For my project I decided to alter a paper mache star box. I can always use a special gift box to hold a special gift.

JulyStarBox_A_DanielleLounds

I went for a bright and cute look! Here is a bit of the process for making this cute box:

  • I started with a paper mache star box and painted the top green and the bottom teal.
  • There is an insert in the lid that you can remove, so I did so and covered it with designer paper.
  • Once the paint was dry I added dots of Lime Liquid Pearls (Ranger) along the outside edge of the lid.
  • I then die cut a couple of clouds and a sun (Lawn Fawn). I actually cut two sets and then layered them together so that the embellishments would be sturdy.
  • I coated the clouds with Glossy Accents and sprinkled with Clear Rocky Candy Fine Glitter (Ranger).

  • I stamped a little goat from Totes Ma Goats on Choice Snow White cardstock, colored with Copic markers and cut out.
  • Stamped the matching sentiment on green cardstock and trimmed to size.
  • Die cut a stitched circle (MFT) from kraft cardstock.
  • Assembly: once the clouds were dry I began adhering all the pieces to the box top using foam dimensional tapes and liquid adhesive.
  • Added in a few sequins and a bit of olive burlap ribbon (May Arts for a final touch).

Stamps and sentiments are from the Totes Ma Goats set which you can find in the shop HERE.

Good Times

Hello crafty friends -

How about a card with a lot of texture?

CorkAndGoodTimes_A_DanielleLounds

Here are a few notes about the card:

  1. Stamped an image from Damask Designs in Memento Luxe inch on cork. Once dry I trimmed to size and matted on Black Soot cardstock.
  2. I painted an Alpa Part – Framed with Distress Paints. Drying each color of paint dray a bit before wiping off the excess paint and exposing the black plastic. I heated the plastic a bit too much so it warped… but I like that look so all was well.
  3. Stamped an image from Mini Blueprints 6 on water color paper and cut out with a circle die. I then spritzed the image with a Distress Marker for a touch of color.
  4. Embellished with a bit of designer paper, sequins, and jute string for yet more texture.

Speaking of good times I made a little trip to Tahquamenon Falls yesterday. Very picturesque (although a tad chilly). This is a shot of the upper falls which I also posted to my Instagram account. I throw a random picture up there every once in a while.

SPDSS08: Thanks a Bushel

Hello crafty friends -

Popping in today with a card for this week’s sketch challenge at SugarPea Designs. I made a sunny little thank you card and speaking of sun I’m hoping for some nice weather tomorrow.

Here is the sketch(I did add a few additional elements with the die cuts) :

I colored the sweet girl with Copic markers and cut out. I stamped and colored the flowers separately and also cut them out. Once done trimming and assembling the card I added some Diamond Stickles to the flower centers.

You Blow Me Away

Hello!

I have to admit that I am completely in love with this little dragon from the Blow Me Away (SugarPea Designs) stamp set. I could color him/her in a rainbow of different colors and not be bored. But I’ll try to restrain myself from posting a dragon card every day… that might be too much.

BlowMeAwayDragon_A_DanielleLounds

I based the layout of my card on Deconstructed Sketch #160. If I made this card over again I’d skip the little hexagon die cuts… they aren’t thrilling me. ;) I stamped the dragon two times and cut out the second image after coloring and adhered over the first with dimensional tape. Added some texture by adding Glossy Accents and using a Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Pen.

Here is a look at the full set and you can find it in the store HERE.

Hope you enjoyed this little fella. You will probably see him on my blog again… but not right away. Open-mouthed smile

C4C246: Make Beautiful Things

Hello friends -

It is Saturday which means it is time for another crazy challenge. This week Frances is challenge us to make a card with more than one fold. I made one with TWO folds. Such an overachiever… not! You can find all the details on the challenge and see more fabulous samples at the Crazy 4 Challenges Blog.

C4C246BeautifulThings_A_DanielleLounds

For my take on the challenge I made a simple easel card. Easy peasy. I diecut a background from designer paper using a Scallop Square Die (Spellbinders) and stamped a sentiment from A Life She Loved (Taylored Expressions) in Rhubarb Stalk Memento Luxe ink. I used an image from the same set and colored it with Copic markers and then trimmed with scissors. I adhered it to the card with foam tape. Added a few enamel dots, small piece of grosgrain ribbon and a bit more designer paper along the card inside.

Hope you enjoyed my project today. Have a great weekend!

Thanks so much

Hello friends - Been a busy week for me and I am so behind on posting some projects that I have completed. But it has been ‘good’ busy with some fun illustrating work. Can’t share that yet. ;)

However I can share this clean and simple card that I made last weekend.

ThanksWithCircles_A_DanielleLounds

I’ve been wanting to create a stacked die cut sentiment for a while and I finally but my hands on a die that would be perfect for it: Scripty Thanks from Lawn Fawn. I die cut the top layer from a piece of designer paper (Amy Tan Plus One – American Crafts) and then die cut five more layers from thick white cardstock. I adhered all of the layers together using Glossy Accents and for a final touch I adding a coating of it to the top.

Behind the thanks are a couple of circles cut from a large manila tag that I embossed and painted. How? First I used an image from Mixed Media (Stampers Anonymous) and heat embossed the entire tag with white embossing powder. I then swiped a Wild Honey Distress Paint across the surface and let dry for a bit. I used a paper towel to wipe off the excess paint and expose the embossing a bit more. I repeated this paint technique with Spiced Marmalade Distress Paint.

Once dry, I cut out a couple of circles using the Stitched Circles Dienamics from MFT.

Covered the card base with coordinating designer paper and added a mat from white cardstock. Finished by adhering the pieces together using foam tape and liquid glue and embellished with enamel dots and label letters.

ThanksWithCircles_C_DanielleLounds

What do you think? Fun, right? I used another one of these circles on another project that I will have to share with you another day.

SPD07: Tanks for everything

Hello sweets!

I hope you are in the mood for white because my card today has white on white on white! I really wanted to showcase the image from Don’t Be Koi (SugarPea Designs), so I kept the rest of the card as neutral as possible. Just a few sequins and enamel dots and a bit of embossing using a Layering Stencil (Stampers Anonymous) and white embossing paste.

I paired the sweet image with a punny sentiment for the new SugarPea Designs challenge: You’re So Punny.

  • Play along with any stamp you like - but if you use SugarPea Designs, we'll top your voucher up to $15!
  • Combine our challenge with any other challenge(s)!
  • Upload to your blog or other online gallery using keyword: SPD07 so that we may check out your beautiful work
  • Add your link to the linkup on the SugarPea Blog. You'll find our current challenges on the sidebar.
Finally, a little close up of the image. It was colored with Copic Markers and then I coated the goldfish with a Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Pen.

C4C245: You are capable of…

Hello Crafty Friends -

It is the third Saturday of the month which means it is time for another sketch challenge at Crazy 4 Challenges. You can find all the details of the challenge and more samples there.

C4C245_WonderfulThings_A_DanielleLounds

Here is the sketch that my card is based. I only made a few small tweaks to it. Instead of the little banner in front of the main panel I added a flower and twine. I also overlapped the two horizontal strips and offset the enamel dots a bit. I think the sketch is still recognizable though!

C4C245-Sketch

I stamped a sentiment from Chalkboard Greetings Too (MFT) in VersaMark and embossed with Rose Antiquities Embossing Powder (Ranger). Because the embossing powder doesn’t contrast much from the Kraft it was a pain to take a picture so that you can see the words clearly. It is much easier to read in person. I then die cut the panel using Stitched Circle Dies (MFT).

C4C245_WonderfulThings_B_DanielleLounds

This is one of those cards that took a bit of trial and error before I was happy with the look. I originally used ribbon instead of the corrugated cardstock but didn’t like it so I tried another ribbon which I also didn’t like. But the third choice was the charm. Once I had the corrugated strips and the main panel decided the rest of the card was pretty easy. I just had to pick a contrasting color to tone down the pink a bit.

Thanks for stopping by! Hope you have a great weekend!
