GirlieOnABench_DLounds_wm

I stamped the girl on white card stock and colored.  After trimming I sponged the edges with Antique Linen Distress ink, layered on Early Espresso and stitched the edges.  I stamped the sweet girl a second time, colored with Copic markers, trimmed and adhered over the first with foam dimensionals.  I added a touch of Crystal Fine Glitter to the flower on her hat and the red bellies of the birds using a 2-way glue pen.

Some dyed seam binding and pretty designer paper were used to compliment the main image.  Finished card size is 5” x 5”.

Today’s sneak peek is of the new Lighten Up stamp set.  It is a 4X6 stamp set that includes a total of 20 stamps and will sell for $15 and was illustrated by the talented Torico.

FancyLampLightsOn_DLounds_wm

I created a little lamp by mixing and matching a lamp shade with a lamp base. I stamped the lampshade on a second piece of white cardstock and colored the bottom portion and paper pieced the top portion.  I then added tiny black rhinestones.  The base was colored with Copic markers and accented with a Silver Copic Spica pen before being coated with Glossy Accents.

Day 1 TSG Sneak Peeks!

Hey peeps,

Today is the first day of sneak peeks for There She Goes Clear stamps!  We have not one but two stamps debuting for today’s Blog Hop.  Best thing is that if you hop long, leaving comments as you go you can win a free stamp set.  Check out the TSG Blog for all the details (and the start of the blog hop).  If you have been hopping along then you should have arrived here from Corinna’s blog. :)

Confidential Blog Hop Challenge

My first card uses the new Confidential stamp set.  It is a 4X6 stamp set that includes a total of 12 stamps and will sell for $15 and was illustrated by Jessica Knutsen.  It has all of those perfect sassy work/diva sayings that you just know you need. ;)

TodayIsNotYourDay_DLounds_wm

I decided to use one of the sentiments as the focal point and accented it by stamping the little flower vase two times.  A little color from my Copic markers and spica pens and a touch of color completed the main image.

TodayIsNotYourDay_DLounds_Closeup_wm

And because I feeling sassy I had to pull out some hot pink ribbon, do a little pleating and finish by sewing it in place with a straight stitch.  A crocheted flower and a corduroy brad completed the look. :)

Buckets of love Blog Hop Challenge

Next up is a card made using the new Garden of Life stamp set.  It is a 3X4 stamp set that includes a total of 7 stamps and will sell for $7 and was illustrated by the talented Chris Dark.  There is a really cute scene in this stamp set but I decided to give some loving to the sunflower image.

SunflowersOnParade_DLounds_wm

I went for a crisp and clean look this time but I did have to spend a little extra time on the flowers.  They were colored with Copic markers and then accented with Copic Spica pens for a touch of glitter.  After which I added Glossy Accents to the flowers and the leavers.

SunflowersOnParade_DLounds_Closeup_wm

Taylored Expressions Special Release

MidReleaseBadge

Surprise!  Taylored Expressions is have a special middle of the month release!!  We have so many fun stamps to showcase this month that we couldn’t fit it all into one release so we are bringing you a one-time mid-month release of 3 new stamp sets - Labels of Love, You're My Type - Upper and You're My Type - Lower.  Even more exciting is that they are designed to coordinate with Spellbinders dies!  And – the new sets are all available right now in the store!

We also want to take this opportunity to express a huge thank you to Spellbinders who generously provided our team members with Grand Calibur die cutting machines. Sweet, right? I've been using mine a bunch (especially with the Taylored Impression Plates – perfect impression each time) and I’m excited to show you a couple of projects that I made with the new stamps and using the Grand Calibur!

For my first card I used the new Labels of Love stamp set that coordinates perfectly with the Ribbon Tags Trio 3 set of Spellbinder dies.  Labels of Love was designed and illustrated by Taylor as part of the *te* collection of stamps and is a full sized set of 31 images (7 frames, 6 flourishes, 18 sentiments) that comes on a 5.75” x 8.5” full color sturdy storage panel.  This set is super versatile – the sentiments are perfect with the frames or can be used without them and they cover a wide range of occasion.  These stamps also work well with many other TE stamp sets including an oldie but favorite: For the Love of Cupcakes that I also used on my card.  Sweet sentiments and yummy cupcakes – perfect combination! ;)

HappyBirthdayCupcakes_Pinkaroo

I stamped the cupcakes on Choice Snow White cardstock and colored the frosting portion with Copic markers.  I then usednsome yummy new designer paper from the Neighborhood Collection by Crate Paper for the cupcake liner piece.  I used more of the papers from the 6 x 6 pad of the paper for various layers.  For extra sparkle I added Baby Pink Glitter Candy Dots to the each cupcake and then added a coating of Glossy Accents and a dusting of glitter.

Next up I stamped one of the frames from the set in Rose Coral Fluid Chalk ink on light pink cardstock and then cut out with one of the Ribbon Tag Trio 3 dies.  Next I stamped the sentiment in Rich Cocoa.  I threaded some ribbon and twine through the ribbon slide openings and attached the tag to the card front.

HappyBirthdayCupcakes_Pinkaroo_Closeup

For my next card I used the Grand Calibur again.  This time to die cut some extra big shapes using the Grand Nestabilities.  First up I wanted to create a scalloped circle card base.  I cut a 5 1/2” by 11” piece of cardstock, scored at 5 1/2” and folded in half.  I lined the die so that it overhung the scored edge by a bit, secured it in place with tape and then ran it through the Grand Calibur.  This gave me a nice scalloped circle card base.

SpellBindersThankYouPhoto1

Next I die cut another scalloped circle from another 5 1/2” square of the same cardstock.  Since I needed to keep a seam for the card you end up with a portion of the circle that’s a bit flat but you can cover that up by adhering a separately cut piece of cardstock over the front of the card base.  Oh – and the Grand Calibur has a large enough cutting base that you can do multiple cuts all at once, so I cut a slightly smaller circle from Early Espresso at the same time. Oh yay! :)

SpellBindersThankYouPhoto2

And here you can see my scallop circle card… Oh la la.  I can’t believe I waited this long to make a circle card.  Must make more of them!

I used the new You’re My Type – Upper stamp set, which includes 26 images A-Z, to create the “Happy” for the “Happy Birthday” sentiment flag.  There is also a new You’re My Type – Lower stamp set that includes 36 images A-Z plus numbers 1-0.  Each set comes on its own 4.75” square full color sturdy storage panel and are made of deeply etched rubber on EZ Mount cling and are all trimmed and ready to be used (I LOVE this part!).

I stamped the letters on a couple colors of cardstock and punched them out using the 1/2” circle punch (perfect fit!).  I then created a flag using one of the dies from the Nested Pennants set.  The “birthday” portion of the sentiment and all of the other fun images used on the card are from the delightful In the Park stamp set.

HappyBirthdayBicycle_UsingNestingPennants

The smaller pennant flag from the set of dies also makes a really fun decorative accent.  I used two of them towards the bottom of the card – fun fun!  I finished my card with some sweet Webster Page accents (pin and resin flower) and delightful Lily Bee designer paper.

HappyBirthdayBicycle_UsingNestingPennants_Closeup

So what do you think?  Do you like the new goodies?  Do you like my cards?  Should I make more circular cards? :)

Monochromatic Butterfly

Hiya!

I thought I would play along with the There She Goes Challenge for this week!  This week’s challenge is brought to us by our Trendsetter of the Week, Karen. She wants us to create a monochromatic card. Monochromatic is pretty easy – all you need to do is choose one or more shades of one color and for our challenge you can also use ONE neutral color of your choice. For all the details on the challenge head over to the TSG Blog.

For my card I went with shades of orange and a couple touches of black as my neutral of choice.  And what goes perfectly with orange?  A big bright monarch butterfly!  So as soon as I knew I was going to use orange I knew I wanted to use the Spread Your Wings stamp set!

OrangeButterfly_ManyThanks

I stamped two of the butterflies and colored both of them with Copic markers.  I trimmed both of them, cutting the wings off the second and layering over the first.  I used my fingers to curl the upper layer of wings a bit and then applied Glossy Accents and glitter.  Oh la la… I do love a little glitter.

OrangeButterfly_ManyThanks_Closeup

A few rhinestone swirls and black satin ribbon completed the card.  So what do you think… nicey nice?

Recipe:
Stamps: Spread Your Wings, Sentimental Thank You (There She Goes Clear Stamps).
Paper: Marigold Morning, Pumpkin Pie, Basic Black (SU!), Choice Snow White (Taylored Expressions), Stella Rose designer (My Mind’s Eye).
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copic markers.
Accessories: Corner Chomper (We R Memory Keepers), rhinestone swirl stickers, black brads (SU!), Glossy Accents (Ranger), Crystal Fine Glitter (Martha Stewart), heavy duty white thread and sewing machine, black satin ribbon (May Arts), foam dimensionals.

Shopping For Shoes

I have to laugh but this sentiment from the Fashionista set by Taylored Expressions fits my shopping style perfectly.  I like to get my clothes shopping done in one fell swoop so I tend to shop ‘til I drop and then I don’t need to again for a while. ;)  Oh, and I like shoes… so this set is perfect for me.  Hee hee.

ShoppingForShoes_PinkBlack

I stamped the lady and the shoes on white cardstock, colored with Copic markers and cut out.  I stamped her dress on designer paper and pieced onto the first stamped image.  I added touches of glitter with Copic Spica pens. I cut a few flowers from white felt and sewed buttons onto them after layering.  Some designer paper, glitter candy dots, ribbon and scallops were used to accent the card.  Hmmm… btw, I don’t own any pink shoes at the moment but maybe soon. ;)

Recipe:
Stamps: Fashionista (Taylored Expressions).
Paper: Naturals White, Pink Pirouette, Pretty in Pink, Basic Black (SU!), Choice Snow White (TE), Portrait Designer (Crate Paper).
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copic markers, Copic Spica pens.
Accessories: Medium Scallop Die and Friendship Flower Dies (Taylored Expressions), white felt, pink buttons, Pink Glitter Dots (Pebbles), twine and ribbon (May Arts), foam dimensionals.

Break Out Your Orange Alien Suit

You’re one of a kind so break out your little alien suit and do your best boogie!  At least that was my inspiration for the card I’m posting today. ;)  This little cutey of a stamp is from the set Out of This World by There She Goes Clear Stamps.  I stamped him three times and only colored one of them… because he’s a little different and stands out from the crowd of dancing aliens.

YoureOneOfAKind_OrangeAlien

After coloring the special alien I added a bit of glitter to the antennae and the darker spots on his suit with orange and yellow Copic Spica pens.  I also added some Glossy Accents.  YoureOneOfAKind_OrangeAlien_AlienCloseup

Also, this week’s TSG challenge (TSG102) is to use vellum so I had to find my stash of vellum (it is getting very low) and create a fun background.  I cut a piece of vellum to 4” high by 5 1/4” wide and embossed using the Stars Impression Plate from Taylored Expressions and the Grand Calibur die cutting/embossing system.  I then stitched the embossed vellum to a piece of yellow cardstock cut to the same size.  After layering on black cardstock I added some ribbon, twine and brads.

YoureOneOfAKind_OrangeAlien_VellumCloseup

So what do you think?  Does it qualify for the a Cuteness Award? :)

Recipe:
Stamps: Out of this World (There She Goes).
Paper: Naturals White, So Saffron and Basic Black (SU!), white (PTI), Fine and Dandy designer (My Mind’s Eye).
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copic markers, Copic Spica pens.

Carrot Car is Driving By

“Carrot Car!  Carrot Car!  Driving by on a Spring day!”  Sorry – couldn’t resist.  I think this fun carrot car, being driven by a bunny, needs its own theme song. :)  Ever since I received the Hello Spring stamp set from Taylored Expressions I’ve been obsessed with this little image and I finally made a card with it.  Took me long enough! :)

CarrotCar_SignsOfSpring_DLounds

I stamped the carrot car twice and colored both with Copic markers.  I then cut them out (just the car from the first image) and layered them together with dimensionals.  I applied a coating of Glossy Accents to the car and dusted with glitter and added a couple of rhinestone gems to the wheel rims… this is one stylin’ cruise-mo-bile!  I die cut a piece of yellow cardstock using the From the Heart Frame die and used the Hearts Impression Plate on the Kraft background.  A little scrap of designer paper and a bit of yellow ribbon finished the card.

CarrotCar_SignsOfSpring

One final note… instead of using my sewing machine I added a bit of faux stitching using a mat pack, paper piercer and white gel pen.  It’s been a long time since I pulled out the white gel pen. :)

Recipe:
Stamps: Hello Spring (Taylored Expressions).
Paper: Kraft, Barely Banana (SU!), Teal textured, Choice Buttercream (TE), Stella Rose – Hazel (My Mind’s Eye).
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copic markers, Copic Spica AtYou pens.
Accessories: From the Heart frame die, Hearts Impression Plate (Taylored Expressions), Corner Chomper (We R Memory Keepers), adhesive rhinestones (KaiserCraft), Glossy Accents (Ranger), Crystal Fine Glitter (Martha Stewart), white gel pen, ribbon, mat pack, paper piercer, foam dimensionals.

Pop a Squat

Hello!  Been a while, hasn’t it?  I took a little break from blogging the last few days because my allergies were on the rampage.  Blech!  But I’m back and crafting again.  So the first set I grabbed was the new My Little Friend from TSG.  I used three stamps from the set: an extra cute gnome home, a sitting gnome and the hilarious sentiment “Pop a squat and stay awhile.”

PopASquat_DLounds

I stamped the gnome and the home on white cardstock and colored with Copic markers before trimming.  I layered the gnome on the rooftop using foam dimensionals.  I added just a touch of Ranger Glossy Accents to the images and colored the mushroom spots with a Copic Spica AtYou glitter pen.  Next I diecut a Lacey Circle and a Circle using Nestabilities and adhered together.  I outlined the edge of the circle with Bisque Liquid Pearls and once dry added the main image using dimensionals.

PopASquat_MainImageCloseup

I stamped the sentiment on So Saffron cardstock and trimmed the ends with my scissors to create a little banner.  I used my fingers to add a bit of arch to the banner and adhered in place before adding a couple of brads and an acetate flower.

PopASquat_SentimentCloseup

A little designer paper and a bit of dyed seam binding finished my card.  And did you notice? No stitching at all on this card… gasp.  Hee hee hee!

Recipe:
Stamps: My Little Friend (There She Goes).
Paper: Soft Sky, Early Espresso, So Saffron (SU!), Ripe Avocado, white (PTI), Stella Rose – Gertie (My Mind’s Eye).
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copic markers, Copic Spica AtYou pens.
Accessories: brads (Recollections), ghost flower (Heidi Swapp), seam binding, dimensionals, Lacey Circle Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Bisque Liquid Pearls and Glossy Accents (Ranger).

TE Release Day: Dream Big

Hi everyone!  No more teasing today… all of the fabulous stamp sets, dies and card kits that the Baker Dozen have been showcasing the last couple of days are now available for purchase at Taylored Expressions.  You can see all of the new products in the Fresh Out of the Oven category in the store. :)ThursdayApril7th

But first check out this graduation card I made with the new Dream Big stamp set.  Instead of scholarly I went for a fun and feminine look this time.  Apparently I equate polka dots with fun. ;)

DreamBig_PinkAndPolkaDots

And here is a close up of the sentiment which I stamped in blank ink directly on the designer paper (Neighborhood by Crate Paper).  I don’t usually stamp on designer paper but I’m liking how this turned out.

TE Sneak Peeks: Card Kits, Banners and Moms

Hello!  Welcome to day two of sneak peeks for Taylored Expressions.  I’m excited because I have two fun projects to share with you… and since they didn’t involve spelling out the current year I didn’t have to redo them. ;)

WednesdayApril6th

First up I wanted to mention that as part of the release Taylored Expressions has created two fabulous card kits: Emma’s Shoppe and Hello Luscious.  For my projects today I used the Hello Luscious card kit which includes the following:

10 Choice Buttercream Cardstock A-2 card bases
10  A-2 envelopes
15 sheets of patterned paper sized for card making at 4" x 6" (3 sheets each of 5 double-sided patterns from the Basic Grey Hello Luscious collection)
20 sheets of 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" cardstock (4 sheets each of 5 colors)
1 package of Kaisercraft Rhinestones
8 panels of Choice Buttercream Cardstock size 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" (for images and layering)
5 yards of ribbon (2.5 yards each of 2 different styles)
1 Perfect Package Card Box

You can create at least 10 cards with the items included or switch things up and use the items to decorate the card box or something else crafty like a clipboard. ;)

For my first project I used the new Mom A La Carte stamp set, illustrated by the talented Nancy McKinney for the Whimsical Wishes line.  I stamped the image on one of the Buttercream panels and colored with Copic markers.  I added a bit of Glossy Accents to the cup and dusted with glitter. :)

MomYoureTheBest_UsingCardKit

I accented the main panel with Liquid Pearls and added a cute ribbon tag with a button and twine.  I matted various pieces of designer paper on card stock and stitched the edges with my sewing machine.

MomYoureTheBest_UsingCardKit_Closeup

Next up is a small wood clipboard that I covered with more of the designer paper.  I added a little banner to the top using the new Banner Day 3 Stamp set and matching Banner Day 3 Die.  I thought it would be cute to create a little holder for sweet little notes.

JustANoteClipBoard_UsingCardKit

For my first little note I used the tree image from the Branching Out stamp set and added a sentiment from the same set.  Yes, my tree has blue rhinestone fruit… heh heh heh.  And glittery leaves… cause that is just the way I roll. :D

JustANoteClipBoard_UsingCardKit_Closeup

The note is not attached to the clipboard so it can be removed and replaced with a different note. But I was lazy and it took a long time to cut out the tree and add glitter so I only made the one (insert some snickering noises here).

TE Sneak Peeks: Dream Big

Hello everyone! Guess what today is?! The first day of sneak peeks for Taylored Expressions and we have plenty of goodies to share today: Dream Big Stamp Set, Treasure Life Stamp Set, Apothecary Shelf A la Carte Stamp, Apothecary Taylored Die Set and the Stars Impression Plate. Oh nicey nice!

For my sample today I focused on the Dream Big stamp set which contains 26 stamps and is perfect for all of your graduation needs: congrats cards, invitations and so forth). The fabulous Nancy McKinney illustrated this set for the Whimsical Wishes line of stamps. I'm also using the neato Stars Impression Plate (love!).

From the set I used the big circular sentiment and then combined the "Class of" sentiment with the current year - the set comes with a set of numbers so you can customize the year. Of course this assumes that you can remember how to spell the year... yeah, the first time around I stamped "2001". What's up with that?!

But I got it right the second time around... and then I decided to cut the numbers out and use dimensionals to give 'em a little extra pop so I stamped them yet again. ;) I accented the card with a bit of stitching, dots of Liquid Pearls, some fun ribbon and my current fixation: Glitter Candy Dots.

Before I forget, all of the fabulous stamps set and dies that the team are showcasing today will be available for purchase at Taylored Expressions on Thursday at 8:00AM (PST).

So what do you think? I tried to keep my card simple (ha ha ha! - total fail!) and suitable for a guy or a girl. Hmm... but unless guys like glitter, scallops and pearls I may have failed at that too! ;)

Double Butterfly and Paper Rosettes

Hello! A couple of months ago Jessica from There She Goes posted a card using the Spread Your Wings stamp set. My reaction? Why don't I own that stamp set! It is GORGEOUS! Needless to say this set went to the top of my shopping list! :) I used two of the butterflies from the set to make this card:

Do you lovey? I pulled out the stops and created a layered four wing butterfly (I added glitter too!) that has its own personal paper rosette to call home.

So what do you think? Did I do this set justice? :)
