JulyReleaseSample_TailFeathers_DLounds

For my card I used the fun peacock image and the matching “shake your tail feathers” sentiment.  I stamped the peacock twice and colored both with Copic markers.  I trimmed the body from the second image with scissors and adhered over the first using foam dimensionals.  I added rhinestones to the eyes of the feathers.  Some pretty Lily Bee designer paper, a bit of ribbon and a whole lot of sewing finished the card!

I used the boat and seagull images to create a fun scene.  After coloring I diecut the image with a Circle Nestabilities die and sponged the edges with Tumbled Glass Distress ink.  I added just a touch of glitter to the tops of the waves.  Extreme cuteness, I’m telling ya!

JulyReleaseSample_BigGirlThongs_DLounds

For my sample today I used a couple of the thong images and the punny sentiment “Put your big girl thongs on.”  LOL.  So much fun!  I paired the images with some love pink and green designer paper, kraft cardstock and lovely ribbon that I tacked in place with a bit of glue and then stitched across.

Keeping it Simple: Three Birthday Hats

Oh wow… I made another “simpler” card.  Two weeks in a row.  Oh the shock and the surprise at my consistency.  LOL!  Now if only I could stick with an exercise plan for this long. ;)

For this week’s simpler card I used the Make a Wish stamp set from There She Goes.  I stamped various hat images from the set on white cardstock and colored with Copic markers.  I added a touch of Glossy Accents to the trim and dusted with Crystal Fine Glitter.  Once dry I cut each of the hats out.

ThreeLittleBirthdayHats_DLounds

Next I cut a strip of designer paper and matted on Black cardstock.  I cut a piece of scallop edging using an edger punch and adhered it along the back side of the main panel.  The little sentiment was stamped on a small piece of cardstock and adhered to the card base after stamping the Yum image in Versamark.  Next I accent the main panel with a bit of twine and a couple of buttons and used dimensionals to attach all of the pieces together.  For a final touch I added two tiny rhinestones.

ThreeLittleBirthdayHats_Closeup_DLounds

Well… it is a bit more complicated than last week’s card but definitely simpler than my usual style.  Oh, and for those who like fussy and lots of layers… well, let’s just say that my samples for the next TSG release are completed and there is lots of stitching and designer paper.  Hee hee hee. :)

ThreeLittleBirthdayHats_MultiShot_DLounds

And like last week I made my simple card a few friends.  A couple of them I switched the yellow accents for bright pink.  Nicey nice!

Recipe:
Stamps: Make a Wish (There She Goes)
Paper: light blue/aqua, black (SU!), white (PTI), designer (Lily Bee Designs).
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, VersaMark, Copic markers.
Accessories: Buttons (PTI), Baker’s Twine (Divine Twine), Tiny Twinkles (Taylored Expressions), Scallop Edger punch (SU!), foam dimensionals, Crystal Fine Glitter (Martha Stewart), Glossy Accents (Ranger).

RCC12: Buttony Goodness

Hi Peeps!  Welcome to another Ribbon Carousel Challenge!  This week, Sparkle Smith is challenging us to use BUTTONS on our creations. Any size, shape, material or color is acceptable. Even paper buttons if you'd like.

RCC12

So break out those buttons and show us an exciting way to use them. Remember your creation can be anything from cards, quilts, sewn items, paper crafts, paintings, anything will work! It just has to include some form of ribbon, twine, thread – basically anything that could be stored on a spool!

I used a button on my card to spruce up a big orange bow! Not the most exciting use but it looks so pretty that I just know you will forgive my lack of imagination. :)

RCC12_WhatsCooking_DLounds

Hmmm… this first picture didn’t show the bow to perfection so I took a close up.  The vintage seam binding (from the Ribbon Carousel Store) really is quite pretty and doubly so when paired with a button and some Brown Sugar Divine Twine (also available in the RC Store).

RCC12_WhatsCooking_Closeup2_DLounds

The sweet stamps I used are from an a la mode set by My Favorite Things and the designer paper is from an Cosmo Cricket paper pad. This stamp is from yet another set I’ve had awhile and hadn’t had a chance to use.  Oh yeah – another one inked!  Of course I have some plans to do a bit of shopping this week so I’m sure there will be some new un-inked stamps demanding my attention soon! :)

RCC12_WhatsCooking_Closeup1_DLounds

For all the deets on this week’s challenge head over to the Ribbon Carousel Challenge Blog.  Oh – and before I forget the Ribbon Carousel Store is sponsoring this week’s challenge with a $10 gift certificate!  Woo hoo!  So get your crafty on and submit your button-rific samples.  Okay?  :)

Recipe:
Stamps: What’s Cooking? a la mode (My Favorite Things)
Paper: Early Espresso, Soft Sky, Naturals White (SU!), designer (Cosmo Cricket), white (PTI).
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copic markers.
Accessories: button, vintage seam binding, Brown Sugar Baker’s Twine (Divine Twine), Lacey Circle Nestabilities (Spellbinders), heavy duty white thread and sewing machine, foam dimensionals, adhesive rhinestones (Kaiser Craft), Corner Chomper (We R Memory Keepers).

Congratulations Blimp

Eeps!  I’m a little late posting this card today but it is cute so you’ll forgive me won’t you? :)

I stamped a blimp and one of the banners from the In the Clouds stamp set and colored them with Copic markers.  I used the matching dies to cut them out.  I decided that I needed a cloudy background so I pulled out the new Clouds Border Die from Taylored Expressions and cut a strip of cardstock that I used as a template to create the clouds.

CongratulationsBlimp_DLounds

Because blimps are fun I decided to coat this one with Crystal Stickles.  To finish the card I added a few buttons, a length of ribbon and Bisque Liquid Pearls.

CongratulationsBlimp_Closeup_DLounds

So what do you think of the color combination of Turquoise and Yellow?  I must admit this isn’t one that I would come up with on my own… the pretty colors of the designer paper inspired me. :)

Recipe:
Stamps: In the Clouds (Taylored Expressions).
Paper: Naturals Ivory, Tempting Turquoise (SU!), Choice Snow White (Taylored Expressions), Happily Lost designer (Lily Bee Designs)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copic markers, Tumbled Glass Distress Ink (Ranger).
Accessories: Bisque Liquid Pearls, Glossy Accents, Crystal Stickles (Ranger), Circle and Petite Scalloped Circle Nestabilities (Spellbinders), Cloud Border Die (Taylored Expressions), Blimps and Banners Dies (Taylored Expressions), ribbon, buttons, heavy duty white thread and sewing machine, foam dimensionals.

Keeping it Simple: This Light is for You!

If you have been following my blog for a while you might have figured out that I use a lot of layers, sew all over the place and enjoy using lots of bling (ohhh glitter – how I love thee).  So how about I switch things up a bit and make something a tad simpler?  Maybe challenge myself once a week to make a card that attempts to be CAS (clean and simple)?  You’ll notice I said “attempt” there.  I don’t know if I can go totally CAS on a consistent basis but I should be able to simplify my normal style. :)  Anyways, here is my first attempt:

LifeIsBrighter_GoingSimple_Single

Of course… it being a simpler card I decided to make four of them, two of which I have added to my Etsy Store as a set. ;)

The details: I stamped the lamp on white cardstock, colored and cut out.  I stamped the same image on the Kraft base and then adhered the colored pieces into place, using dimensionals on the lamp shade.  I added a strip of designer paper and a strip of Rich Razzleberry cardstock that was scalloped along the bottom edge.  To finish I stamped a sentiment and rounded the top corners.

LifeIsBrighter_GoingSimple_4Pack

So what do you think? Would you like me to continue sharing my attempts at simpler cards? Would you like to play along?  If so, let me know! ;)

Recipe:
Stamps: Lighten Up (There She Goes Clear Stamps).
Paper: Rich Razzleberry, Kraft (SU!), white (PTI).
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copic markers.
Accessories: Tiny Twinkles (TE), Scallop Edger Punch (SU!), foam dimensionals, Corner Chomper (We R Memory Keepers).

If Friends Were Flowers

Hi all!

I’m checking in today with a sweet card I made with another neglected Whipper Snapper stamp from the Spring release: Three Flower Friend.  So very cute and sweet.  I kept the color palette mostly neutral and then added a few pops of color.  I even used More Mustard cardstock… not one of my favorites but I really like how it looks on this card. :)

ThreePotsOfFlowers

I stamped the image in Memento Tuxedo Black on white cardstock and colored with PrismaColor pencils.  I stamped one of the little pots a second time, colored and trimmed.  It was than adhered over the middle one with dimensionals.  I accented the main image with a small strip of designer paper layered on Early Espresso cardstock.  After stitching the edges I sewed a length of twill ribbon along it… ruffling it a bit messily as I sewed. :)

ThreePotsOfFlowers_Closeup

So what do you think?  I really need to give more lovin’ to my Whipper Snapper stamps. :)

Recipe:
Stamps: Three Flower Friend (Whipper Snapper Designs).
Paper: Early Espresso, More Mustard, Naturals Ivory (SU!), Choice Snow White (TE).
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, PrismaColor pencils and OMS.
Accessories: Labels Nestabilities (Spellbinders), embossing folder (QuicKutz), yellow twill ribbon (May Arts), rhinestones (Kaiser Crafts), heavy duty white thread and sewing machine, foam dimensionals.

 GoodBooks_SCRSAnny_Dlounds

For my eye candy today I used the new Bookworm Ruby.  I love to read so I just had to use this little sweetheart of a stamp for my card today.  I stamped Bookworm Ruby in black and colored her with Copic markers.  I added a touch of Silver Copic Spica pen to her glasses and the edges of her sweater vest.  I also added Glossy Accents to her glasses and the cover of the book she is holding.

Follow Your Dreams

Are you ready for a bit of sparkle?  This week’s TSG challenge, TSG 114, is brought to us by our Trendsetter of the week: Ann.  She is challenging us to add glitter, glitz and bling!  Well, you just know that this challenge fits me to a T!  :)

I’ve been drooling over this mushroom image from The Fairy Best stamp set since I first saw it!  Such a cute community of mushroom houses and the perfect opportunity to give oodles of Copic markers a workout.

FairyBestMushrooms_DLounds

I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on white cardstock, colored with Copic markers and cut with a Labels Nestabilties die.  I used the Clouds Border die and Tumbled Glass Distress ink to sponge the cloudy sky.  To finish I added Glossy Accents to the mushroom spots and dusted with Crystal Fine Glitter.  I also added dots of White Opal Liquid Pearls to the edges of the main image.

FairyBestMushrooms_Closeup_DLounds

So what do you think?  Is that cloudy background fabulous or what?  I have the feeling that this might be a go to technique for future cards!! :)

RCC10: Cut and Paste

RCC Weekly Challenge Icon

This week, Jessie Knight Rone is challenging us to break out those scissors and glue at the Ribbon Carousel Challenge (RCC10). Jessie wants us to do a little Paper-Piecing somewhere on our creations! From little dresses to trees or fairy wings, paper-piecing can add lots of pizzazz to a project. Remember your creation can be anything from cards, quilts, sewn items, paper crafts, paintings, anything will work!

*** Please remember that your creation must have ribbon, bakers twine, jute twine, lace (basically anything that comes on a spool). ***

 MudBuddies_RCC11

For my card I used a super cute Pure Innocence image from MFT Stamps, some lovely vintage seam binding and a small piece of crocheted ribbon.  I paper pieced her overall and her cute polka dot boots from Stella Rose – Mabel designer paper.  The rest of the image was colored with Copic markers and I sponged the cloud background using Ranger Distress Ink and a cloud template I cut using Taylored Expression’s Cloud Border Die.

MudBuddies_Closeup_RCC11

More designer paper, some stitching added with my sewing machine and a few rhinestones finished my project! :)  Hope you like it!

Paper: Naturals Ivory, Early Espresso (SU!), white (PTI), Stella Rose – Mabel designer (My Mind’s Eye).

Friends are so Refreshing

They are especially refreshing if they share their ice cream with you! :)  Speaking of ice cream I have this sweet card I made with Freeze the Moment from There She Goes clear stamps. :)  I call this a limited supply card… all I had were the crafting supplies I could fit in one tote bag plus some cardstock I borrowed from my mom.  Happily my mom has quite a bit of paper crafting loveliness in her collection that she lets me dig through when I’m visiting.  LOL!

RefreshingFriends_TSG

I stamped the little girl from the set in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on white cardstock and colored with PrismaColor Pencils.  The pencils take up less room in my tote bag than my Copics so they are my coloring medium of choice while traveling.  I added Ranger Glossy Accents to the ice cream cone and her hair bows (which were than glittered).  A pretty flower, a little designer paper, sans sewing, and a bit of ribbon finished the card.

RefreshingFriends_Closeup_TSG

Hope you like it!  :)

 BirdsOfAFeather_Friday_DanielleLounds

For my project, Tweety Bird Tags, I used the new Birds of a Feather stamp set, the Birds & Branches die set and the Clouds Impression Plate.  Just a note about the impression plate – it is double-sided and large enough to completely emboss a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 card front.  I used the impression plate in the Grand Calibur by Spellbinders.

Onto the card details!  I stamped a bird cage from the set in blue ink on Choice Snow White cardstock and die cut with a Circle Nestabilities die.  I then added Liquid Pearls along the edges.  Next I die cut some birdies using the matching Birds & Branches Dies.  After adhering the birdies to the bird cages I coated them with Crystal Stickles.

BirdsOfAFeather2_Friday_DanielleLounds

Then I created the tag base by embossing Bashful Blue cardstock with the Clouds Impression Plate.  I added a strip of designer paper, rounded the corners and matted on Night of Navy cardstock.  Next I stitched around the edges and then adhered a bit of pom pom trim over the designer paper and added twine and a button.  To finish the tag front I added a jumbo eyelet and threaded orange twine through it and adhered a few Tiny Twinkles rhinestones.  For the tag backing I cut a piece of Naturals White cardstock to size, stamped a sentiment, rounded the corners and added the tag front using foam dimensionals. Nicey Nice.  Do you like them?  Would you like to see more tag projects or are you getting bored with them?  Let me know!
