For my project I cut out some little boxes I designed using the Silhouette Cameo. I turned the opening in the front into a little shaker box lined with designer paper.

Each shaker was filled with a variety of sequins: holographic black, white satin, gold stars, and silver.

To embellish I colored some pumpkins from the Bountiful Blessings stamp set, colored with Copic markers and cut out. Added another strip of designer paper and a few enamel dots for embellishment. Cute and fun… perfect for holding some yummy candy.

Holiday Penguin and Creative Hop

Hello, crafty friends.

Been a super busy day on my blog already but I wanted to share yet one more project. This one is a redo… I really didn’t like the original tag so I scrapped it and started over. Sometimes you just have to do that. ;) And it was worth the effort as I just love the clean feel and sharp contrast between the colors. I did save the penguin from the first tag and the little embossed star.

Super cute, right? Any questions, just let me know!

Crafty Hop!!!

In other news, the amazingly talented Tracy Valure nominated me for the Crafty Hop! Wow! What an honor! I love the idea of this hop because it can just keep going, introducing us to bloggers we may never have met otherwise. So how does it work? I answer a few questions and then nominate a few other bloggers to take part in the hop. So here goes:

What am I working on now? At the moment I feel like a ping pong ball that is flying every which way. I have some small Halloween/Fall d├ęcor projects I want to work on, Christmas tags that I’m designing for a crafty day with some local friends, normal design work, and I just finished up some illustrations for Valentine’s Day for Taylored Expressions. Like I said, all over the place! I just hope I have time to do it all!

How does my work differ from others in the same genre? Hmm… probably one of the ways that I differ is that I’m always messing with something new. Whether it is using a new coloring medium, practicing a technique, or playing with a new embellishment. It doesn’t always turn out but it is fun! And I love texture and foam dimensionals. At the very least I will use Glossy Accents on a project.

Why do I create what I do? Because it is fun! I work as a software engineer during the day so it is a nice change of pace to do something completely different in my free time.

How does my create process work? 80% of the time it goes something like this: I start with a stamp set, or in the case of a 3-D project the item I want to decorate. From there I pick my color scheme – designer paper is a great way to kick start this. Once I have my images and colors I pick a general layout. I might start with a sketch but usually I just wing it based on the images I want to use. Once the images, colors, and layout are decided I usually start to throw on embellishments and pick a sentiment. The rest of the time I’m usually playing along with a challenge so it kick starts the process.

Who am I nominating?

Torico – Stampardise: I love her crafty style, such a great eye for layouts and color. I’m also a huge fan of her illustrations. If you follow her on Instagram she has been posting the cutest little quick doodles.

Tobi Crawford – Tobi’s Place: fantastic card maker and mixed media artist: she always has something colorful and fun to inspire.

Wanda Guess – A Blog Called Wanda: Bright. Cheery. Beautiful. That is what I think when I look at her amazing cards.

Hopefully these talented ladies will be able to play along next week. But even if they don’t, still stop by and check out their inspiring blogs.  :)

After coloring the image I added a bit of Glossy Accents to the apple. Kept to the layout, using a bunch of Happy Go Lucky designer paper from Fancy Pants. Added a couple of embellishments: flair button and enamel dots.

Carried Away Tags

I wanted to share another project I made this month using the new stamps I illustrated for Taylored Expressions. This time I made a couple of tags featuring a cute accessory image from the Mischief Maker Carried Away mini set.

CarriedAwayTags_A_DanielleLounds

I stamped the little puppy and balloons in VersaMark on watercolor paper and heat embossed with black embossing powder. Next I die cut the image and then water colored with Sakura Koi Water Colors. I finished by adding a bit of shimmer to the balloons with a Clear Wink of Stella Brush Pen. Easy peasy.

The rest of the tag was super simple, just a bit of designer paper cut to size, a large crystal star, a jumbo eyelet, and a bit of twine.

CarriedAwayTags_B_DanielleLounds

Hope you enjoyed these little tags… sneak peeks for the October Release start tomorrow. Hmm… on that note I really need to spend some quality time in my craft room.

C4C255: Grateful

Hey peeps – time for another crazy challenge and this week with the seasons changing to fall in the Northern Hemisphere I thought it would be the perfect time to pay tribute to the brightly colored leaves of Autumn. It is a simple challenge, you just need to incorporate a leaf or leaves into your project.

GratefulLeaves_A_DanielleLounds

To start my project I wanted to create some colorful little leaves so I pulled out some Alcohol Inks, including a few colors I just received, glossy cardstock, and Blending Solution. I dropped a few drops of each color on a non-stick craft sheet, spritzed with Blending Solution and then wiped the glossy cardstock in it. This created a soft muted blending of colors. I wanted the color to be a bit stronger in places so I applied some Red Pepper, Rust, Sunset Orange, and Pesto alcohol inks to a piece of blending felt, added a smidge of Blending Solution, and pounced it here and there on the glossy cardstock. Perfect!

Next I used the Autumn Gatherings Decorative Strip die to cut out some leaves from the cardstock. I picked out a few of my favorites and sponged the edges with Walnut Stain Distress Ink. Attached foam dimensionals to the backs and they were ready to add to the card.

For the card front I stamped the woodgrain image from CMS126 Wallpaper and Wood in Antique Linen Distress Ink on ivory cardstock. Trimmed to size and rounded the top corners. Along the bottom I added some tissue tape and a bit of jute. At this point I added the leaves and picked out a sentiment. Yeah, that is how I roll sometimes. The “grateful” is from the Blossoming Buds stamp set from Paper Smooches. Finished the card with a few enamel dots and attached the card front to an ivory card base.

GratefulLeaves_B_DanielleLounds

I must admit that not only do I love the colors of the changing leaves I also love the crispy crunch noise they make when you step on them. I’ll even go out of my way to tromp on one that looks especially crunchy. ;) If you haven’t figured it out yet, I LOVE fall. It is my favorite season. Caramel apples, crunchy leaves, long sleeved shirts. Love them all. And even if you are not a fan of the season, or if you are, I’m sure you will be delighted to see what the rest of the team created this week. You can see their samples and more details on the challenge over at the Crazy 4 Challenges Blog.
