TE Sneak Peeks: A Day in Paradise

Hello!  How was your weekend?  I spent mine relaxing and catching up on some reading (and making a few cards). :)  I will admit that if the weather had been nicer (hello tornado warning) I might have spent more time outside… but the couch inside is comfy too.  But to make up for the less than stellar beach weather I had a couple of fun beach sets to use – the first sneak peeks for the June Taylored Expressions release!

I’m sharing samples using two new stamp sets today.  The first is A Day in Paradise which is a full sized set on a 5.75" x 8.5" full color sturdy storage panel.  It’s a sophisticated Cape Cod beach themed set illustrated by Nancy McKinney for the Whimsical Wishes Line.  I also used the new Wave Border Die.

I stamped the deck chairs in Memento Rich Cocoa ink and colored them pink and yellow with Copic markers.  I added a bit of sandy ground and a few weedy patches of grass.  I cut the image using an oval die, sponged the edges with Scattered Straw Distress Ink and added yellow Liquid Pearls along the edges.  I paired the fun image with some Echo Park – Splash designer paper and a Prima flower.

For my second card I used Beach Belle, a new Penguin Petite illustrated by Doug Applegate for the Apple Doodle Ink line.  The set of consists of 6 stamps and comes on a 3" x 5.5" full color sturdy storage panel.  There is also a matching fellow called Surf’s Up (but I didn’t use him…at least not yet!).

I stamped Belle on Choice Snow White and colored with Copic Markers and added a touch of Glossy Accents.  Umm… I tried to create a card without sewing on it.  Well… I accomplished that but the naked edges were driving me to distractions so I broke out the Liquid Pearls.  Ha ha ha.

Hello!  Are you looking forward to the weekend?  I am for a variety of reasons.  Number One – here in the US it is a holiday weekend and I get Monday off from work.  Woo hoo, three day weekend!  Number Two – they are calling for sunshine this weekend.  No more rain!  I’m very excited about this.  Number three – I have some new stamps to play with over the weekend. ;)

And speaking of stamps her is a sew fantastic card I made with a couple of older Taylored Expression stamp sets: From the Heart and From the Heart Funnies.  I used the little sewing machine image and created a sewing themed thank you card.  I even crocheted a matching flower. :)

 

Of course sewing machines can be stylish so I colored mine pink and coated the little hearts on it with a pink Copic Spica pen.  Of course if you are going to have a sewing themed card you really should add some sewing to it. So I did. :)

 

Here is a close-up of the flower and of the ribbon that I pleated as I adhered it to the card base.  I did run it through my sewing machine too… although the baker’s twine covers up the stitching.

For my card I used one of the windows and the little princess and positioned her so that she is sitting on the sill. :)

After coloring I used a gold Spica pen to add glitter to her crown and shoes.  I finished by adding rhinestones to the crown and added some Glossy Accents.  Gotta have some sparklies for the princess! :)

For my card I used the larger of the flower images and colored it with various shades of orange and green.  After diecutting with an oval die I added dots of White Opal Liquid Pearls.

 

For the rest of the card I used some matching My Mind’s Eye designer paper and more of the orange baker’s twine.  Yeah, I really really like the orange and aqua color scheme!  Hope you do to! :)

RCC4: Bring on the Cupcakes!

Hi all!  Welcome to another Ribbon Carousel Challenge!  This week we are using an image of cupcake stand filled with ribbon cupcakes as our inspiration.  Word.  Ribbon cupcakes?  So very cool and pretty!

For my card I used Celebrating Chloe (another stamp from Sparkle) and some delicious cupcake paper from the new Lime Twist line of designer paper by My Mind’s Eye.  I paired the paper and image with some extra nice satin ribbon.

After coloring Chloe with Copic markers I added a touch of glitter using a red Copic Spica Pen.  Of course a little stitching along the edges after layering on red cardstock didn’t hurt! :)

Although the ice cream was tempting I went low calorie and had the little girl hold a pinwheel instead.  I stamped the little girl twice and colored portions of both images.  I popped up her head, her left arm and the pinwheel with foam dimensionals. :)  I trimmed the main image to size, layered on Early Espresso and added some dots of Liquid Pearls. :)

I attached the sentiment as a flag using a crocheted flower and a green corduroy brad.  Loves me some crocheted flowers!

Happy Birthday Jessica!

Hello everyone!  Today I and a bunch of TSG fans and friends are celebrating our fearless leader’s birthday!  Okay, it isn’t until tomorrow but we wanted to surprise her!  The hop started at Angela’s Blog… so head over there if you want to start at the beginning.  Otherwise if you came here from Crafty Math Chick’s blog home you are at the right spot. :)

For my card I used a couple of the cute little girl sets from TSG.  I used the little girl with a balloon from Flying By and the “Happy Birthday” sentiment from Happy Mail.

 

AND I made my card into an Easel Card.  I haven’t done a technique-y card in a while but this week’s TSG challenge is to make an Easel Card so I though I would give it a try.  I like it! Maybe I will make more of these!

I added a couple of Prima flowers to finish the card but they were missing a something.  GLITTER!  So I added some Crystal Stickles to the flowers after adhering to the card front.

Thinking of You

Hello!  Did you see the weather earlier today?  Wow!  This morning and afternoon were beautiful.  A perfect sunny and warm day.  And then it rained… again.  So it looks like the weather for this year is one or two days of sun and warmth followed by a week of rain.  On the upside, all of the apple trees I planted last year and the year before are loving the rain.  They are all now taller than me!  Woot!  In a few years I will have fresh apples to munch on.  Nom nom nom! :)

Speaking of trees one of my favorite TSG stamp sets is Happy Day which features this fun tree.  For my card today I paper pieced the leaves from some polka dot designer paper. I even added a second layer of leaves for extra tree goodness (and coated them with Crystal Effects and glitter).  Tree fairies must have been having a party. ;)

A cute blue bird and some Bisque Liquid Pearls were used to accent the main tree image.  A little crinkly seam binding, a push pin and a few glittery candy dots finished the look.

May Blast from the Past Hop!

Hello everyone!

Today I’m participating in Taylored Expressions Blast From the Past blog hop.  It is a monthly hop for customers of TE… and it is the perfect opportunity to dust off your older TE stamps and show ‘em some lovin’. ;) 

So the theme for this month is to “Make it Masculine.”   Now that is a sight you don’t see very often on my blog.  After all, I do love my glitter and pretty ribbon.  However I managed to restrain myself (some twine did slip in) and made this card using the Belated Birthday – Oh Nuts A la Carte.

I stamped the squirrel twice and colored both images.  I trimmed both images (leaving off the tail on the second) and then layered them together using dimensionals.  I stamped the sentiment on light yellow cardstock and used some masculine colored designer paper from the Stella Rose Hattie line by My Mind’s Eye.

 

So I think I achieved a masculine look.  Let me know what you think!

Thank You Fairy Much

It’s Monday evening which means day one of the work week is complete! :)  Four more days until the weekend when if the weather is nice (unlike last weekend) I can get outside and do a bit (or a lot) of needed yard work.  Hmmm… I could use a couple of garden fairies to help!  And speaking of fairies here is a thank you card I made recently featuring the You Give Me Wings stamp from MFT. Think I can talk her into lending a helping hand or two?  Hmmm… from the expression on her face I’m thinking that is a “no!”  LOL.

I stamped the fairy girl two times and trimmed both images. I trimmed the image that would become the top layer very closely to the black lines. I left off the wings and her shoes as those would show from the bottom layer.  I coated her wings with Crystal Fine Glitter and colored the rest of the image with Copic markers.

Later gators – I’m off to finish cooking some super… corn on the cob is on the menu!  Nom nom nom!

Got You a Little Something…

I’m back!  But today it is a shabby (ish?) creation using one of the new Moka images from Taylored Expressions.  Oh, I love these sweet little people images! :)  I decided to use Moka Olivia to make a birthday card.  An orange birthday card.  Would you believe that until a year or two ago I did not like orange at all?  Now it is one of my favorite colors. :)

I stamped Olivia on Choice Snow White cardstock, colored with Copic markers and cut out.  I then die cut a lacey circle from light yellow cardstock and outlined with Buttercup Liquid Pearls.  Once dry I adhered Olivia to the circle with foam dimensionals.  Next I die cut a piece of designer paper and a piece of cardstock using a Labels die.  I used the same die for both and then trimmed the one cut from designer paper with my paper snips to make it a bit smaller.  The edges were then distressed, the layers adhered together and stitching added.  I then cut another piece of matching designer paper, roughed the edges and matted on more of the light aqua cardstock before adding stitching.  Around this layer I tied a piece of crinkly seam binding.  A little resin flower was adhered to the bow with Glossy Accents.

I stamped a matching sentiment from the set on another piece of the light yellow cardstock.  One end was trimmed into a flag and the edges were distressed before adhering to the card using dimensionals.  I then used some little letter stickers to spell out “Happy bday”.

Me likey!  What do you think?  Do you like the distressing and the crinkly seam binding?  I find myself heading for the edge distressing tool a lot lately. :D

A Special Gift

Hello!  How have you been?  I’ve been doing a little crafting this week… but not a whole lot of blogging!  So over the next few days I’ll have to quit being lazy and do some typing! :)  The first of my projects is a very bright birthday card made for this week’s TSG Challenge: TSG106.  I liked the bright colors and the vertical lines of the inspiration piece so I went with those! :)

I stamped the gift image three times, colored with Copic markers and cut each one out.  I used Copic Spica pens to add a touch of glitter and then coated the bows with Glossy Accents.  I kept the rest of the card very simple. :)

RCC2: Shabby Bunny is Hopping By

Hey peeps!  I have some exciting news!  I’ve joined the Carousel Crew over at the Ribbon Carousel Challenge blog! :)  So you can expect some fun ribbon-y creations from me every couple of weeks!

Today is my first day playing along with one of the challenges and it is a doozy!  Break out the shabby and make a chic creation.  For me, shabby means distressed edges, crinkly ribbon, doilies, crocheted what nots and stick pins.  For all of the challenge details (and instructions on how you can win a prize) and plenty of eye candy from the Carousel Crew check out the Ribbon Carousel Challenge Blog.

I don’t have any doilies or doily like dies so I used my Lacey Square Nestabilities.  For the main image I used the Warm Fuzzies stamp from the Pure Innocence line by MFT Stamps and colored the bunny suit with various pinks.

 

I used some seam binding I dyed with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist and a bit of white crocheted trim from May Arts to accent the main image.  A bit of designer paper from Pink Paislee was the perfect complement to the cardstock and Copic colors I used.  To finish the card I added some itty bitty Tiny Twinkles and a stick pin.  I did coat the tip of the pink with Glossy Accents… just to be safe! :)  Oh and while I had the Glossy Accents out I thought a little on the bunny ears and the tiny hearts would be nice. ;)

Hope you like my shabby card.  I must admit that I did a bit of a squee! when I saw my finished creation.  I may have to keep this one for a while!

Happy Mother’s Day!

Hi all!

Hope you have been having a great weekend and are enjoying the day.  It’s a beautiful day here and it finally seems like Spring! To celebrate I made a simpler card (no sewing) for Mother’s Day.  Well, it doesn’t say “mom” or “mother” on it anywhere but it will still work. ;)

I used my favorite lamp set: Lighten Up by There She Goes Clear Stamps and some pretty Lily Bee designer paper.  After coloring the main image (I stamped the light shade twice and popped the second one on top of the first with dimensionals) I added a touch of glitter with Copic Spica pens and adhered to tiny rhinestones.

 

Later gators… I need to go take a picture of the gift I bought my mom for Mother’s Day… yeah, I haven’t mailed it yet so I’m going to send a pic in the meantime! ;)

TE Release Day: Bringing Home Baby

Hello!  Today is the day!  All of the fabulous TE samples that we have been sharing are now available for purchase!  You can see all of the latest items in the Fresh out of the Oven category in the store.

Before you rush off to the store how about taking a peek at my project for today?  I mentioned in my Tuesday post that the new Bringing Home Baby set would be perfect for altering items or creating home decor.  Of course that was a hint that I had indeed used it to alter something… in this case a cute wood purse was turned into a fun gift holder!

And all of the designer papers, cardstock and the orange twill are from a new Project Pantry Kit!  Taylor is offering a couple of new baby themed kits.  For my project I used Alphabet Soup – Boy kit which contains the following items:

• 12 - 8.5"x11" sheets of cardstock (2 sheets each of 6 colors)
• 27 - 4" x 6" sheets of double-sided patterned paper (3 sheets each of 9 patterns)
• Want2Scrap Teal Baby Bling
• 3 yds. of ribbon (1 yard each of 3 different styles)
• 15 Mini Safety Pins (5 each of 3 colors)
• Die cut embellishments to match patterned papers

Yes – I finally used a boy theme for one of my baby projects! :)

 

The details: I covered the box with various pieces of the designer paper. I used Perfect Paper Adhesive to adhere the paper to the box and then once dry as a sealant over the paper.  Once dry I tied ribbon around the box and tied a tag to the handle using twine.  For the main focal image I used the dresser image from the Bringing Home Baby set.  I stamped the image twice and colored both with my markers (just the drawers on the second).  I then cut out the extra drawers and adhered them over the first set using dimensionals.  I used a silver Copic marker on the drawer pulls and then coated all of the drawers with Glossy Accents.

I needed just a bit more decoration so I stamped the ABC block image three times, cut out and adhered to the box in different places.  So cute… I’m not sure I will be able to part with this project! :)

Stamps: Bringing Home Baby (Taylored Expressions).
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copic markers, Green Fluid Chalk (ColorBox).
Paper: all papers are from the Alphabet Soup – Boy Project Pantry Kit (Taylored Expressions).
Accessories: ribbon (also from the kit), small oval punch, twine, foam dimensionals, wood purse, Perfect Paper Adhesive (USArtQuest), Glossy Accents (Ranger).

TE Sneak Peeks: It’s in the Bag and the Moka Girls

Hello Everyone!  Today is Day Three of sneak peeks for Taylored Expressions and we have some really neat stamp sets to share today.   First we have the It’s in the Bag stamp set and coordinating set of dies.  And we are also debuting a new line of character stamps illustrated by Nancy called the Moka Collection.  We are starting this collection with two fabulous girls: Jenn and Olivia. :)

First let me share a card I made using the It’s in the Bag stamp set and matching dies.  The die cuts the cutest little bag and the stamp set can be used to decorate it.  Of course the images are quite versatile and can be used with or without the bag die. :)  Since this is my first card made with the set I had to create a little bag.

Yeah – and I had to add a piece of chocolate to the bag (Hershey’s Special Dark)! :)  After cutting the bag with the new die I used the floral image from the set to make the bag all snazzy.  I then added a wire handle and decorated with some ribbon, twine and itty bitty label cut with another die from the set.  C U T E!

My next card uses Moka Jenn.  This sweet mini set includes the character image and a few matching sentiments.  I used the “oh baby” sentiment to create my very own background (stamp multiple times with VersaMark and then heat emboss with clear embossing powder) and a second sentiment as the main text.  I cut a circle from the cardstock and layered on a Lacey Circle cut from dark brown card stock.  To finish Buttercream Liquid Pearls were dotted around the edges.

I stamped Jenn in Memento Tuxedo Black on white cardstock and colored with Copic markers.  I added just a bit of Glossy Accents and glitter to the bottom of her shirt.  A bit of designer paper and a touch of ribbon and the card was finished.  Now I just need to find a preggo friend to send this to! :D
