Best Day Ever

Hello. Switched gears a bit for this project and paired orange with yellow instead of aqua. Thought I would give you a break from that color combo. lol.

BestDayEverTag_A_DanielleLounds

First off, I played along with this week’s Retro Sketches Challenge: #103. It’s a tag layout; I couldn’t resist.

Next – I was curious about how Distress Paint and Ultra Thick Embossing Powder would work together. What I discovered – it does turn out quite neat but you must work quickly. If you don’t the Distress Paint will be a bit too dry and the embossing powder won’t stick.

1 – Gather your supplies and do some prep work. Use tissue tape or removable tape to fasten the tag and the stencil to a work surface. Get the paint ready for dabbing – I put a little onto a paper bowl and had a clean foam applicator within reach.

2. Dab on paint – I used Mustard Seed and Wild Honey. Work quickly. Once done dabbing remove the tissue tape and stencil.

3. Coat with Ultra Thick Embossing Powder and pour off excess.

4. Heat set and enjoy the results. Ohhh… ahhhh… pretty.

Once I was done ogling the background I pulled out some supplies and decorated the tag. The sentiment is from a new Paper Smooches set: Captured Memories. I added a few Chit Chat words as well. Stars, mini clips, black seam binding, and pom pom trim for embellishment.

C4C224: Enjoy the journey

Hello!

Time for another challenge from Crazy 4 Challenges: #224. The theme: be inspired by music. Would you believe that I just discovered the Pandora music service this last month? Yup. And now I’ve added the app to my phone, set it up on my TV through a blu ray player, and I’m trying to figure out how to set it up in my car. New tunes everywhere! ;)

As far as my card goes, I used a bit of music themed designer paper. I did kick it up a bit by stenciling some Distress Paint in a couple of colors along the one side.

The main sentiment was added via a Tim Holtz Word Band. I used a bit of Antique Linen Distress Paint to add color to the word impressions.

For a pop of color I added a bright orange butterfly. The image is from the Lawn Fawn – Flutter By stamp set and was colored with Copic markers. I coated the wings with some Glossy Accents for shine. For embellishments, I added some rhinestones here and there, a couple of mini clips, and some tan seam binding.

World of reality

Hello -

I call this card “when the sun meets the sea.” Just love pairing orange with aqua. Which is kind of weird because when I was younger these were my two least favorite colors. Amazing how taste can change.

Are you curious about that background?

I used Spiced Marmalade and Peacock Feathers Reinkers (Ranger) diluted with just a bit of water as the paint. Before brushing on the color I spritzed the watercolor paper with just a small amount of water. While still very wet I sprinkled a bit of sea salt here and there. Once dry, I rubbed off the salt and stamped the sentiment in Archival Jet Black ink.

C4C223: A little slow…

Hello… In comparison to the last card I posted, this one has a lot less pink and hearts, but still shows my love for glitter!

C4C223_SlowTurtleBirthday_A_DanielleLounds

I made this card for this week’s new Crazy 4 Challenges: C4C223, which is a sketch. Fun!

The turtle and sentiments are from the A Little Slow set by Taylored Expressions. I colored with Copic markers and cutout. Finished the image with some Stickles and Glossy Accents. Glitter makes me happy.

I dug through my embellishments and pulled out some oldie but goodies: stick pins, wood button, and printed twill ribbon.

P.S. The inside of the card was stamped with the coordinating sentiment: “I’m a little slooowwww!”. I just didn’t take a picture. Lazy!
