Thinking of you, brother

Hello -

The other day when I made the purple background for my butterfly card I was really in the mood to play with inks. So I whipped up a bunch of different backgrounds using a variety of techniques. I now have a little pile of very colorful background papers to use on projects.

I used one of these papers to create this Thinking of You card.

For this background I started by stamping the gear image from Mini Blueprints 3 in Jet Black Archival ink on specialty stamping paper from Ranger. The ink doesn’t immediately dry on this paper so I hit it with a blast from a heat tool. I used liquid masking fluid to cover the parts of the image that I didn’t want to be colored. Once the mask dried, I sprayed the piece of cardstock with Postbox Red and Fresh Lime Dylusions Ink Sprays. Since I’m impatient I dried the ink using the heat tool again. For a final touch I splashed some Barn Door Distress Paint here and there.

After letting the paint and ink dry, I removed the mask. To embellish I rounded some corners and matted on black cardstock; stitched white twill ribbon; added a sentiment flag and chit chat word; and finished with some enamel dots and a clip.

Any questions just let me know!
