CC3C: Faux Tea Rose Technique

Hey peeps -

I decided to play along with another Compendium of Curiosities 3 challenge and make some flowers using the Faux Tea Rose Technique. These are so pretty… maybe I should make these more often instead of buying premade flowers. :D

There is a fabulous prize this week, a $50 gift certificate to the Inspiration Emporium online store. Awesome sauce. So head over to the Linda’s blog for all of the details and to see some ah-mazing artwork.

I made three of the flowers using some pretty purple cardstock. I also die cut some foliage from green cardstock and chipboard. The chipboard pieces were painted with Peeled Paint Distress Paint and then coated with Glossy Accents and dusted with Rock Candy Distress Stickles Glitter.

For the tag I started with a regular manila tag and painted it with Dina Wakley Turquoise Acrylic Paint. Once dry I sponged some Peacock Feathers Distress Ink here and there using the Tim Holtz Burlap Stencil. I stamped a sentiment from CMS155 Simple Sayings multiple times using Coffee Archival Ink. I then attached the flowers and foliage using Glossy Accents.

I thought the tag good use a bit more texture so I added a bit of Film Strip Ribbon using the Tiny Attacher. I then took a Butterfly Adornments that I grunged up with a bit of Lime and Turquoise Acrylic Paints. I toned down the brightness by sponging with Distress Ink once the paint was dry. The final touch was spritzing here and there using a Mowed Lawn Distress Marker and the Tim Holtz Spritzer.

Finished the tag with a bit of purple seam binding and attached to a goodie bag using a colorful clothespin. Hope you enjoyed this little project!
