TE Sneak Peeks: Make a Wish

Hi Peeps! I've been sitting on some exciting news for the last couple of weeks. Can you guess? LOL! Taylor from TayloredExpressions asked me to join her design team. Woo hoo! Umm, I said yes. ;) And what better way to celebrate joining a new design team then showing sneak peeks of soon-to-be-released stamp sets and accessories? Hee hee.

Speaking of new stuff, the design team has a lot to share today. There are three fab stamp sets designed by Nancy McKinney: Make A Wish, Borderlicious and Bubbles Big Background. There is also a fabulous Make a Wish Pantry Kit and two new dies: Scalloped Lace Eyelet border die and a set of balloon dies that coordinate with the Make a Wish stamp set. All of these fabulous new goodies will be available for purchase Friday, September 3rd at 8:00 am PST at TayloredExpressions.

Today I am sharing a couple of cards made with the fabulous Make a Wish set. This set is the latest addition to the TE Giving Tree series. For the months of September, October and November when you purchase this Taylored Expressions will donate $7.00 to a national children's charity that grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions!

My first card focuses on one of the great sentiments included in the set and the tasty cake image (nom nom nom). I stamped the cake stand and the cake on Choice White cardstock and colored with Copic markers. I cut the images out and applied some Crystal Effects and a dusting of glitter to portions of the image. I stamped the sentiment on another piece of Choice White cardstock and used a square punch to notch the ends (big notches). I sponged the edges with Antique Linen Distress Ink and added a little piece of cardstock die cut with the Scalloped Lace Eyelet Border Die. The designer paper, cardstock and ribbon are all from the Make A Wish Project Pantry Kit.

My second card uses a couple of the fun balloon images and the banner image. I die cut the ballons using the matching Balloon Dies and colored them with Copic markers. You can do a lot with these balloons - use your markers to create your own pattern or stamp the balloons on designer paper and paper piece. I stamped the banner image with a dark teal on the textured side of a piece of the cardstock included in the pantry kit. I cut the image out, coated with VersaMark and heat embossed with an iridescent ice embossing powder. I finished the banner with dots of Liquid Silver Liquid Pearls. I attached the banner to the cardbase with dimensionals but thought some of the baker's twine included in the kit was also needed! :)

Grandma's Kitchen

This card reminds me of a kitchen you would find in your grandma's house. Well, maybe not the whole kitchen... just the wallpaper. ;) The card also uses the Butterfly Kisses stamp set from Whipper Snapper (same set I used on yesterday's card) and some delightful October Afternoon designer paper.

The main flower image was colored with Copics and a bit of shimmer was added to the flowers and vase with Shimmerz Paints.

I used a Nestabilities die to cut the main image and the Cherry Cobbler mat beneath it. I sponged the main image with Antique Linen Distress Inks and added gold dots to the Cherry Cobbler mat using Liquid Pearls (my latest addiction).

Some scraps of ribbon, twine and a button finished the card.

Sweet Butter-Orange-Files

Hi all! I have another Whipper Snapper card to share with you tonight. This one uses a sweet butterly image from the Butterfly Kisses Anna Wight cling set. I tried my hand at creating an elegant look. Hmmm... I think the designer paper did all of the hard work for me. ;)



Notes: The butterflies were colored with Copic markers and Crystal Effects was added to the blue swirls and butterfly bodies. I used a Bow-Easy to tie the bow (no way could I have done that on my own!). The finished card is 6" wide by 3.5" tall.

Gnome I'm Glad For Treats!

Hello!

It is late at night but that doesn't stop me. Because I have chocolate and a sweet gift bag that needs filling. So one chocolate for the gift bag and two for me! ;)

To decorate the gift bag I used the Garden Gnome Anna Wight stamp set from Whipper Snapper and a few scraps of delightful October Afternoon designer paper.

After stamping the gnome from the set in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink on white cardstock I colored with Copic markers and cut out. I wanted the gnome to be a bit more sturdy so I inked him with a VersaMark ink set added Ultra Thick Embossing Powder and heat set (repeat this a second time for an extra thick coating).

I used my scissors to cut a wavy pattern on a few pieces of blue patterned paper and inked the edges with Antique Linen Distress Ink. I pieced these on another piece of black polka dot paper, layered on black cardstock and stitched the edges.

For the top of the bag I punched two holes and weaved the ribbon through the holes. From the front insert ribbon through the left hole, then bring back to the front through the right hole. Then insert ribbon through the left hole again and bring it back to the front through the right. Hope that makes sense! It's an easy way to hold the bag shut and even easier way to remove the ribbon to get to the yummy chocolate inside. :)

I have not one but two samples to share with you today! Oh yay! The first uses a couple sweet images of a boy and girl with a couple of fun books to read. Love the sentiment - "A book is a gift you can open again and again and again."

The second image uses the school bus image. This is my super duper easy card for the release. I did apply a bit of Crystal Effects to the bus windows (doesn't show up to well in this picture).

*Here's my sample - just a little late! And yes the Crystal Effects on the flowers is not quite dry but dry enough to photograph! :)

Notes: I colored the image with Copic markers and die cut using a Labels Nestabilities. Since I wanted to mat my main image on a piece of die cut Peach Parfait cardstock I had to trim the edges of my main image a touch (I used the largest die in the set). I roughed up the edges using a distressing tool (my trimming was a tad rough!). I added dots of Pearl White Liquid Pearls to the edges.

I added a couple of jumbo eyelets and ran a bit of twine through them. I used dimensionals to adhere the main panel in place so the twine is decorative... not functional. But we like it that way, right? :)

Now that I have shared all the details on the sets how about a little eye candy?! For my sample card today I used the sweet baby carriage from the Bit of Stardust stamp set and colored it with Copic markers. I wanted the base of the carriage to look like it was woven and I applied Crystal Effects to the top piece (baby needs a hood on her carriage that will keep her dry if it rains!)

Kept the layout simple but added some stitching, embossing and ribbon... just because I can! :) Oh and some button wheels (seemed the thing to do, you know?!).

I'm thinking you would like to see a few more samples... yeah? Then take a little trip over to Heather's - I'm sure she has a fab card to share!

The Sweet Things

So, I've been slaving away in my craft room this week off and on making one little bitty project. Just one. It went a bit like this: ppply first coat of white paint. Wait for it to dry. Apply second coat of white paint. Wait for it to dry. Apply a glossy finish... wait for it to dry. Decide I need to add some Crystal Effects. And... wait for it to dry. Needless to say, I was testing my patience with this project! :)


But the final result is worth it! I dug through my stash of items to alter and found a wood purse-like box that I decided to decorate. The main sentiment is from the TSG set Art is the Window and the polka dot scallop and puppy are from Polka Dot Pals.

Here is a shot of the back. I used the same papers as the front but kept the layout very simple. I added dabs of Silver Pearl Liquid Pearls all along the edge (after sewing the layers together). Matching ribbon, twine and brads were also added.

The final shot is of the side of the box. Not much going on here. Just a bit of coordinating designer paper, more sewing and more Liquid Pearls. Oh... and at this point I taste tested the York Peppermint Patties. Quality control and all of that! ;)

Now I just need to find the perfect place for this box... before I eat all of the contents! :)

Crushin' on Corcord Flowers!

Hello!

I'm back with another Whipper Snapper sample. This time I am using the 'lollipop' flowers from the Garden Gnome stamp set. Not sure if Anna meant them to remind me of sugary sweet lollipops but they do! :) This batch are grape flavored. Nom nom nom.

Notes: Stamped the flowers in Memento Tuxedo white on white cardstock twice and colored. Trimmed the flowers and leaves from the second message and adhered over the first. The flowers and leaves were then accented with Frosted Lace Stickles (for extra sweet lollipopness!).

Kept the overall layout rather simple (still lovin' the clean look) and used a bit of ribbon, a few brads and a little edge punching to finish the look. What do you think? Do you like the new *cleaner* style or are you missing my more fussy cards? Or do you like both? :)

I Ruff You... Especially if you Have Chocolate

Popping in late tonight to share a TSG card using the recently released Puppy Love stamp set. I really {heart} this stamp set. Cute and fun to color - that does it for me!

I kept the layout very simple and limited the layers. I must admit that I'm liking the white space. *Gasp* Is my style changing? Am I going clean and simple? Ehh... probably not! ;)



Notes: Main image was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black twice on ivory cardstock and colored with markers. A couple of hearts were cut from the second image and adhered over the first. I then stitched the image to a Cherry Cobbler panel and added Crystal Effects to all of the hearts. I also stiched a slightly larger piece of designer paper to another panel of Cherry Cobbler.

To accent the card I added a couple lengths of different red ribbons (knotting the second piece) around the card. I punched two little hearts and added them to the cardbase using dimensionals and then topped them with adhesive crystals. Easy peasy!

Butterfly Kisses

Hello my Crafty Peeps!

I'm excited to share a card today that I made with a brand spanking new Anna Wight Cling set from Whipper Snapper! Woo hoo! Today is release day over at WS for two new sets: Butterfly Kisses and Garden Gnome. For my first sample I used the Butterfly Kisses set:

I stamped the main flower image on white cardstock and colored with Copic markers. I stamped a second time on another piece, colored and cut out two of the flowers and adhered over the first image with dimensionals. I added just a touch of glitter to the flowers with a Copic Clear Spica pen.

A little designer paper from October Afternoon, May Arts polka dot ribbon, few brads and button were used to accent the main image. I have the feeling I will be using this flower image often in the future... it is so fun to color! And I do love coloring! :)

Buzz on Over Anytime

Hey peeps! I took a bit of break from crafting and blogging this week. Horrors - I know! However I did spend a little time making a card and a scrapbook page inspired by the card. You can see the scrapbook page over at the TSG blog and here is the card:


Not my normal style but I really like how it turned out - simple but with a bit of oomph! Well, I'm off. I have a bit of shopping to do... grocery shopping and such. You are so jealous aren't you? Okay, maybe not! LOL!
