Hello Crafty Friends -
How is your month going? Crazy busy prepping for the holidays? I’m almost caught up so I can spend some of my free time on the extras, such as tags that match the gift wrap that I bought. :) So far I’ve created four unique tags and I thought I would share them over the next few days. There may be more and hopefully you won’t be bored by the color scheme by the end.
The first tag features fun embellishments and die cutting. There is no stamping… but I don’t think you will miss it on this tag.
I started by die cutting the caroler from black mat board. However it wasn’t a deep enough black so I added a couple of coats of Black Soot Distress Paint. Once dry I added Glossy Accents here and there and covered with Black Soot Distress Glitter.
For the next layer I cut an oval from Kraft Resist paper and then sponged it with Festive Berries Distress Ink. I added a bit more depth by sponging the edges with Aged Mahogany Distress Ink.
For the base layer I cut a piece of cardboard to size and then peeled off the top layer of paper to reveal the ridges. I dabbed it here and there with Picket Fence Distress Paint. I coated some areas multiple times. This layer was stitched to a manilla tag.
Lots of texture was added with the embellishments. First I added a Christmas Word Band, I added a bit of Picket Fence to fill the letters (dab on, let dray a bit, and then wipe off excess). The word band was tied in place with some burlap jute from May Arts.
Next I painted a couple of Alpha Parts with Mowed Lawn Distress Paint. Let dry for a bit and then used a paper towel to wipe off a bit of the paint. Once dry the numbers were coated with Glossy Accents.
Finally I finished the tag with a bit of red baker’s twine.
