierced around the cowgirl and added the frosty mug with a dimensional. Cute, right? :)

I kept the layout pretty simple and just added a sentiment with a button and a little hemp laced through a couple of jumbo eyelets!

Yumm... root beer!

Recipe:
Stamps: Cowgirl Up! Anna Wight cling set (Whipper Snapper Designs). Paper: River Rock, Close to Cocoa, PTI Select White, Razzleberry designer (SU!). Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copic markers, Copic AtYou Spica glitter pens. Other: mat pack, paper piercer, hemp twine, dimensionals, jumbo eyelets, button (PTI).

TLC230: Fun with Fabric

I decided to play in a Split Coast Stampers Technique Lover's challenge this week! The challenge (TLC230) was to use fabric on your card. Of fun! Luckily for me I have a bunch of quilter's squares in my closet so I grabbed one of those and some HeatnBond and I was set to go!

I used the SU! Top Note Die to cut the chipboard and the fabric (after applying the HeatnBond to the fabric with an iron). I then trimmed the fabric a bit and ironed the fabric to the chipboard. Does that make sense?! :)

The main image was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on PTI select white cardstock. I then traced the image with a couple of Copic markers to add some color! Lots of dimensionals were sacrificed in the making of this card. Hee hee!

Recipe:
Stamps: Pocket Silhouettes, Sanded Background (SU!). Paper: Kraft, Black, Bashful Blue, PTI select white. Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copic Markers, Sahara Sand Classic. Other: fabric (quilter's block), word window punch, Kraft corduroy brad, black satin ribbon (May Arts), dimensionals, mat pack, paper piercer, chipboard.

Pretties Wednesday: Feel Better!

Two weeks ago Jessie challenged the Prettie Girls to make a card using her sketch. Well, we decided to hijack her challenge and turn it into a Feel Better Blog Hop for HER! We are BAD that way! Hee hee!

Blog hop notes: the hop started at Christie's and hopefully you came here via the fabulous Frances. If not, well you know what to do! :)

Here is wishing you a speedy recovery from oral surgery Jessie! May you be able to eat solid foods again soon! Although mashed potatoes are mighty tasty they do become old after awhile! :)

Ready for the next stop on the blog hop? I thought so! Head on over to Jessica D's for a gander at a fabulous card!

Quick card notes: I did use Jessie's sketch for the layout! Sophia was stamped on PTI white cardstock, colored with Copic markers and then cut out with a die. I ran a piece of Lemon Tart through a die machine using the Bloom Dots embossing folder. It was layered on a piece of Summer Sunrise cardstock that had its bottom edge scalloped. The patterned paper is from a big slab by Karen Foster!

Recipe:
Stamps: Bunny Slippers Sophia (Paper Pretties). Paper: Pumpkin Pie (SU!), Lemon Tart, Summer Sunrise, White (PTI), designer (Karen Foster). Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copic markers. Other: Bloom Dots embossing folder (Cuttlebug), oval and scalloped oval Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Scalloped edge punch, 5/16" white brads, small oval punch, twill tape, dimensionals (SU!), yellow textured ribbon (May Arts).

Just Because

Can you believe that I used to dislike the color turquoise??? Apparently I have overcome that! LOL! This is another card I made using PTI's Vintage Picnic set. I kept the layout rather simple and only added a bit of embellishment! Well... if you don't count the sewing on the background layer! :)

In other news it was vet day for the kitties (Isa and Magoo)... oh how fun! NOT! But it had to be done especially since Magoo had another rash/sore spot. Get this... my cat has allergies! Snort! So anyways I packed them into my Jeep and hauled them the half mile to the vet's office (they serenaded me the whole way) where they received a bunch of shots. Magoo received an extra $40 poke in the butt to fix his ouchie... and no he didn't appreciate that third shot! Of course they were also weighed... yeah... and the little (okay not so little) buggers gained even more weight so onto a restricted diet they go. There is a reason this blog is called "Fat Cat" and not "Skinny Cat!" LOL! If you are wondering they weighed in at ohhhh a little over 18 and 15 pounds and no I do not think the restricted diet is going to go over well with them. I anticipate a bright future of midnight caterwauling! If I didn't think I would sleep through the alarm clock I'd buy some ear plugs! :)

Recipe:
Stamps: Background Basics: Text Style, Vintage Picnic, Vintage Picnic Sentiments (PTI). Paper: Tempting Turquoise, Cool Caribbean (SU!), white (PTI). Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copic markers, Tempting Turquoise Classic. Other: oval punch, 5/16" white brads, dimensionals (SU!), ruffled suede ribbon (May Arts), Labels One Nestabilities (Spellbinders), white thread, sewing machine.

Just a Bit of Snail Mail

Lookee... I have a new stamp set or two! LOL! In addition to buttons, paper and ribbon I actually ordered a couple of stamp sets from PTI. I really really liked the picnic basics so I splurged and bought 'em!

This is one of the cards I whipped up with the new set! I stamped and colored the image and then cut out with an oval die (a much neglected oval die). Mounted on a scalloped die and then sewed a couple of buttons with ribbon to the image. It may be very difficult to see but I also stamped the Pink Pirouette (really light pink) with an image from the Text Style Background Basics set.

Hope you like it! :)

Recipe:
Stamps: Vintage Picnic, Background Basics: Text Style (PTI). Paper: Berry Sorbet, Pure Poppy, White (PTI), Kraft, Pink Pirouette, Kraft designer (SU!). Ink: Pink Pirouette Classic, Memento Tuxedo Black, Copic markers. Other: buttons, Berry Sorbet Swiss Dot satin, thread (PTI), Scalloped oval and oval Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Scalloped scallop edger punch (EK Success), mat pack, paper piercer, dimensionals (SU!)

A while back I made this card with a kitty cat face on it. I had a few people ask if I had a template but alas at the time I didn't. However I did spend a bit of time today making one!

For download from 4Shared..com: Kitty Cat Template. This is a printable template and I sized the face to fit on a 3.5 x 2.5 card base. There are two seperate faces, one with a mouth and one without. There are also seperate pieces for the nose and ears. Enjoy! If you do use this template please leave a comment on this post with a link to your creation. I'd love to seem them!!! :)

Birthday Balloon

Just popping in with a quick card I made last week. Happily I will have some time today to spend in my crafty cave making lots and lots of cards. Well... at least if my stamping mojo cooperates! If not I'll just crochet more flowers. :)
Recipe: Stamps: Happy Birthday Dog, 29 Again Anna Wight Cling set (Whipper Snapper Designs). Paper: Fun in the Sun mat stack (DCWV), Baja Breeze, Pumpkin Pie, Pacific Point, PTI Select White. Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copic markers. Other: oval punch, slot punch, Baja Breeze striped grosgrain ribbon, Dazzling Diamonds glitter, glue pen, dimensionals.

Pretties Thursday: Buttons and Flowers Oh Yay!

I'm back! With my Anything But a Card sample for the PWC61 challenge: find the details on the challenge in this post.

Lately I've been crocheting a bunch of flowers and sending 'em to a few of my crafty peeps and thought it would be fun to create a nifty package to hold them. And since I usually send some buttons or ribbon to keep the flowers company I decided that I needed the box to have two seperate areas to hold the goodies. So here it is... a two story matchbox. LOL!

The finished box is 2 inches tall, 2 inches wide and 4 inches long. The drawers were made from Cool Caribbean cardstock and the cover was made from Green Galore cardstock. I then decorated the cover with some Tempting Turquoise and extra bright and fun Lime Rickey designer paper. Oh-la-la lovin' the bright colors! I added a bit of ribbon and decorated the top of the box using the sweet little birdie from Rainy Day Friends. I think the it turned out really cute. What do you think?

Recipe:
Stamps: Rainy Day Friends. Paper: Tempting Turquoise, Green Galore, Tangerine Tango, Cool Carribean, PTI Selet White, Lime Rickey designer (Basic Grey). Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copic markers. Other: Summer Sunrise swiss dot ribbon, jute, and buttons (PTI), scalloped scallop edger punch (EK Success), dimensionals.

Pretties Wednesday: Meshfully Fun!

Two weeks ago I challenged the Prettie Girls to use a random item in your house or yard and create a background. For example take a piece of bubble wrap, get it inky and then stamp it on a piece of cardstock, use a leaf as a mask and ink around it. Other items you could use are: saran wrap, bottle caps or tin cans (make some circles), twigs, screen mesh and so forth.
Ohhh... I wonder what fun backgrounds the Prettie Girls made! To see, check 'em out at their blog homes:
For my card I decided to use some mesh! I cut a piece of black fiberglass screen mesh so that it was a bit larger than the piece of Pixie Pink cardstock I wanted to apply the background technique too. I then used a brayer to ink the mesh with White Craft ink. Next I place the mesh inky side down on pink cardstock, covered with a scrap piece of paper and brayered over it. This transfered the ink from the mesh to my cardstock! Yay! I decided I wanted a bit more texture so while the craft ink was still wet I coated the paper with Winter White embossing powder, shook off the excess and heat set. This really made the mesh texture pop! I think I am going to have to do this more often as I really really liked the results!
Recipe:
Stamps: Book Worm Sophia (Paper Pretties). Paper: Pixie Pink (SU!), Spring Rain, Raspberry Fizz, White (PTI). Ink: black, Copic markers, Whisper White Craft. Other: crocheted flower, May Arts ribbon, designer button, dimensionals, mat pack, and 5/16" brads (SU!), scalloped scallop edger punch (EK Success), sewing machine, white thread, paper piercer, jute.

Pink Blossoms

Are you ready for some pink? Lots of pink? I did add a bit of green to tone it down a tad! :)

Quick notes on the main image: I stamped a tree image sideways on a piece of PTI Select White so that it would look like a branch. I then stamped a bunch of flowers about the branch and colored with Copic markers. For additional depth I stamped more flowers on a scrap of white cardstock, colored, cut out and adhered to the branch with dimensionals. I then stamped some bursts of green about the tree to mimic itty bitty leaves. Whew... lots of cutting but so worth the end result!

Recipe:
Stamps: Tree, flower (Stamps by Judith), Friendly Expressions Anna Wight Cling Set (Whipper Snapper Designs). Paper: Kiwi Kiss, Pink Pirouette, Pure Poppy (PTI), PTI Select White, Karen Foster designer. Ink: Chocolate Chip Classic, Kiwi Kiss Classic, Creamy Caramel Classic, Memento Tuxedo Black, Copic markers, Copic Spica pen. Other: Ma Arts ribbon, mat pack, paper piercer, 5/16" brown brads, dimensionals.

Oh Happy Friday!

I'm pretty excited about this weekend... it is the first in a while in which I haven't had any major plans. No home improvement projects that have to be done (I can procrastinate the painting) and I don't have to drive for hours and hours! Yay! I can get caught up on all of those little things I've been wanting to do (hello pedicure) AND I will even have some time to craft and maybe even take in a movie. Woot! And on that note I'll leave you with a card featuring a sweet puppy from Penny Black!

Recipe:
Stamps: A Romantic Dog (Penny Black), Blooming Expressions (Whipper Snapper Designs). Paper: Naturals Ivory, Apricot Appeal, Pretty in Pink, PTI Select White, Tea Party designer. Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copic markers. Other: flower brads, May Arts satin ribbon, mat pack, paper piercer, Sizzix embossing folder, dimensionals, scalloped edge punch.

Prettes Thursday: Going in Circles

Today is the day... for another Paper Pretties Thursday Challenge! Yay! This week it is a sketch challenge with quite a few circles! I've actually had this sketch in mind for quite a while and thought this week would be perfect for it!

How to Enter the challenge: make a project using the provided sketch and any Paper Pretties stamp set(s). Upload the card to the Paper Pretties gallery. Please include it in the Weekly Challenges category and use keyword PWC60.

Deadline: midnight on Wednesday, July 15th.

Prize*: $5.00 coupon to the Paper Pretties Boutique.

For my sample I went with a bright color combo of yellow and turquoise. Definitely not my normal color pallete but I think I kind of like it. I also used the fantastic August SOTM Story Time Sophia! If you are not a member of the Stamp of the Month Club from Paper Pretties, why not join?! You can find more details on the club HERE.

Quick notes: finished card is 5"x5". I embossed a piece of cardstock and then cut the circles out with a Nestabilitie die. If I do this again, I'll cut and then emboss... cutting after embossing just flattens the embossing back out. Pooh! But you can still see it a bit.

I didn't have room on the front of the card for a sentiment so I created a little panel and added one to the inside of the card. Quick and easy and adds a nice finishing touch to the card!

Recipe:
Stamps: Story Time Sophia (Paper Pretties). Paper: Soft Sky, Summer Sun, Tempting Turquoise, PTI Select white, Karen Foster designer. Ink: black, Copic markers. Other: mat pack, paper piercer, scalloped edge punch, circle, rectangle and scalloped rectangle Nestabilities, dimensionals, adhesive rhinestones, May Arts ribbon, 5/16" cream brads, Quickutz embossing folder.

Pretties Wednesday: Moving... In More Than One Way

Two weeks ago Jana challenged the Prettie Girls to make a "moving" card... and we could take that to mean anything we like. Hmmm... what to do? How about a card with a pocket that you could use to hold a tag that could be moved out and in? AND how about a Sophia that is all about moving? Snort... yeah I'm an overachiever this week. ;)

To see what the rest of the Prettie Girls were "moved" to make check 'em out at their blog homes:
Charmaine Ikach
Christi Thorsen
Frances Byrne
Jackie Pedro
Jackie Rakoski
Jana Weaver
Jessica Diedrich
Jodi Collins
Julie Masse
Jessica Rone

Here is a shot of the card with the tag removed. I just stamped a sentiment on the tag and then rounded the corners using an oval punch, added a library clip with ribbon and paper pierced the eges. Ehh... I think that is enough for one little tag!

Recipe:
Stamps: Ballerina Sophia (Paper Pretties). Paper: Kraft, Pink Pirouette, Chocolate Chip, PTI Select White, Karen Foster designer. Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copic markers. Other: ribbon (Offray and May Arts), Library Clip, mat pack, paper piercer, oval punch, dimensionals.

Oh! Hello Small Wonder!

I hope you all had a great Fourth of July (if you celebrate it)! I had a nice long weekend which I drove North (U.P. of Michigan) to spend with my family. While visiting I spent a bit of time in my mom's Crafty Room and made a couple of cards using her supplies... including this cutey patootie of a lion! Hmm... I think I will have to order one of him to add to my collection! :)

Stamps: Small Lion (Stamps by Judith), So Many Sayings (SU!). Paper: Kraft, Mellow Moss, PTI Select White, Making Memories designer. Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copic markers, Gold Copic spica pen. Other: May Arts ribbon, Deckled Rectangle Nestabilities, dimensionals, 5/16" brads.

Pretties Wednesday: Summery Fun

Two weeks ago Charmaine challenged the Prettie Girls to do some masking! For some reason I kept getting this challenged confused with paper piecing... so I did both on this card and threw in some sewing for the fun of it!

Quick notes: I stamped Sophia on PTI White cardstock and masked (stamped on a Post-It note and cut out). I then inked up a background stamped and stamped right on top of the masked Sophia image. Colored Sophia with Copic markers and paper pieced her dress from a piece of designer paper (stamp Sophia on the designer paper and cut out the dress). The sentiment is from a set of rubons called Chit Chat and the flower is one I crocheted myself using Pearl thread from DMC.

For more masking fun check out the rest of the masked crusaders of stamping, otherwise known as the Prettie Girls:

BUT WAIT, I'm not done! This week it is my turn to issue a challenge! Muhahaha! Do I feel the need to be evil or am I in the mood to be nice? My challenge is use a random item in your house or yard and create a background. Huh?! For example take a piece of bubble wrap, get it inky and then stamp it on a piece of cardstock... it is soooo fun! Or use a leaf as a mask and ink around it. Other items you could use are: saran wrap, bottle caps or tin cans (make some circles), twigs, screen mesh and so forth... hmm I think the Prettie Girls might just think I'm evil for this one! Tee hee. ;)

Before I forget... Happy Canada Day to my friends up North. Hope you have a fabulous day!

Recipe:
Stamps: Giving Thanks Sophia (Paper Pretties), French Script (SU!). Paper: Baja Breeze, Tangerine Tango, Certainly Celery, PTI Select White, Karen Foster designer. Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Marigold Morning Classic, Copic markers. Other: Crocheted Flower, Baja Breeze Corduroy Button, Certainly Celery Polytwill ribbon, Scalloped Scallop edger punch (EK Success), sewing machine, white thread, sponge, dimensionals, Chit Chat rubons.
