Just a Note

Hello!  I found some time last night to work on an idea I’ve had for a while.  I love the Townscape On-The-Edge die by Sizzix and since I bought it I have been itching to make a colorful house scene. So I did… finally. :)

I took some pictures while working and thought you would like to see the process.  It is messy but good messy.

First I die cut a bunch of houses from designer paper and trimmed so I would have each house in a different pattern.  Next I cut the whole row of houses from chipboard and yet another color of designer paper (although it really didn’t matter which color of paper I used for this last cut out).

Next I adhered each of the individual houses to the chipboard. Because it was looking a little rough along the bottom I took the final cutout and cut off the houses so I would just have a piece of ground that could be added.

Next I took Walnut Stain Distress Paint and painted the ground. For a final touch, I dabbed some of the paint on a craft sheet and diluted with water and then used my finger dipped in the paint to dirty the houses… just a bit.

After the paint dried, I coated each house with Glossy Accents and then sprinkled some Clear Rock Candy Distress Stickles here and there.

The bottom was still a bit messy looking so I added some Green Woven Burlap and stapled it in place using the Tiny Attacher.  And something was not quite right… so I added Scattered Straw Distress cardstock behind each house.

The rest of the card is quite basic… some designer paper applied to the card base.  A panel of cream cardstock matted on Kraft cardstock before stitching the edges with my sewing machine.

Of course the card needed to say something. The sentiment is from the new Slang Gang by Paper Smooches stamp set.  And lastly, I added some Lippy Red rhinestones.

Hope you enjoyed these little houses. :)
