C4C251: A Hearty Thanks

Hello – I’m back with another post. I had a lot to share this month and next month is looking just as busy. :)

I missed out on playing along with the ladies at Crazy 4 Challenges last week. Had a bit of last minute illustrating work to do. But I’m back this week to join in the challenge to make a project using the provided inspiration piece. Here is my take:

C4C251_HeartyThanks_A_DanielleLounds

And here is a look at the inspiration piece. I was inspired by the soft colors and the distressed container in the photo. You can find all of the details on the challenge and more inspiration on the Crazy 4 Challenges Blog.

I used the Woodgrain Backdrops set from Lawn Fawn for the background, hearts, and sentiment. First I colored some watercolor paper with Sakura Koi Watercolors and once dry I stamped the hearts, creating 2 of each color. I then cut them out using a pair of scissors. Next I stamped the woodgrain background in Soft Granite Ink (Hero Arts) on Taffy cardstock (Bazzill Card Shoppe). Trimmed to size, round the corners and adhered to a white card base using foam tape. It was a bit too strong in color, so I dry brushed white acrylic paint here and there. The hearts were adhered in place with foam dimensionals. I used two foam dots on some of the hearts so that they are even higher than the others. To bring it all together I mixed more of the white paint with a bit of water and spattered here and there. For a final touch a handful of white sequins were added.

Hope you enjoyed my take on the challenge this week!

Quilted Hello

Hello fellow crafters -

I have a no-stamping card to share with you tonight. Instead of stamps I used a bunch of dies to make this sewing themed card.

DTGD14_HexagonsAndHellos_A_DanielleLounds

A few details: I created a background by piecing together a bunch of hexagons and then die cutting with a circle die. I stitched this piece onto a piece of die cut black cardstock. For the main sentiment I die cut a "hello" from cardstock four times and adhered them all together into a stack. Once dry I attached to the card front and finished with a thick coating of Glossy Accents. But before that I embellished the hexagon panel with jute, twill ribbon and a few sequins.

I’ve got an idea

Hello crafty friends -

I have a fun set of tags to share with you today. They feature the recently released Smarty Pants stamp set from Taylored Expressions (one of the sets I illustrated).

SmartyPantsTagSet_A_DanielleLounds

Each tag features a different critter from the set. The critters were stamped in black and colored with Copic markers before cutting out. I also stamped the light bulb image four times, colored and cut them out. The light bulb was also stamped on the designer paper before adhering the cut out ones in place. Added Glossy Accents to there glasses for another fun touch.

SmartyPantsTagSet_B_DanielleLounds

Cut out some blooms from cardstock using the Bloomin’ Stacklets 2 and then stamped a sentiment on each one. Assembled the pieces using a lot of foam tape, added designer paper, jute and embellishments.

Here are close ups of all four tags (first is the fox):

Leave a little blog love for the team and one lucky commenter will WIN a $15 Gift Certificate to the SPD Boutique.

For my project I decided to create a small mini book of to do lists… or rather “to tackle lists”.

TackleAnythingToDoListBook_A_DanielleLounds

To start I cut some chipboard 5.5” tall and about 6” wide. I used a Sizzix On the Edge die to add the scallops. I then finished trimming the covers to the same size. Next I covered each cover with designer paper and sanded off the excess, used some small files to get into the nooks and crannies.

TackleAnythingToDoListBook_B_DanielleLounds

To decorate the cover I used the Great Catch stamp set and embellished with some enamel dots, a bit of designer paper, washi tape, and a flair badge.

TackleAnythingToDoListBook_C_DanielleLounds

On to the inside… I designed some “To tackle list” pages in Adobe Illustrator and printed them (4 per page). I cut them down to 5.25” tall by 4.25” wide. Once all of the pages were trimmed I punched the cover and pages with the Bind-it-All and assembled with 1” brown o-rings. Added a pad of Post-its to the inside cover and attached a flag clip to be used to mark the current page.

CC3C9: Winter Wonderland

Hello crafters -

I’m playing along with the latest Compendium of Curiousities 3 Challenge… and it’s not a last minute project. The challenge this time is to use Sizzix Alterations Framelits (page 63 of the book). You can check out all the details of the challenge HERE and I just want to mention that Inspiration Emporium is sponsoring the challenge with a fabulous prize.

CC3C9_WinterWonderlandCanvas_A_DanielleLounds

I used the Snowman Blueprint Stamp and Framelits set to build up a wintery scene. I used another cloud diecut to create the sponged sky in the background. Along the bottom I spread some Translucent Embossing Paste and then sprinkled it with Rock Candy Distress Stickles Glitter. To color the snowman I used Sakura Koi Watercolors.

CC3C9_WinterWonderlandCanvas_B_DanielleLounds

Once my scene was created I changed my mind from creating a card to decorating a Burlap Panel. First I covered the panel with gel medium and added some tissue paper. Once dry I used a paintbrush to apply Dina Wakley Ruby Media Paint. I also applied some white paint to a wordband and removed the excess with a paper towel.

I finished with some Remnant Rubs and a few white sequins.

Decide what to be

Hello crafters – Only one more work day left in the week and I’m excited for it to be the weekend. I have a to do list I should tackle but I might procrastinate a bit and spend some time in the craft room. I have some new stamps that just need to be inked. How about you? Any fun plans for the weekend or do you have a new favorite product you just can’t wait to use? Recently I added the Sakura Koi Watercolors to my collection and used them to create the watercolored background on this card:

DTGD14_DecideToBe_A_DanielleLounds

Some details on the card: Stamped the arrow border from Doodled Borders (Taylored Expressions) in Versamark on watercolor paper and heat set with white embossing powder. Repeated until the piece was completely filled with arrows. Then used Sakura Koi watercolors to add a rainbow of color. Once dry I layered on black cardstock.

DTGD14_DecideToBe_BCloseup_DanielleLounds

Stamped a sentiment in black on vellum and wrapped it around the main panel. Finished with a few glittery enamel dots and some baker's twine.

DTGD14_DecideToBe_CCloseup_DanielleLounds

And that is it for me tonight! I’ll check back in tomorrow with another work to inspire you!

For my card I used the Twinkle Twinkle Stamp Set and paired it with Life Emporium designer paper from Teresa Collins. I went with very soft tones as I colored the scene with Copic markers, leaving a lot of white space. For embellishment I used Peach Fizz Vintage Seam Binding and some pretty sequins (flowers and large pink ones from Teresa Collins).
