Hey peeps – time for another crazy challenge and this week with the seasons changing to fall in the Northern Hemisphere I thought it would be the perfect time to pay tribute to the brightly colored leaves of Autumn. It is a simple challenge, you just need to incorporate a leaf or leaves into your project.
To start my project I wanted to create some colorful little leaves so I pulled out some Alcohol Inks, including a few colors I just received, glossy cardstock, and Blending Solution. I dropped a few drops of each color on a non-stick craft sheet, spritzed with Blending Solution and then wiped the glossy cardstock in it. This created a soft muted blending of colors. I wanted the color to be a bit stronger in places so I applied some Red Pepper, Rust, Sunset Orange, and Pesto alcohol inks to a piece of blending felt, added a smidge of Blending Solution, and pounced it here and there on the glossy cardstock. Perfect!
Next I used the Autumn Gatherings Decorative Strip die to cut out some leaves from the cardstock. I picked out a few of my favorites and sponged the edges with Walnut Stain Distress Ink. Attached foam dimensionals to the backs and they were ready to add to the card.
For the card front I stamped the woodgrain image from CMS126 Wallpaper and Wood in Antique Linen Distress Ink on ivory cardstock. Trimmed to size and rounded the top corners. Along the bottom I added some tissue tape and a bit of jute. At this point I added the leaves and picked out a sentiment. Yeah, that is how I roll sometimes. The “grateful” is from the Blossoming Buds stamp set from Paper Smooches. Finished the card with a few enamel dots and attached the card front to an ivory card base.
I must admit that not only do I love the colors of the changing leaves I also love the crispy crunch noise they make when you step on them. I’ll even go out of my way to tromp on one that looks especially crunchy. ;) If you haven’t figured it out yet, I LOVE fall. It is my favorite season. Caramel apples, crunchy leaves, long sleeved shirts. Love them all. And even if you are not a fan of the season, or if you are, I’m sure you will be delighted to see what the rest of the team created this week.
