Pretties Peek: Ring, ring, ring... Anyone Home?

Hi Peeps, I'm back today with another Prettie Peek at a new set being released on November 1st and another of 'my favorite things!'

"Cream colored ponies and crisp apple streudels
Doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles
Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings
These are a few of my favorite things"

For this peek my lyric is: "doorbells". Oh boy, talk about a case of stamper's block with this one! Hee... but after a bit of thought I came up with the bright idea that doorbells are made of metal! AND I have some fun sheets of thin cuttable/embossable self-adhesive metal by Quickutz. PERFECT!

Hmmm... I do believe that Christie and Charmaine may have a few peeks for you today too...

Don't forget - if you would like to be entered to win the set (Crafty Emergency) I used on this card you need to leave a comment on it in the Paper Pretties Gallery. You can find it HERE.

Recipe:
Stamps: Crafty Emergency (Paper Pretties). Paper: Aqua Mist, Scarlet Jewel, White (PTI), Farm Fresh designer (October Afternoon). Ink: black, Copic markers. Other: Scarlet Jewel saddle stitched ribbon, metal sheet and Flowers embossing folder (Quickutz), Scalloped scallop edger punch (EK Success), dimensionals, mat pack, paper piercer, heart punch.

Pretties Wednesday: Keeping it Simple

Today's Pretties challenge was issued to us by Julie! Julie's challenge was to create a card using a clean and simple layout. Oh boy... clean and simple is always so difficult for me but I think I managed it and I only had to rip the card apart one time!

Sadly this is my last PWC challenge post as a Prettie Girl. I had to make the difficult decision to step down from the team at the end of this month. I love the Prettie stamps and have enjoyed working with Christie and all of the Prettie Girls but I've been a little short on crafting time lately (lots of work to do at the Job) and thought it best to cut down on my crafty commitments. This doesn't mean I won't be crafting it just means that there may (most likely will) be times when I need to take a break for a couple of weeks and concentrate on the Job. But never fear... I will be around! :) Oh and for all of you Prettie fans I've heard a rumor that there will be some new talent joining the rest of the amazing ladies on the Paper Pretties design team. :D

On that note, for more fun samples hop along on a blog hop with the Prettie Girls. The hop started at Christie's so if you missed a couple of stops before visiting my blog you will want to start there first! The next stop is the fabulous Charmaine!

PWC75 Challenge Details: chose any one of the layouts the Prettie Girls are showing off and make a card with it!

How to Enter: create a card using a clean and simple layout and any Paper Pretties stamp set(s) you have. Upload a picture of your card to the Paper Pretties gallery. Please include it in the Weekly Challenges category and use keyword PWC75.

It's a Prettie Peek!

Welcome to our Prettie Peeks for Paper Pretties November Release! This month we thought we'd have some fun and give you a chance to win the new releases. Since our Pretties are some our favorite things, our peeks will be based on the lyrics to A Few Of My Favorite Things. Each day several of the Prettie Girls will upload their challenge cards based on a new lyric. If you stop by the Pretties Gallery and leave that Prettie Girl a comment on what your 'FAVORITE THING' about her card is, you'll have a chance to win the new set that has been used in that challenge? The contest will end November 2nd and the winners will be posted on the Paper Clip. You can find the link to the specific cards in the Paper Pretties gallery on each blog post.
Today, the following Pretties are sharing some of their favorite things!
Danielle --> that's me!
My favorite thing is: "... whiskers on kittens." You can see my card in the Prettie Girl Gallery HERE (need to leave a comment there to be entered into the contest).
If you are wondering my train of thought on this card went 1.) whiskers on kittens, 2.) I have a cat with whiskers, 3.) she's gray and white with a touch of cream and 4.) a bit of blue too since she was a very naughty kitty while I was doing some painting! LOL! I know it is a bit of a stretch but it was the best I had. ;)
P.S Don't forget to stop on by the party in the Paper Pretties forum on November 1st at 8pm EST when all the stamps will be released for sale.
P.P.S. Also, Paper Pretties is currently having a Design Team call... ohh... would you like to be a Prettie Girl? You can find all the details HERE.

Just a Little Kite

Whew, this has been quite a weekend! I decided to finally tackle a project that I've had on my list for quite some time - redoing my craft area (am I crazy or what?!). My fingers are still feeling a bit abused from putting together a few new pieces of furniture and my one cat has a nice little spot of blue paint on her head (somebody snuck in while I was painting)! Still a lot of work to do since I'm painting one section at a time but it will be all worth it in the end. Well... at least it will be pretty! LOL!

While the paint is drying here is a card I made a few days ago. I never did have much luck flying kites when I was a kid but this is what I imagined it would look like on the perfect kite flying day! :)

Notes on the main image: I stamped the Kite and a bunch of the bows on the Spring Rain cardstock. I then drew a line connecting the pieces (although you can't see it after the rest of my changes). I then cut a cloud shape from a piece of paper and used that (the paper not the cut out piece) as a stencit to create a bunch of clouds on the blue cardstock with Whipser White Craft ink. Next I stamped the kite and bows on scraps of designer paper and cut out. This second kite was adhered over the first with a dimensional. I then applied a thin line of Crystal Effects over the kite string I drew and layered a piece of linen thread over it. The CE was perfect to adhere it. Next I adhered the bows over the kite string using more CE (just a bit though!). And there you have it... a cute little kite fluttering over a blue sky! :) I'm really liking how this turned out!

Pretties Wednesday: What screams Halloween?

Bat shaped Pez Dispensers! LOL! Frances has issued a Paper Pretties challenge today to create something for a Halloween treat. I chose to make a fun cover for a packaged Pez Dispenser. The one I decorated is actually a witch but I included the bat one in the picture so you could actually see what I started with. :)

Quick notes: The tag cover is approximately 3 1/4" wide by 6 1/2" tall. There is a 2" foldover at the top. After decorating the front I looped ribbon through two holes in the back, then through the Pez dispenser package topper and finally through two holes punched in the front (set with eyelets). I then tied the ribbon into a pretty knot. I did use more of the fun black pom pom trim - I LOVE this stuff! :)

For more fun Halloween samples hop along on a blog hop with the Prettie Girls. The hop started at Christie's so if you missed a couple of stops before visiting my blog you will want to start there first! The next stop is the fabulous Charmaine!

Soap... I don't know what that is!

Yikes... where have I been this last week?! The answer: at work... working. ;) It seems like forever since I have had a chance to post to my blog (much less make a card) but I'm back and I have a cute card (hopefully you agree) to share using another new Anna Wight set called His Favorite Things. I thought it would be neat if the little plane in the set was pulling a banner letting the world know this little boys thoughts on the "soap" issue. :)

When coloring the little boy I added some little dirt stains to his clothes in keeping with the theme of the card. I also sponged all of the cardstock layers inluding him and his little blue plane. Final result... dirty but cute!

Well, I'm off... lots to do and only so many hours in a day. :)

My Favorite Dolly!

Anna has done it again and created a couple more super sweet and amazing stamp sets! This month she is releasing through Whipper Snapper Designs two new sets: Her Favorite Things and His Favorite Things. Too sweet! :)

For my card I used the cut little girl from the Her Favorite Things set and the fun Raggedy Ann Dolly... I had one of these when I was a little girl. Did you?

I stamped and colored the images with Copic markers (the dolly was cut out and popped up a bit with a dimensionals glue dot). After I finished assembling the card I sprayed the whole card fron with Pearl Glimmer Mist... just needed a bit of glitteh! LOL!

Mmmm... Chocolate!

I'm popping in tonight with another project I made with the fun Anna Wight quilting sets. This one is very dear to my heart... because it is filled with chocolate! (And well, my heart is relatively close to my stomach which is VERY appreciative of a good chocolate!)

For this project I decorated a plain mason jar (I picked this one up at Michael's a while back). I kept the look very simple and even made a matching card to go with it. Note how much chocolate is in the jar... there were a few pieces more than that before I started decorating the jar. Heh heh heh. ;)

For the jar I stamped strips (took two to completely wrap the jar) of craft paper with various blocks from the Homespun Quilt set in Chocolate Chip Classic ink. I then used a border punch on Chocolate Chip cardstock to create a nice lacey border to attach to the Kraft. I attached all of the strips and border together with some extra sticky glue and then zig zag stitched with my sewing machine. This was then attached to the jar with some Sticky Strip adhesive.

To finish the jar I die cut a tag and decorated it. Adding yet another quilt block and accenting with a button, some ribbon and just a bit of designer paper.

I kept the matching card very simple and just accented it with a few brads and a cute little safety pin. I stamped the sentiment on a scrap of designer paper and atached it to the satin ribbon with the safety pin. I did add an adhesive dimensional afterwards so that it would stay exactly where I wanted it.

Hmmm... I think I need to sample another one of those chocolates. Make sure they are still *good*. ;)

Santa Santa

Guess what? I actually made a Christmas card using the traditional Christmas colors of green and red! LOL! Lately I have been drawn to very bright and cheery colors - must be all the cold weather lately. However I manged to break that habit with this card... no guarantees on future ones though! :)

Quick notes: as usual I stamped the image in black and then colored with Copic markers. I did add a bit of bling with a gold paint pen. Just a little though! I added a strategic piece of ribbon and a button (to hide an oopsie) to accent the main image and kept the rest of the layout simple. Of course I couldn't resist a bit of stitching. :)

Recipe:
Stamps: Spirit of Christmas Anna Wight cling set (Whipper Snapper Designs). Paper: Kraft, Chocolate Chip (SU!), White, Pure Poppy (PTI), embossed green (unknown). Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copic markers, Close to Cocoa Classic. World Card Making Day: Corrugated Cardboard Challenge

Hello my crafty friends!

It is time for the third and final Paper Pretties WCMD challenge! This is my challenge to make a card using corrugated cardboard with the top layer peeled back! Woot! You can find all the details on entering the challenge over at the Paper Clip! For more inspiration for this challenge check out Christie's blog!

For my card I cut a piece of cardboard from the top lid of a box (after I removed the fun stamping goodies that were shipped in it!). I then peeled back the top layer of paper revealing the rippled layer. I then ran it through my Big Shot using a Top Note die to cut it into a fun shape perfect for a background layer. I sponged the edges with Whisper White Craft ink and heat set. I then decorated the piece with a length of grosgrain and a couple of Jumbo Eyelets.

Next I die cut this sweet lamb image using a circle die and then colored with Copic markers. I used Copic glitter pens to add touches of shine to different areas of the image. To finish I added paper piercing to the edges and applied a coating of Crystal Effects to the balloons.

For the card base I layered a piece of polka dot designer paper to a piece of Certainly Celery and added stitching with a sewing machine. I then assembled the various layers attaching them to a Kraft card base.

So what do you think? Is the corrugated cardboard fun or what?! I'm hoping you like it and join in the challenge. :)

Recipe:
Stamps: Happy Birth Day Lamb (Paper Pretties). Paper: Kraft, Certainly Celery, PTI Select White, Black & White Basics designer (PTI). Ink: black, Copic markers, Copic Spica AtYou glitter pens, Whisper White Craft ink. Other: Top Note BigZ die, Circle Nestabilities (SpellBinders), sewing machine, white thread, Certainly Celery wide grosgrain ribbon, mat pack, paper piercer, sponge, large Zots, Crystal Effects, Antique Brass jumbo eyelets.

Pink Stocking

Hello!

So with the change of weather I'm all about big cozy warm socks like this cute one from the Winter Quilt Anna Wight cling set! Perfect to keep the toes warm and stylish! :)

Quick notes: I stamped the stocking quilt block on PTI Select White cardstock, colored with Copic markers and cut out. I added a touch of silver to the dots with a DecoColor paint pen. To finish it was mounted on a scalloped square of Scarlet Jewel cardstock with foam adhesive dimensionals. For the sentiment I cut a strip of Kraft cardstock and notched the one side to create a flag. I then stamped the sentiment and adding some paper piercing along the edges. Easy peasy and adds a fun different look to the card!

Recipe:
Stamps: Winter Quilt Anna Wight cling set (Whipper Snapper). Paper: Berry Sorbet, Scarlet Jewel and Select White (PTI), Kraft (SU!), Jolly by Golly designer (Cosmo Cricket). Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copic markers, silver DecoColor paint pen. Other: Scalloped square punch, Real Red wide grosgrain ribbon, mat pack, paper piercer, dimensionals, buttons (PTI).

Hello Pumpkin!

Hey crafty peeps,

I'm popping in with a quick card I made the other night. I thought about crafting tonight but then realized my hands and feet were way too cold. Yikes - my house is quite chilly (since I refuse to turn the furnace on yet) and I didn't think the shivers (my body's attempt to stay warm) would aid in my stamping. Instead I thought it would be more fun to bake cookies (the heat from the oven would help warm the house and well fresh baked cookies are just plain good) and surf the net on my laptop (my nice warmth producing laptop). LOL! Hmmm... I think a cookie is calling my name...

Quick Notes: I stamped the cute pumpkin in Memento Tuxedo black on PTI Select white and colored with Copic markers. The pumpkin was then cut out and the edges were sponged with Close to Cocoa (as were all of the other layers on the card). I then stamped a piece of Ocean Tides cardstock with one of the backgrounds from Bitty Backgrounds many times in VersaMark ink before stamping a sentiment. To finish the card I picked out a piece of designer paper, a few brads, a piece of ribbon and assembled, adding a bit of paper piercing as I went. Sweet and simple... well, at least as simple as I get! :)

Recipe:
Stamps: Sept 09 Kit of the Month, Bitty Backgrounds (Unity). Paper: Sahara Sand and Chocolate Chip (SU!), Ocean Tides and White (PTI), Sidney designer (Melissa Frances). Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, VersaMark, Close to Cocoa Classic, Copic markers. Other: mat pack, paper piercer, Soft Suede Polka dot grosgrain, Vanilla Brads (American Crafts).
