You inspire me…

Hello Crafty Friends -

Have you been having a good week?  I hope so!  I’ve been eyeing mixed media projects lately (so much beautiful inspiration out there) and thought it would be fun to play a bit. I’m not ready for a big project so thought I should play with a smaller canvas.  And a smaller canvas to me is a tag. :)

I’ve tried a few things (my first tag was a real dud!) but I’m a learning.  For this tag I used gesso and Distress Stains and a bit of Distress Pain.

Pretty, right?  Some steps: paint the tag with white gesso and let dry; scribble some different colors of Distress Stain on a Non-stick Craft Sheet and smoosh the painted side of the tag in the blobs; spray tag with water and blot excess liquid with paper towels – this gives a nice soft base color; smoosh tag in remaining stain and blot excess with paper towels; continue this process until you get the desired results and then let dry. Note – each time the spots get smaller and smaller because the amount of leftover stain on the craft sheet is reduced.

For a bit more color use a stencil and some Distress Paint to add color here and there.

Once the tag finished drying I added some embellishments and a few stamped images from the Flutter By stamp set from Lawn Fawn.  I also added one of the new Prima wood clips. Love. These. Clips. So. Much! I’ve already bought three sets and I think I must get the rest of them. All mine – heh heh.

And here is a side shot so you can see the detail – I used dimensionals like usual. ;)

Later gators – I need to get more ice. Burned my finger on my Panini Grill earlier tonight.  Ouch!
