SCRSC103: Farm Livin’ …

Hi all – Rumor has it that my sister-in-law and nephew are starting a little garden of potted vegetables so I thought it would be fun to make a card for them using the Farming Oliver stamp. And it is perfect timing for this week’s Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps challenge.

The challenge this week is to use the provided sketch. For all of the details of the challenge, head over to the Sparkle Creations Blog. You can find Sparkle Creations stamps online at the store HERE.

Here is a close up of the image… lots of fun detail to color on this one. :)  The sentiment is from the Anna Wight - Farm Fresh cling set (Whipper Snapper Designs).

My gnome friend says “Hi.”

Hello – I’m looking forward to a weather forecast of sunshine and blue skies later this week.  We’ve had a day or two of sunny goodness but I’m thinking a few days in a row would be great. And if the forecast is off, I will just have to get a dose of the blue and yellow from this garden gnome tag:

GnomeColorWashedTag_DanielleLounds

The little images are from the Gnome Sweet Gnome stamp set by Lawn Fawn.  Instead of making a card I made another gift tag.  To create the background I did the following:

  1. Paint manila tag with white gesso and let dry.
  2. Swipe different colors of Distress Stain across the tag and then spray with water and blot. This gives a subtle application of color.
  3. Swipe the Distress Stains across the background again (apply the same colors on top of the first colors), let sit for a few moments and then blot.  Do not spray with water before blotting with paper towels. Let dry
  4. To finish spray with Calypso Teal Dylusions Ink Spray in a couple spots. Bloat excess color and let dry.

GnomeColorWashedTag_Closeup2_DanielleLounds

Once the tag was dry I stamped a grass border along the bottom in Jet Black Archival ink.  I stamped the gnome and watering can on white cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  I colored the images with Copic markers, cut out and adhered to the tag using foam dimensional tape.

So what do you think?  I’m thinking he will be the perfect accent for gift packaging… maybe tied to a pot of flowers. :D

Iron Craft Challenge

Hello Crafty Friends -

A little while back Chaitali asked me if I would be willing to take part in an Iron Craft challenge – a lot like Iron Chef but with chopping cardstock instead of vegetables. ;)  I was more than honored to be asked to participate so of course I said yes.

Our ingredients? Honeycomb paper from Inky Antics and the Ba Donky Donk stamp set from There She Goes.  This combination just screams fun!

BaDonkeyDonk_withHoneycombBall_DanielleLounds

My favorite honeycomb paper is the rainbow set so I pulled that out and created a big ball for the donkey to balance on.  He’s talented, very talented.  I cut some clouds from white felt using clouds dies from Taylored Expressions and then I cut a border of grass from green felt.  No die for the grass – I just snipped away with some scissors.  I balanced out the brightness of the ball with a touch of bright pink ribbon.

BaDonkeyDonk_withHoneycombBall_Closeup1_DanielleLounds

I added some tiny rhinestones to the clouds and stamped the sentiment on a tab cut out using a die from My Favorite Things.  The finished card measures 3.5” wide by 5.5” tall.  So… I probably won’t mail this card since the rainbow ball really sticks out.  Instead I will probably just punch a hole in the top and tie the card to a gift like I would a big tag. :)

If you haven’t been over to Chaitali’s blog yet, I recommend you pop over there to see her take on the challenge. :)

Edited to add: I forgot to mention this earlier - there is a prize!!! There She Goes Stamps has very generously sponsored a giveaway of $15 gift certificate for one lucky winner.  So you should really head over to Chaitali’s blog. :D

TSG Blog Hop: Chalkboard Memories

Hello, Fellow Crafters – It is the final day of sneak peeks for There She Goes Clear Stamps. It has been a fabulous week of new sets and this last one is a goodie too!

Chalkboard Memories Blog Hop Challenge

Jessica and Tobi have been hard at work creating an AMAZING new set for us, Chalkboard Memories. If you are familiar with the VERY popular Chalkboard Technique, this set was created for that particular style! It is full of SUPER cute images, and FABULOUS sayings…and the chalkboard itself? Fantastic!

Chalkboard Memories is a 4x8 set that includes a total of 18 stamps and will sell for $18.00 . The new stamps will be available on Saturday, April 27th at 11pm.

ChalkboardReleaseSample_DanielleLounds

There are some amazing sentiment stamps in this set – love the combination of fonts.  I used three different ones to create a set of big tags (each one is 6” tall).

ChalkboardReleaseSample_Closeup_DanielleLounds

I stamped each sentiment in Emboss It ink (Ranger) on black cardstock and heat set with white embossing powder.  Once cooled I added smudges to the cardstock using a white ink pad (Whisper White Craft from SU!).  Once dry I layered on ivory cardstock cut out with a postage stamp die from Spellbinders and then stitched the edges.

After covering each tag with designer paper from Prima; for embellishment I used ivory grosgrain ribbon, black twine, some alphabet twill, a button and a wood butterfly.  Once I had the design down they were quite quick to make. :)

And here are shots of each tag individually:

TSG Blog Hop: Larry

Hello!  Welcome to the third day of sneak peeks for There She Goes Clear stamps!  We’ve had pirates and little girls and flowers and now… socks?!

Larry Blog Hop Challenge

Ready to meet our newest sock goblin from Wendy Leach? He’ll steal your heart! And Larry is ready for a day at the office, can’t you tell?

Designs by Wendy Leach

Larry is a 3x4 set that includes a total of 5 stamps and will sell for $9.00.

LarryReleaseSample_DanielleLounds

I have to admit, I love Larry’s spots. So much so, that I made them the theme for my card with polka dot washi tape and a spotted background (made with a stamp from the set).  I did add some contrasting texture with the corrugated butterfly (used a Tim Holtz Alterations die), gingham ribbon (May Arts) and leaf designer paper (Prima).

LarryReleaseSample_Closeup2_DanielleLounds

After coloring Larry, I added some Glossy Accents to his spots. It’s all part of his business attire for work. When he is heading to a festive party he wears his glittery spots. lol. :D

GingerReleaseSample_DanielleLounds

For my sample today I used Ginger and made a wonderfully layered card.  Many, many foam dimensionals were sacrificed to make this card. ;)  I used Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 182 for the layout and the designer papers are from The Sweetest Thing – Honey paper pad from My Mind’s Eye.

GingerReleaseSample_Closeup1_DanielleLounds

After coloring Ginger and then cutting out I highlighted her hair with a Clear Copic Spica pen and then added Glossy Accents here and there.  I also added a touch of glitter to a couple of the hearts. I used some of my favorite embellishments: Liquid Pearls from Ranger and ribbon from May Arts (I’m a bit addicted to the Raspberry Ric Rac at the moment).

Live in the Moment Tag

Hello -

I’ve been on quite the tag kick (what a surprise!) and have another one to share with you today.  This is another tag that I started by painting with with gesso and then embellishing.

EmbossedSewingTag_ForIE_DanielleLounds

I know a few people who enjoy sewing so I went with that for my theme today and used a couple of images from the Tim Holtz – Mini Blueprints 3 stamp set. And since these fabric artists are always making beautiful creations I thought the sentiment from Urban Chic was appropriate.

After attaching the sentiment panel with a jumbo eyelet and decorating with Liquid Pearls I added a bunch of sewing-related embellishments: stick pins, burlap, twine, and ribbons.

EmbossedSewingTag_Closeup1_ForIE_DanielleLounds

To recreate the look of the tag here are a few steps:

SewingTagTutorial_Step1_DanielleLounds

1. Paint tag with white gesso and let dry.  Then stamp images with an Emboss It ink pad and heat set with black embossing powder.

SewingTagTutorial_Step2_DanielleLounds

2. Scribble over image with Distress Markers and blend colors using a brush and water. I did one color at a time and let the tag dry a bit in between.  Here you can see the bobbins colored with Spiced Marmade (already blended) and the sewing machines started with Worn Lipstick.

SewingTagTutorial_Step3_DanielleLounds

3. The Worn Lipstick blended with water.

SewingTagTutorial_Step4_DanielleLounds

4. I finished coloring and blending the stamped images using Antique Linen, Frayed Burlap, and Pumice Stone.  I’ve begun coloring the background by added scribbles of Broken China here and there.

SewingTagTutorial_Step5_DanielleLounds

5. The finished tag base.  Let dry and then decorate the tag. Below is another close-up of the finished tag.

Note: the main layer is help in place with the jumbo eyelet and the staples that I attached through the burlap and ribbon.  This way you can pull the sentiment panel back and see more details of the tag base. :)
