U Did It Accordian Flip Card

Hi all -

Have you been having a good weekend?  I’ve been having a good one sitting back and relaxing and doing a bit of crafting using some new goodies.

I picked up a couple of fun Bigz Dies from Sizzix: the Accordion Flip die and coordinating Label & Frame, Bracket die. And since the Lawn Fawn stamp sets are back in stock at the Inspiration Emporium I decided to give those a whirl (or an inking).

The result is an extra big congratulatory card with four panels that flip. :D

In order to take a picture of the front I had to use a small clothespin the keep it closed. Lots of dimension on this project.  For the first panel I spelled out “U did it” using Thickers foam stickers.

Since I was going for a nature theme, I used Burlap ribbon and some twine as decoration. Throughout the card I used Walnut Stain to distress the panels and even the white foam letters (they were just too bright). And for a final touch I added a stamped mushroom that was embellished with Glossy Accents and glitter after coloring with Copic markers.

The second page features a couple of trees and a little birdie.  I added some drops of dew to the trees using Glossy Accents and more of the glitter (just a very light dusting).

The third page features a cute porcupine and the first of the chat bubbles. I cut a circle from Burlap and added some rhinestones and liquid pearls as embellishment.

The final page features the foxy fox and a second chat bubble.  Woo – hoo.  Such a fun project and I hope you enjoyed it!

RS70: Many Thanks

Hello – It is Saturday and I have another card featuring the latest and greatest sketch from Retro Sketches. This is my last week as a guest designer but I’m sure you will still see my take on their sketches here – they are my favorite sketch blog after all. :D

RS70Sample_ManyThanks_DanielleLounds

I used a couple of Lawn Fawn stamp sets to make my card (they are back in stock at the Inspiration Emporium): Many Thanks and Flutter By. I kept things simple but used a bright color scheme. Hmm… haven’t seen much sun or butterflies lately.  I think they’ve been drowned out by all of the rain.  On the upside – I’ve had lots of time to spend making cards. :D

But before I forget, here is the sketch:

To see more fantastic samples, head over to the Retro Sketches blog.  Finally, I have a close up of the butterfly, which I decorated with Glossy Accents and some crystal fine glitter.

P.S. Rhinestones are from Kaiser and the designer paper is Knee Highs by Basic Grey (one of my current favorites).

Pandamonium Blog Hop Challenge

Melyssa is back this month with another animal set, and it is PANDAmonium! So. Many. Cute. Pandas. Full of sentiments, images, and FUN, you are SURE to love this set as much as WE do!

Melyssa

PANDAmonium is a 6x8 set that includes a total of 23 stamps and will sell for $24.00.

PuffyHeartYou_DanielleLounds

I love the pandas but I also loved this sentiment in the set so I just had to make a card using it. I coated the heart with Glossy Accents and sprinkled a bit of clear glitter on the side so that it would look even puffier.

PuffyHeartYou_Closeup_DanielleLounds

And… I made two of these cards.  I have plans to make a couple more designs using the stamp set (this time with pandas) and then package them all together and give them to my niece as a gift. She LOVES pandas. :D

TSG Blog Hop: Embrace Happiness

Hello – welcome to the second day of sneak peeks for There She Goes!

Artist Megan Suarez has two fabulous sets for us this month, both a continuation of her previous lines. Amalia’s Daisy, the second Amalia stamp for us, is SUPER adorable, and sure to make her way into your heart one flower at a time. Cinnamon is the newest addition to the Spice Girl line. I love how spicy but sweet these girls are!

For my sample today I used the Amalia’s Daisy stamp set to create a little scene.  I built a flower using the bloom and leaf stamps and just drew in a stem.

AmaliasDaisyReleaseSample_DanielleLounds

I used a Cloud Border die and Tumbled Glass Distress Ink to create a cloudy sky and then drew in the ground using Copic Markers.  For extra texture I added dots along each cloud line using a white gel pen. The flowers were stamped an extra time on designer paper, coated with Diamonds Stickles after cutting out and for a final touch a rhinestone was added to the center of each one.

AmaliasDaisyReleaseSample_Closeup_DanielleLounds

Note – I stamped the images two times.  Once directly on the background to build the scene and then a second time on white cardstock that was colored and then cut out.  I did this so I wouldn’t have to mask the images when sponging the background… I’m lazy that way. ;)

TSG Blog Hop: This is my life

Hiya Crafty Friends -

It is that wonderful time of the month – the first day of sneak peeks for new There She Goes stamp sets.  And guess what? We are releasing some really really fun sets! :)

This Is My Life Blog Hop Challenge

First up, Torico has designed a set that will be useful to card makers, scrapbookers, and multi-media artists alike. This is my life helps you tell your story, your way. Super cute images, fonts, and the number of sentiments and their possibilities are endless.

Print

This is My Life is a 4x6 set that includes a total of 21 stamps and will sell for $15.00.

ThisIsMyLifeReleaseSample_DanielleLounds

I used three of the stamps in the set to create this fun sentiment!  I was in the mood for colorful so I pulled out my Copic markers and the Knee Highs paper pad from Basic Grey. A button and a bit of washi tape and ribbon were used as embellishments.

SCRSC107: Chillax

Hello! It is time for my take on the latest challenge from Sparkle Creations and it is a beautiful beachy one.

SCRSC107_UkuleleJoshChillaxin_DanielleLounds

For all of the details of the challenge, head over to the Sparkle Creations Blog. You can find Sparkle Creations stamps online at the store HERE.

scrsc107

I loved the colors in the inspiration piece and the idea of being on a beach relaxing so I went with those themes on my card.  And Ukulele Josh in his beach clothes and playing an instrument was the perfect image… although I did add pink flowers to his shirt.

SCRSC107_UkuleleJoshChillaxin_Closeup2_DanielleLounds

The pretty papers are from the Splendid paper collection by Authentique.  I paired them with a Prima Paper clip, a button, some rhinestones and ribbon from May Arts.  The sentiment is from the Slang Gang stamp set by Paper Smooches.

That’s it for me… check back later today for another crafty card. :D

Something old, something new…

Hello. This month’s challenge at the Inspiration Emporium is all about brides, weddings and anniversaries.  The challenge is open to interpretation but I took it literally and made a card with a bride on it.

IEJuneChallenge_IDo_DanielleLounds

The bride is from the I Do stamp set by The Greeting Farm and I colored her with Copic markers.  After cutting out I coated her veil with Diamond Stickles and added Glossy Accents to her tiara.

IEJuneChallenge_IDo_Closeup1_DanielleLounds

For the panel behind her, I cut triangles from the So Noted designer paper and layered them on a piece of off-white cardstock (doesn’t show) before stitching the edges with my sewing machine. I embossed the panel beneath with the Gears embossing folder and finished the card with a few brads and some vintage seam binding.
