TE Sneak Peeks: Balloon Buddies

Hello, Crafty Friends -

There is a lot of fun in store for this week and it begins with sneak peeks for the latest release from Taylored Expressions. This release has a ton of happy, lots of celebrating, and just a bit of grumpy. Today I’m kicking off the celebrating with a couple of projects using the new Balloon Buddies stamp set and coordinating dies.

BalloonBuddiesSample_A_DanielleLounds

I had plenty of fun illustrating these critters and I must admit to being extra fond of the monkey. Such big ears. Lol. I used the elephant image to decorate the card.

For the card and tag I stamped and colored two of each image. The first images I cut out with the coordinating dies and from the second images I cut out portions of the image that could be layered over the first for extra dimension.

BalloonBuddiesSample_B_DanielleLounds

I also used some previously released dies to cut various tag elements: Build a Tag 4 and Gridlocked. I used a 1 3/8” circle punch to cut out the sentiment. For a bit of shine I backed the Gridlocked die cuts with acetate.

BalloonBuddiesSample_C_DanielleLounds

And those sequins? They are from the Taylored Expressions Build a Scene Halloween sequin mix. I also applied a bit of Glossy Accents to the monkey’s balloon. Shiny!

So what do you think? I’d be delighted to read any comments you have.

Four merry trees

Hello! I hope your week has been going well. I have the week off from work which means plenty of time to relax, visit family, and do a bit of crafting/artwork. The weather is a bit on the chilly side (put away the capris and break out the sweaters) so the following card is perfect for today:

MerryAndBrightTrees_A_DanielleLounds

No, I am not ready for winter! But I do love the tree images in the CMS249 Scribbly Christmas set and couldn’t wait to ink them up again. This card didn’t take as long as my usual cards since there was no coloring involved but with the addition of the designer paper and the enamel dots it has enough color for me.

Thank you blooms

Hello. Every once in a while you just need a pretty thank you card. So, for my second project for the Inspiration Emporium I used the CMS215 Flower Garden stamp set to stamp a couple of pretty blooms. I used Kuretake Zig Clean Color Brush markers to color the flowers… the first of which did not turn out well so I buried them in the bottom of my garbage bin. lol. I used my two favorites, highlighted with a Wink of Stella Clear Glitter brush, on this card:

WatercolorFlowers_A_DanielleLounds

My favorite sentiment set at the moment is CMS236 Crazy Talk so I used a “thank you” sentiment from it. Since I wanted the blooms to be front and center I kept the layers to a minimum and only added a bit of burlap ribbon and a few glittery enamel dots.

C4C300: Ride the wind

Hello crafty friends -

Today is the 300th challenge for Crazy 4 Challenges and since August 23rd is Ride the Wind Day, for our challenge this week create a card that features something that relies on the wind. For my card I used the older Taylored Expressions set, In the Clouds, and coordinating dies to create a fun sky scene with plenty of clouds and a big ol’ blimp.

FlyingByBlimp_A_DanielleLounds

I created plenty of clouds using the Build a Scene – Rolling Clouds dies and the Cloud Duo die set (also from Taylored Expressions). The blimp was colored with Copic markers and a bit of glitter was added with a Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush pen. The windows were also coated with Glossy Accents.

I added just a bit of skinny washi tape and a few sequins for embellishment.

Peeking in on you… but in a good way. ;)

Hello crafty friends! How about a clean and simple card tonight? Although I did have to add a bit of technique. Instead of a die cut circle on this card I stenciled the card base itself.

StenciledZigZagKitty_A_DanielleLounds

Of course I did use one of my circle dies to create the opening to stencil through. I thought I would walk you through the process using a few pictures.

To start I die cut a piece of cardstock with a circle die to create a frame which I tacked to the white card base using a couple pieces of washi tape.

StenciledZigZagKitty_Step1_DanielleLounds

I then taped a stencil in place and used a sponge dauber to apply Wild Honey Distress Ink to the card base through the openings.

StenciledZigZagKitty_Step2_DanielleLounds

To finish I removed the zig zag stencil and then softened the lines by lightly sponging more of the Wild Honey Distress Ink over the entire opening in the frame.

StenciledZigZagKitty_Step3_DanielleLounds

And it is done! Of course, if you are not a fan of stenciling or do not have any stencils you could achieve the same overall look by using a piece of designer paper.

To decorate the card base I stamped a sentiment on a piece of light green cardstock, trimmed to size and adhered directly to the card base. I stamped the kitten from Peeking In (Taylored Expressions) on white cardstock, colored with Copic markers, and then cut out with the coordinating dies. I added a bit of Glossy Accents to the tiny little bird and heart. I also dusted the heart with a bit of clear glitter. For a final touch I added enamel dots.

C4C299: Abra-ca I don’t care

Hello crafty friends -

It is Saturday which means it is time for another challenge from Crazy4Challenges. I’m still lovin’ on the latest Taylored Expressions release so I used some of the new items on my card today. In particular, I used the fairy cat from Grumplings in Costume and made a card that could be used for Halloween or just for fun.

C4C299_AbracDontCare_A_DanielleLounds

I based my card on this week’s sketch challenge. You can find all of the details on the challenge and more samples from the design team HERE. I did tweak the sketch a bit so that I could make a tall card instead of a square card.

C4C299Sketch

I stamped the cat image and colored with Copic markers. I then used the coordinating Grumplings in Costume dies to cut her out. I also used a die from Build a Tag 5 to cut a panel from Lavender Glaze cardstock. I also cut a 3 1/4” square from a piece of orange polka dot paper from the Rainbow Brights paper pack.

I stamped a coordinating sentiment on kraft cardstock and assembled all of the pieces using copious amounts of foam tape. I finished with a few sequins from the Build a Scene Halloween TE sequins.

C4C299_AbracDontCare_B_DanielleLounds

So what do you think? I must admit this was one of my favorite grumplings to illustrate. Of course, I say that about all of them! ;)

TE Release Day: You’ve Got Mail–Halloween

Hello, Crafty Friends -

I’m delighted to say that today is release day over at Taylored Expressions. All of the fun new stamps, dies, and accessories that the awesome design team have been sneak peeking are now available for purchase. I must admit that I have a lengthy shopping list myself. I just cannot resist Halloween cuteness!

But first I have another Halloween card to share. This one features the latest addition to the mailbox line of stamps I have been illustrating: You’ve Got Mail – Halloween.

YouveGotMailHalloweenSample_A_DanielleLounds

So, I intended to make a clean and simple card… yeah, that didn’t happen at all! Instead I added almost all of my favorite embellishments: tag, ribbon, jute, washi tape, designer paper, die cuts, and sequins. Even though it isn’t what I intended to make when I sat down I love how it turned out!

I stamped the mailbox on white cardstock and colored with Copic markers. The image was then cut out with the tattered edge tag die from the new Build A Tag 5 die set. I also used the circle embellishment die to cut out a spider from black cardstock. I adhered some jute to his bottom to mimic the look of a spider hanging from a web.

YouveGotMailHalloweenSample_B_DanielleLounds

I used the Little Bits – Ghosts dies from last year to cut out a couple of light green ghosties from Potato Chip cardstock. They kind of look like they glow in the dark. The “trick or treat” sentiment is actually from the new Grumplings in Costume stamp set. I just omitted the rest of the sentiment.

YouveGotMailHalloweenSample_C_DanielleLounds

For more texture I embellished the main image with Glossy Accents and a Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush pen. I may have gone overboard with the foam tape. Just a little bit. ;)

TE Sneak Peeks: Tag-a-long Halloween

Hello! It is another great day of sneak peeks for Taylored Expressions. And I have more Halloween goodness to share. I have oodles of fun making gift bags and tags for Halloween and I’m excited to share that there are a couple new items to help with that.

I collaborated with Taylor on another tag set: Build a Tag 5. I’m always excited to see the final set and what she picked from my ideas and added to complete it (love that spider and tiny tag!). This time around the potion bottles I designed made it into their own little bit set.

Of course, Halloween tags would be lonely without some spooky artwork so the Tag-a-long Halloween set was created. I’m especially happy with the witchy cat so I used him on a tag and some tasty potion bottles on another. Yummy. ;)

TagalongHalloweenSample_A_DanielleLounds

I used the tattered edge tag die (cut from potato chip cardstock) and the stitched arched panel as the main layers of my tags. I also added a strip of designer paper from the Build a Scene paper pack.

To create the gooey partially painted look on the arched panel I covered a piece of cardstock with a sheet of adhesive foil (Ranger) and then die cut. I applied Cracked Pistachio Distress Paint over the panel, leaving areas here and there bare. I then mostly dried it with a heat tool and rubbed off some of the still wet paint.

TagalongHalloweenSample_B_DanielleLounds

The images were stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copic markers. After die cutting with the coordinating dies I used a Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush pen here and there. I also applied some Glossy Accents to the eyeballs in the potion bottle.

TagalongHalloweenSample_C_DanielleLounds

To finish I stamped a sentiment on woodgrain cardstock and then cut out with an 1 1/8” circle punch. Added a few sequins and a length of orange bakers twine.

TagalongHalloweenSample_D_DanielleLounds

So what do you think? Ready to make a few tags for Halloween? I know I want to make more of them!
