Best day evah!

Hello -

I’m sneaking in late tonight to share a card with an image I colored a few weeks ago. It has been sitting in a pile with a few other images and I finally had the crafty urge to turn it into a card. BestDayEvahFairy_A_DanielleLounds

The image is Patches the Fairy digi stamp from Saturated Canary that I added to my collection a while back. I colored her with Copic markers and Copic Spica Pens and added Diamond Stickles to her wings. The sentiment is from the Slang Gang set by Paper Smooches – I do so love a good sentiment set!

I threw together some fun embellishments to add detail but kept the rest of the layout simple since the image was so big.

That’s it from me tonight – have a good one!

A bit of fun news

Hello – Just a quick note to let you know about something I’ve been working on with a handful of my crafty friends. We have started a new challenge blog: Naughty or Nice Challenges and today is the debut. We’ll be posting our first challenge on February 1st and would love for you to join us.

And you have to let me know what you think of the graphics. I got busy with pen and paper and Adobe Illustrator to create them. :D

Dino Party Time

Hello -

My crafty mojo seems to be making a comeback. Although this card did give me a couple of fits. I knew I wanted to use the Tim Holtz – Stars stencil on the main panel. But how? First I tried dabbing Evergreen Bough Distress Paint on white cardstock but it ended up everywhere and just looked messy. Next, I tried using Confetti White Perfect Pearls on white cardstock but you couldn’t tell where the stars started and ended. Fail! Then I had the bright idea to switch to ivory cardstock and to use White Linen Dylusions Ink Spray. Yes! Very subtle but you can tell that the shapes are stars. Winner!

For the layout, I was inspired by this week’s Retro Sketch: #99. The dino image is from Party Posse (Paper Smooches) and was colored with Copic markers and embellished with just a touch of Clear Rock Candy Distress Glitter and Glossy Accents. The designer paper is from the Happy Go Lucky paper pad (Fancy Pants) – I find the color palette used in this line delightful so you may be seeing it a lot on my blog.

For a final touch I used a few rhinestones and some burlap string. As usual, most of the layers were adhered together using foam dimensionals.

Heart Love

Are you ready to see something unusual. Well, at least unusual on this blog. ;) I made a card and didn’t use a single stamp. Oh-em-gee! Instead the card features die cut hearts, a watercolor background, and a sentiment made from stickers.

To create the background I started with watercolor paper that was misted with water and then used a paintbrush and Distress Ink Reinkers (Evergreen Bough and Peacock Feathers) diluted with just a bit of water to apply color to the paper. I ended up with some drops of color on my craft mat, so after drying the paper I then smashed it into the leftovers on the craft mat to make the smaller splotches.

The hearts were die-cut from Happy Go Lucky designer paper using the Mini Hearts Movers & Shapers die. I stitched them in place using my sewing machine and then ‘fluffed’ the edges so that they had some volume. To finish I added Glossy Accents to the edges and then dusted with Clear Rocky Candy Distress Stickles.

The final touch was adding a couple of Seasonal Chit Chat stickers, popped in place using foam dimensional tape. I rounded the corners and adhered the panel to a card base with more foam dimensional tape. Yeah, I use a lot of this tape.

So, I just love how this card turned out. What do you think?

You rock!

Hey blog friends -

Checking in with a sweet as sugar card tonight. This one is a bit punny and features a rocking horse and “you rock” sentiment from the Pa-Rum-Pa-Pum-Pum stamp set (Lawn Fawn).

The card was very quick to assemble (especially since I used this week’s Retro Sketch: #98). I spent the most time coloring the rocking horse image and then trimming. Instead of using Copics I used Distress Markers and watercolored. I must say that I’m not loving the water brushes… they always produce too much water and I have to save the image from drowning. Could be user error… not sure… I think I will switch back to an old fashioned paint brush. LOL.

For a final touch I added Diamond Stickles to the horse’s mane and tail. Neigghhhhhhh!
