Thanks a Bunches Bunny

Just wanted to *hop* in with a quick card! LOL! I actually made this card a week or two ago and loved the layout so much that I had to use it for last weeks PWC challenge at Paper Pretties.

The bunny is from Stamps by Judith and was stamped twice. The second bunny was cut out and overlayed over the first after coloring. The sentiment is from an Anna Wight Cling set and for the top background I used a leaf image from Impression Obsession. Yeah, I went a little crazy using different many products from many different companies on this card. I don't usually do that but these were just perfect together! :)

Recipe:
Stamps: Cover a Card Leaves (Impression Obsession), H-191-HK Bunny (Stamps By Judith), Love at Home Anna Wight Cling Set (Whipper Snapper Designs). Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black Sahara Sand Classic, Copic markers. Paper: Pretty in Pink, Basic Grey, Pink Pirouette, PTI Select White, Pink Stripe designer (Susan Branch). Other: Ribbon (May Arts), mat pack, paper piercer, Dazzling Diamonds, glitter, silver brads.

My card uses the new Game On stamp set. Guess what? I illustrated the game console and the controller! Now if only I were a gamer... although I have been tempted to buy a Wii but then that would mean less time for stamping. Nevah!! :)

Quick notes: I wanted to create a cord from the controller to the console (they do need cords still, right?) so I cut a length of wire, wrapped it around the handle of a paintbrush to create the curled effect and then attached it to the backs of both images. Easy peasy! I kept the rest of the card relatively simple. What do you think? Also, check back tomorrow for another sneak peek!

Recipe:
Stamps: Game On (Paper Pretties). Paper: Real Red, Tangerine Tango, PTI Select White, the Boyfriend designer (Cosmo Cricket). Ink: black, Copic markers. Other: black eyeletes, wire, dimensionals.

PWC67: Sketchin' on a Thursday

It's Thursday which means it is time for another Paper Pretties challenge! This week it is a sketch!

Here are the challenge details:

How to Enter: make your card using the provided sketch and any Paper Pretties stamp set(s). Upload the card to the Paper Pretties gallery. Please include it in the Weekly Challenges category and use keyword PWC67.

Deadline: midnight on Wednesday, September 2nd.

*Prize: $5.00 coupon to the Paper Pretties Boutique.

Hope you can play along! Have a great day... I'll be back in a few with a card made with this sketch, but I have to wait a bit since I used one of the new Paper Prettie stamp sets that will be released on the 1st of September! :)

Simple Thanks

Popping in with a simple thank you card I made over the weekend. I used a sweet and cool color combo of Avocado, Moss and Light Blue. After stamping and coloring the flowers with Copic markers (just a touch of blue for the petals) I added Dazzling Diamond glitter to the flowers. I kept the layers to a minimum for me and added just a few accents. Sweet and easy!

Recipe:
Stamps: Friendly Expressions Anna Wight Cling set (Whipper Snapper Designs). Paper: Ripe Avocado, White (PTI), Bashful Blue (SU!), 2008 Bitty Dot Basics Designer (PTI). Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copic markers. Other: Dazzling Diamonds glitter, Bashful Blue Taffeta ribbon, 5/15" white brads, mat pack, paper piercer, dimensionals (SU!), Labels 1 Nestabilities (Spellbinders).

Here is a closeup of the flower in all of its glittery niceness!

Pretties Wednesday: Raiding the Scrap Pile

Two weeks ago Frances challenged the Prettie Girls to make a scrapling. You can find some deets on scraplings HERE. Although Frances was kind enough to say that we could make them a bit wider but no more than 2 1/2" wide. And you can bet I took that real estate offer! LOL!

For my scrapling I used the drink glass from the recently released Summer Fun stamp set and colored it with Copic markers, added glitter to the lime wedge and the umbrella and applied Crystal Effects to the glass for a shiny finish. Easy peasy mini card! Now my only questions is... what do you do with a scrapling? :)

Question: What's black, white and red?

Answer: A Twilight inspired birthday hop for Jackie P.! The Prettie girls are hopping again and this time it is in celebration of our girl Jackie P. turning a year older. HAPPY BIRTHDAY JACKIE!

The hop started with the fabulous Frances and hopefully you are coming here from Jackie R.'s blog. If not you might be missing out on some fabulous bday creations... Twilight style! I have to admit that I am not quite as addicted to the series as some un-named members of the Paper Pretties team (you know who you are!) but I have read the first two books and have the third ready and waiting for a free afternoon. Of course that means an afternoon of not stamping - yikes the horrors! LOL! :)

For my Twilight inspired card I used the showy Wade E. Bug (the "E" has to be short for Edward - hee hee) and a cute little sentiment from an Anna Wight cling set (it was just tooooo perfect). I colored the *Edward* Bug in various shades of gray and red and added a bit of glitter (okay, more than a bit) to the hat, bowtie and cane. I then paired it with some red designer paper from the Holiday Lounge set from SU! (who says you have to use it on a Holiday card?) and the new wide red polka dot ribbon (I think I'm in LUV). What do you think?

Now that you have seen my card blurf your way over to Jana's blog (the next stop on the hop). Don't forget to leave a little birthday love for Jackie when you finally reach her blog. Big Birthday Wishes to you Officer! May your day be fabulous! :)

Recipe:
Stamps: Wade E. Bug (Paper Pretties), 29 Again Anna Wight Cling Set (Whipper Snapper Designs) - sentiment. Paper: PTI Select White, Basic Black, Riding Hood Red, Holiday Lounge Designer. Ink: Memento Tuxedo black, Copic markers. Other: Scalloped scallop border punch (EK Success), Small oval punch, Real Red dotted grosgrain ribbon, Button Latte button, Dazzling Diamonds Glitter, mat pack, paper piercer, dimensionals, Label 3 Nestabilities (Spellbinders).

Got a cold? Phooey!

Would this cute pink and green card cheer you up if you were sick? Maybe bring a smile to your face? I have to admit that the bug image just cracks me up... so much so that I had to color 'em in hot pink and add a bit of glitteh! LOL!

Quick notes: I stamped the bug image three times, coloring with various shades of pink and green Copic markers. I added a bit of glitter to their antennas, their many feet and the spots on their backs. The sentiment is from a SU! set called Curvy Verses and says "If wishes could make you well... you'd be better already!". I added a bit of machine stitching, some pretty designer paper and finished with some silver brads and gingham ribbon.

For the inside I added a piece of white cardstock matted on Pink Pirouette with a strip of the same designer paper I used on the front of the card. I stitched the layers together and then adhered to the inside of the card. I don't do this very often bought thought the bright pink card base needed to be toned down a couple of degrees! Wouldn't want to blind the recipient! :)

Recipe:
Stamps: B-72 Phooey Bug (Stamps by Judith), Curvy Verses (Stampin' Up!). Paper: Pixie Pink, Pink Pirouette, PTI Select White, Carolyn Gavin Greenhouse mat pad (K & Company). Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copic markers. Other: sewing machine, white thread, Light Pink Gingham ribbon, 5/16" silver brads, dimensionals, 1 1/4" and 1 3/8" circle punches, Dazzling Diamonds Glitter (Stampin' Up!), Icicle Border punch (EK Success).

Frightful and Delightful

I managed to scrap up a bit of crafting mojo and made this card using some fun pumpkins and gourds from the Stampin' Up! Autumn Harvest stamp set. Not the newest set of stamps on the pile but still quite delightful! :)

I stamped the images in Memento Tuxedo Black and then watercolored with an AquaPainter and Watercolor Wonder Crayons. After die cutting the main image I layered a couple of colored pieces on top with dimensionals. I finished the main image by spritzing it with a bit of Coffee Shop Glimmer Mist. Added a bit of paper piercing and layered upon a scalloped circle.

For more texture on the card I added some very rough paper pleating using a strip of designer paper. I used a strip of adhesive to tack it into place at first and then sewed along the top edge with my sewing machine. The sewing is covered by the green satin ribbon. To finish I added a crocheted flower (click HERE for my crocheted flower FAQ) and a sentiment that was stamped on Kraft and then punched out with an oval punch.

So what do you think? Is it frightful or delightful? :)

Recipe:
Stamps: Autumn Harvest (Stampin' Up!), Spooky Expressions Anna Wight Cling set (Whipper Snapper). Paper: Kraft, Chocolate Chip, Tangerine Tango, PTI Select White, Tim Coffey Fall mat pad (K & Company). Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black. Other: button, jute (PTI), Coffee Shop Glimmer Mist (Tattered Angels), Watercolor Wonder Crayons, oval punch, mat pack, paper piercer, dimensionals, Aqua Painter (Stampin' Up!), Petite Scalloped Circle and Circle Nestabilities (Spellbinders), green satin ribbon (May Arts), Pearl crochet thread (DMC).

Pretties Wednesday: A Bit Foggy

Two weeks ago Christi challenged the Prettie Girls to use vellum. Ohhhh... I haven't used vellum in a long time! For my card I used the Top Note die from SU! to cut out a shape from vellum and used it as a layer behind the main image. Loving the texture this added to my card! :)

Pink Elephants Marching Down the Road

Every have one of those weeks when your crafting mojo has decided to take a vacation? Mine did! But luckily I have a couple of cute although quite pink projects that I made a while ago and since the recipient has received them I can share! :)

The first is a cute pink polka dot notebook from Michael's that I decorated. The designer paper is really decadent with a lot of texture and a bit of glimmer. Sadly I don't know the manufacturer since it doesn't have a label. :( The cute little elephant is from the Just Celebrate stamp set from Stampin' Up! I stamped and colored the elephant twice, cut out the second one and adhered it over the first with some dimensionals. I used buttons, some jute and pretty PTI ribbon to accent the cover.

After decorating the notebook I decided that I needed a matching card. I used the same supplies and kept the layout similar to the notebook.

Now that I've shown you a cute pink project... I need to run and find my stamping mojo 'cause it has some work to do! But I'll have to be quiet and use the sneak approach to catch it... rascally rabbit that it is! LOL! :)

Recipe:
Stamps: Just Celebrate (SU!). Paper: Sweet Blush, Select White (PTI), Pixie Pink, Textured pink paper (Manufacturer unknown). Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copic markers. Other: sewing machine, white thread, mat pack, paper piercer, dimensionals, Raspberry Fizz Swiss Dots satin ribbon (PTI), buttons (PTI), distressing tool, small notebook, Subway white foam Thickers (American Crafts), Word Window punch.

Happy Birthday Jackie!!!

Today is a fabulous day! Why, you ask? One, because it is Saturday - no work for me today. Two, I have an hair appointment - two weeks overdue so it is really needed. Three, and most importantly, it is Jackie's birthday today! I think by now everyone knows how much the Prettie Girls enjoy celebrating birthdays (they had a FABULOUS hop for me earlier this week - thanks girlies!) so we just had to have another one for the fantastically talented Jackie!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JACKIE!

The hop started at Jackie P's blog The Scalloped Edge and hopefully you are coming to my blog from Christi's. If not finish reading my post and then head to the beginning so you can see all of the fabulous Prettie cards. :)

For my card I used the dancing diva Aloha Sophia (she just screams fun). I also used Thursday's Paper Pretties sketch challenge and had a bit of fun adding some paper ruffles to the card. I've seen this technique everywhere and finally had a chance to try it myself! You'll be seeing this from me again! Although I do need to work on sewing around rounded corners... but we'll just ignore that for now and love the ruffles. :)

Ready for the next stop on the hop? It is none other than the birthday girl herself: Jackie R! Please head over to her blog and leave her a bit of birthday love. :)

Recipe:
Stamps: Aloha Sophia. Paper: Kraft (SU!), Sweet Blush, Scarlet Jewel, White (PTI), 2008 Bitty Dot Basic designer (PTI), pink stripe designer (Karen Foster). Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copic markers. Other: Scarlet Jewel Saddle Stitch Ribbon, Scarlet Jewel Buttons (PTI), linen thread, Dazzling Diamonds glitter, Crystal Effects, dimensionals (SU!), Dottie Texturz plate (Sizzix), white thread, sewing machine.

Pretties Wednesday: A Little Off

Two weeks ago Jackie P. challenged the Prettie Girls to make a card using two of the new Stampin' Up! In Colors: Bermuda Bay and Soft Suede. Well I haven't placed a new catty order yet so I don't have those colors. Instead I used a similar color combo of Taken with Teal and Chocolate Chip... just a bit off but close enough, right? :)

For my sample card I used last week's PWC64 sketch challenge and an oldie but goodie stamp set called Snowflake Kisses. Something about the combo just screamed winter to me... or maybe it is the incredibly hot weather outside (yick!).

Ready to see more sweet samples using Jackie's combo? Well, check 'em out here:

Under the Sea...

There lives a wee little fish! A happy little fish swimming here and there! Hee... I picked up this cutie at the Rubber Stamp Show in Novi, MI a couple of weekends ago and had a chance to play with him this last weekend while hanging with a couple of friends. Oh... and see all of that sparkle? I actually practiced patience and waited for Stickles to dry! So slow........ and checking every five minutes doesn't speed up the process at all! LOL!

Quick notes: I stamped an Ocean Fish image from Impression Obsession three times and colored portions of each one, cut out (bottom layer with a circle Nestie), applied Stickles (let dry) and then adhered together with dimensionals. The topmost layer is just the fish, the second layer is the fish and a couple of the water fronds and the bottommost layer includes the whole image. I'm loving how this turned out! So bright and sparkly!

After the main image was completed it was just a mater of picking the perfect sentiment and some pretty paper to complete the card! The finished card is 5" x 5".

Recipe:
Stamps: Ocean Fish (Impression Obsession), Love at Home Anna Wight Cling set (Whipper Snapper). Paper: Spring Rain, Ocean Tides, Berry Sorbet, White (PTI), Marli designer (Fancy Pants). Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copic markers. Other: mat pack, paper piercer, Petite Scalloped Circle and Circle Nestabilities (Spellbinders), dimensionals, May Arts ribbon, Diamond Stickles (Ranger).

Cookin' up a bit of Spooky Goodness

I should be baking cookies today but it is just too hot so instead I made this Halloween card using the Halloween Grocery List stamp from Whipper Snapper. Nothing like a bit of cobweb and spider leg to add a tasty flavor. Hee hee... :)
Recipe: Stamps: Halloween Grocery List, Spooky Expressions Anna Wight Cling Set. Paper; River Rock, Basic Black, PTI Select White, Night Light Dotted Corn and Spooked Stripes designer (My Mind's Eye), Platinum Stickles (Ranger), Wide oval punch, 5/16" silver brad, dimensionals Tangerine Tango striped ribbon.

Pretties Wednesday: Shine and Sparkle!

Two weeks ago Jackie challenged the Prettie Girls to make it shine and sparkle. Oh... how fun! I used not one but three different shimmery products on my card! Dazzling Diamonds glitter for the flowers, Angel Wings Shimmerz applied to the skirt and I also sprayed the designer paper with Sunflower Glimmer Mist! Oh la la... the sparkle is alive and well on this card! :)

Oh, and I'm not sure I'm loving this color combo... although it is slowly growing on me. What do you think?

Mod-fully Fun Flowers!

Are you ready for a bright and cheery card?! I thought so! I just love this flower stamp from Whipper Snapper Designs. It is a delight to color... especially when I'm in the mood for blindingly bright! LOL!

The details: stamped the flower image twice on PTI Select White cardstock. Colored the flowers of the first image and cut out and then colored the second flower. I then added a bit of glitter to the cut out flowers and then adhered them over the second image with dimensionals. Oh the dimension! Oh the sparkle! I kept the layout simple, using a few rhinestones, ribbon and Basic Grey designer paper to accentuate the main image! Easy Peasy but with a whole lotta bang... dontcha' agree? :)

Recipe:
Stamps: Mod Flowers (Whipper Snapper Designs). Paper: Pixie Pink, Tempting Turquoise, PTI Select White, Urban Prairie designer (Basic Grey). Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copic markers. Other: May Arts ribbon, Sakura Quickie glue pen, Dazzling Diamonds glitter, Rhinestone Singles multi (Me & My Big Ideas), mat pack, paper piercer, dimensionals.

It's Time for a Party!

Today is the day! Paper Pretties will be releasing several new stamp sets tonight and debuting the next SOTMC image - Make a Wish Sophia!

The party details: tonight Paper Pretties will be having their monthly Stampin In Your Jammies party! The party starts at 8pm EST and will last until 10pm. We will be having three challenges, so be sure to come and play along! Besides the challenges, chatter, and all around fun, we will also be releasing two new sets, Aloha Sophia to the public, and introducing our new Stamp Of The Month.

I'm hoping to make it to the party tonight but may be delayed. I'm attending the big rubber stamp expo in Novi today. Oh yeah... I'll be doing some shopping! Just a wee bit!

However, whether I make it to the party or not I can share a card I have made with the newest SOTMC Make a Wish Sophia. She is the CUTEST!

Recipe:
Stamps: Make a Wish Sophia (September SOTMC). Paper: Regal Rose, Pretty in Pink, Bashful Blue, PTI Select White, Fun in the Sun mat stack (DCWV). Ink: Black, Copic markers. Other: Crocheted flower (see this post for links to patterns), May Arts ribbon, vintage brads, sewing machine, white thread, dimensionals, button (PTI), linen thread, Scalloped scallop edger punch (EK Success).
Other business - Q&A Time... sort of!
I've had a few more emails about the crocheted flowers I use on my cards. You can find details on which patterns I use HERE.
Second, I've had a couple people ask about a pattern for the Double Decker Box (you can see it HERE and HERE). I don't currently have a template or the directions written up. If you are interested in a tutorial (or at the very list some rough sketches) please let me know by leaving a comment on this post or sending me an email! If there is enough interest I'll work on a post with the details on making the box! :)
