Hey peeps! I have a last minute little love project for today – just in time to celebrate the day! It is also my take on this week’s challenge from Crazy 4 Challenges to create a valentine and for bonus points include purple/amethyst. You can find all of the details on the challenge and more fabulous samples HERE.
For my card I pulled out one of the sets I recently illustrated for Taylored Expressions: Tag-a-long – Valentine. I also used a couple of dies from the Build a Tag 2 set that was released at the same time.
I skipped the designer paper this time and used some great Tim Holtz products from Ranger to create a custom background. Here are the steps:
1. Cut water color paper to size.
2. Flick paper with Dusty Concord Distress Spray Stain and dry with heat tool. Flick technique I use: unscrew the top from the spray bottle and then *flick* the plastic intake thing-a-mob to splatter ink here and there. This is messy – you may need to drape yourself and everything in sight with a drop cloth. ;)
3. Use the Tim Holtz Hearts Layering Stencil and apply Texture Paste to the background. Let dry – I used a heat tool to speed up the process.
4. Add more color by water coloring the stenciled hearts using Sakura Koi watercolors. Distress markers would also work – my water colors were sitting right there on the desk so were convenient. Let dry – again the heat tool is great for those of us who lack patience.
Now that the background is done just needed to stamp, color, and cut out the rest of the pieces. I embellished with a few silver sequins and a bit of ivory jute.
Thanks for stopping by! I’d be delighted to hear what you think of this purple cutie.
Also, if you are shopping at the Inspiration Emporium you can use coupon code fatcatstamper for 10% off your order. Pictured below are links to some of the products I used to create this card. This particular stamp and die are not in the store, but they did just add some other cute new products from Taylored Expressions.
