Warm Winter Wishes– Background Tutorial

Hello everyone – hope you are having a great weekend. The weather here is a bit… yucky, so I’m going to spend as much time as possible indoors. ;)

First thing on my to do list today was to start on my crafty projects by making this card featuring images from the Wonderful Winter Wishes stamp set from There She Goes:

Do you like that background? This first picture doesn’t do justice to all of the shimmery goodness that the background has but some of the close-ups later in the post do. I took a few pictures of the process to share with you.

1. Using a border image from the stamp set and white embossing powder, heat emboss on white cardstock until completely covered.

2. Once complete, gather some different colors of Distress Stains. The plan was to use five colors: Chipped Sapphire, Salty Ocean, Tumbled Glass, Forest Moss, and Crushed Olive.

3. Start with the first color and swipe across the embossed cardstock.

4. Repeat with the rest of the colors until completed colored (I ended up needed a sixth color so I added Squeezed Lemonade).  Use a paper towel to wipe off any extra stain. Then while drying gather the next supplies: Perfect Medium Clear ink, Confetti White Perfect Pearls, and a paint brush.

5. Completely ink up the background with the Perfect Medium ink and then use a paint brush to brush on the Confetti White Perfect Pearls until the background is completely covered.  This gives the paper such a pretty shimmer.

6. Take your finished background and make a card.  I used a sweet image and sentiment from Wonderful Winter Wishes.  For embellishment I added a Prima butterfly clip and a bit of printed twill tape that has been in my stash forever (not anymore as I used it all up).

And check out that shimmer! The white embossing powder looks especially pretty now that it has been tinted with the Perfect Pearls. :D
