Adding doodling to the Bubble Greetings stamp set

Hello everyone -

Hopefully you have been having a good week! I've been a busy worker and a busy crafter. I have some fun cards to share with you this evening that I have been working on this last week.

One of the new stamp sets I illustrated for Taylored Expressions is this fun Bubble Greetings stamp set. The sentiments feature bubble letters that are fun as is or you can add your own flavor to them by adding some doodled details.

I made not one but four cards that each feature a different style of doodle.

The first card features a simple doodle addition: narrow stripes added to the overlapped portions of the letters. Very easy.

Card details: I used Stitched Rectangle Stacklets die to cut out the sentiment and then used Frame in Frame 2 Cutting Plate to cut out a border. I added one of the critters from Quick Critters Stamp & Die Combo as an accent.

I added a few Nuvo Drops for accents here and there. I also used a white gel pen to accent the letters after coloring them with Copic Markers.

For my second card I doodled some itty bitty flowers here and there.

Card details: I thought a bunch of felt flowers were the perfect pair for the sentiment. I used various colors of 100% wool felt from the TE Store and a variety of flower dies from the Bloomers line of TE dies.

What did I learn from this card? Even though I have some pretty colors of felt... I want more! Muhahaha!

For card number three I doodled stripes on each letter, angling them just a bit differently.

Card details: shake shake shake! I think I'll just leave it at that.

For the final card, I added a variety of different doodle styles, making sure to leave the overlapped pieces alone. Just a stylistic choice. ;)

Card details: glitz and glam! I coated the bubble letters first using a Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Pen and then topped with Glossy Accents. I embossed a piece of white card stock with an embossing folder and then heat embossed the raised parts with Platinum Embossing Powder.

After assembling the card I added sequins and Clear Nuvo Drops. A bit disappointed that some of the drops cracked while drying. Grr.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you are inspired to pull out a marker and add some doodling to your next card. :D

Taylored Expressions October Release Day

Hello!

Have you been enjoying all of the sneak peeks this week from Taylored Expressions? Hopefully you have found a few new favorites (or a lot!). All of the new products are now available for purchase.

On a personal note - this is probably the most stamps/panels I've illustrated for a single release. I was crazy busy there for a few weeks and may have worn out my Apple Pencil. ;)

So speaking of new stamps, I have a couple more projects to share today using the new sets. The first of which uses three of the new stamp sets. From the Clearly Planned line I used the Candy Cane Alphabet stamp set to create an embossed background, spelling out "joyful" multiple times. Matchy Backgrounds - Holiday was used on the green panel behind the deer. And the deer is from the new Santa & Friends stamp set.

I don't have any wobble springs... yet, so I stacked a couple dimensions to pop the deer's head up higher than his body.

For my second card I used another Clearly Planned stamp set, Jolly Holidays, to make another fun card. I went simpler on this card and sponged watercolor paper for a burst of color and then added the tree image.

I did learn something very important in making this card... be careful combining Distress Oxide inks (which I used on the background) and Nuvo drops. The drops will blend with the ink as they dry and change color. And that new color? May not be the prettiest. Lol.

Taylored Expressions Sneak Peeks: Quick Critters

Hello everyone!

It is a new month (can't believe it is already October) and that means some sneak peeks of new stamps from Taylored Expressions. Christmas stamps. Lots and lots of Christmas stamps. :D

However, I didn't have a ton of time to play with the new stamps. Why are there always house chores? Especially fun ones like staining the deck. Yes, that was sarcastic. Ha ha. But once the sun set I did carve our some time to make a few tags using the new Quick Critters - Winter Stamp & Die Combo.

These little guys are really cute plain but you can can spice them up with the included scarf and holly images or a bit of twine tied as a scarf. But caution - they are addictive to make. :)

Tag number one features the cute little moose:

Tag number two features the little snowman:

And tag number three features the penguin (and a non-traditional color scheme):

Since I had a bunch of extra critters I used a couple of them to make a quick card:

That's it for me today! For more fun samples check out what the talented design team have created :).

Taylored Expressions Release Day!!

Hello everyone!

I'm excited to say that today is the Taylored Expressions September Release Day! All of the stamps, dies, and other great goodies that we have been sharing with you this week are now on sale!

And of course we have a few more projects to share with you to celebrate!

For my first project I used the new Peek-a-boo Birthday set!

I just had to ink up the cute little cat in the set! :) Couple of quick details: I inked up the background with Distress Oxide Inks and then added a bit of Texture Paste using a stencil. I finished with a dusting of glitter before the paste dried.

For my second card I used the new B is for Birthday stamp set.

I paper pieced the Letter "B" and I layered the balloons several times for extra dimension! For a finishing touch I used a Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush Pen and added some Nuvo Drops here and there.

Thanks for stopping by and have a lovely day!

September Sneak Peeks for Taylored Expressions - Birthday Fun!!

Hello everyone! I'm delighted to share a couple of projects featuring soon-to-be-released birthday stamps from Taylored Expressions!

And guess what? Today is also my mom's birthday so I will have to drop one of the new birthday cards I've made into the mail as soon as possible. I'm so bad! Speaking of, here is my first project - a shaker tag using the new Peek-a-Boo Birthday stamp set and coordinating dies.

A few details on making this tag:
1. I used the Tag Stacklets 3 dies and a circle die to create a shaker tag.
2. The background of the tag was sponged with Distress Oxide Inks using a stencil
3. The "Happy Birthday" sentiment was stamped in VersaMark on black card stock and heat embossed with white embossing powder.
4. Birthday mouse was colored with Copic markers and accented with a Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush pen.
5. Finished accenting the tag with Nuvo Drops here and there.

For my second project I went a bit simpler, using the B is for Birthday stamp set. At least the final result appears simple... I had some technical difficulties with my black embossing powder so there were many rejects before I switched to Gold embossing powder. If you have a favorite black powder let me know... I tried 3 different ones in my collection and they all had issues. Admittedly, they might have been very old. Ha!

A few details on this card:
1. Stamped the image in Versamark on watercolor paper and heat embossed with gold embossing powder.
2. Masked the image and then sponged Distress Ink in two colors.
3. Spritzed the card stock with water and used a paper towel to pick up the ink. This created some nice spottiness.
4. Stamped the sentiment in white ink and then heat embossed with Crystal embossing powder.
5. Finished with some enamel dots as accents here and there.

That’s it for me today! For more fun samples check out what the talented design team have created :).

Daily Marker Challenge - Days 1 thru 3

Hello everyone!

Been a while since I've posted to my blog but that doesn't mean I haven't been crafty. If anything it has been the opposite and posting my projects here falls to the end of the list. However I do post quite a bit to my Instagram account. So if you are ever wondering what I am making or drawing on a daily basis visit me HERE. :) However I will try to post more of my projects on the blog too. Including this coming week as I have lots of sneak peeks for the next Taylored Expressions release.

So what have I been doing this weekend besides fighting off a cold? Playing along with the latest 30 Day Coloring Challenge on Instagram (#thedailymarker30day). My markers were crying for attention as were a bunch of stamp sets I illustrated for Taylored Expressions. lol.

For Day 1:
I used the Adorable Autumn stamp set from the Clearly Planned line and colored pumpkin, apple, and acorn images. I'm especially fond of the acorn.

For Day 2:
I used the Mum's the Word stamp set. Oh Halloween images, how I love thee. ;)

For Day 3:
With my cold knocking me down I needed something with a bit of attitude so I pulled out the Grouchy Grumplings 2 stamp set. Oh yeah, we are soulmates today.

You may have also noticed the colorful tags. Each day I have also been practicing with the Distress Oxide Inks and a few techniques. Love them... and may have the second set of 12 colors on order. :D

Later gators! Check back tomorrow for a sneak peek or two!

Te Sneak Peeks: Out of this World

Hello everyone,

Hope you had a great weekend. I spent some time crafting with a friend and making a couple samples with new stamps from Taylored Expressions (release day is this Thursday).

My first card features the cat astronaut from the Space Cadet stamp set. I was so excited for this little guy to make it into a stamp set. I drew him over a year ago when sketching this idea for the 100 Day Challenge.

I stamped the cat on white cardstock and colored with Copic markers before cutting out with the coordinating dies. I tried my hand at a galaxy background using various Distress Oxide inks, Black Soot Distress ink, and white acrylic paint. It took a few tries to get the look I wanted.

For my next card I used the new My Super Hero Stamp & Die Combo set. This little set has 3 super hero characters and a few fun sentiments. A whole lot of POW is packed into this small set. Hee hee.

Per my usual, I stamped in black ink and colored with Copic markers before die cutting. Lots of bright colors including on the background that was sponged with Distress Oxide inks and spattered with water.

That’s it for me today! For more fun samples check out what the talented design team have created :).

TE Release Day: Just a dose of the grumpies!

Hello everyone!

Are you having a good week? So far I've survived all of the fun storms we have been having in my area. I was a little concerned about the power going out before I could write up my blog posts for this week. I may have waited until the last minute. ;)

Anyways, I'm excited to say that today is the Taylored Expressions March Release Day! All of the stamps, dies, and other great goodies that we have been sharing with you this week are now on sale! It is another great release of fun new products and a few grumpy ones too. Speaking of grumpy I just had to use the new Grouchy Grumplings 2 stamp set to make a grumpy yet cheerful card.

I was excited to see this morose little hippo make it into the set. He's one of my favorites (they are all my favorites - ha!). The set also debuts a couple of other new animals to the grumpy line: owl, goat, and hamster.

And here is a closer look at the hippo. I think his name should be Henry.

Thanks for stopping by and have a lovely day!

TE Sneak Peeks: Matchy Match Goodness

Hello everyone -

I'm excited for today. It is Wednesday which means I'm halfway through the work week and that much closer to the weekend and crafty time. And to make it even better I get to share a couple projects using new stamps and dies from Taylored Expressions!

TE has a new fun line debuting this month. A Matchbox die and coordinating stamp sets: Matchy Matchy and Matchy Backgrounds. These were such fun sets to illustrate.

For my projects today I used the matchbox die to create a matchbox from Toffee and Cookie Monster cardstocks. I used a couple of images I illustrated from the Matchy Matchy set to decorate the box. I also used the small cloud background from Matchy Backgrounds. I made a coordinating card using a similar color scheme.

I'm particularly fond of the squirrel image (those teeth!). And you will also see some of my handwriting in this set.

I kept the card simple and sponged a background using various Distress Ink pads. I justified my Nuvo drop addiction by using a bunch of colors to complement the background. ;)

That’s it for me today! I hope you’ll head over to the Taylored Expressions Blog to check out what everyone else has created for today’s sneak peeks!

TE Release Day: Thankful Blooms

Hello everyone!

Today is the day! Taylored Expressions February Release Day! All of the stamps, dies, and other great goodies that we have been sharing with you this week are now on sale!

And today I am delighted to share another image I illustrated for this release: Bloomin' Background. This was a delight to draw and it is even more fun to color.

To make my card I did the following:
  1. Stamp Bloomin' Background in Jet Black Archival Ink on watercolor paper
  2. Diecut using a die from Stitched Rectangle Stacklets
  3. Color with Clean Color Real Brush markers and a water brush (I scribble on an acrylic block and then pick up color with a water brush)
  4. Accent with a white gel pen
  5. Spritz with a Tim Holtz Distress Marker in Peeled Paint and spritzer tool.
  6. Attach panel to card base with foam paint
  7. Stamp "thank you" from In & Out Thanks stamp set in VersaMark on Granny Smith cardstock and heat emboss with white powder.
  8. Trim panel to size and wrap left side with jute before attaching to card with more foam tape.
  9. Finish by adding a few dots of Nuvo Crystal Drops

Thanks for stopping by and have a lovely day!

TE February Sneak Peek: Peek-a-boo Peeps

Hello everyone -

Have you been having a good week? I am happy it is Wednesday and I can share a peek at one of the new sets I illustrated for Taylored Expressions: Peek-a-boo Easter and coordinating dies. I am especially fond of the bunny. I like big ears and I cannot lie. ;)

For my card I stamped and die cut three bunnies and hats and paper pieced with designer paper. Using the Peek-a-boo Squares die I cut out a frame for the bunnies to peek out from. And because bunnies like to run around I left them unattached.

That’s it for me today! I hope you’ll head over to the Taylored Expressions Blog to check out what everyone else has created for today’s sneak peeks!

Taylored Expressions Release Day: Llove you llots!

Hello everyone!

Today is the day! Taylored Expressions January Release Day! All of the stamps, watercolor panels, and other great goodies that we have been sharing with you this week are now on sale! However, before you head to the store, why not stay for a few and check out a couple more cards that I have made. :D

First up, I used the sweet Llama Love Stamp & Die Combo to make a lovey dovey llama card.

I stamped the llama, coordinating scarf, and sentiment on white cardstock and colored with Copic markers. I used the coordinating dies to cut out the llama and scarf and then adhered them together.
For the sentiment I used the Little Bits - Let's Chat 1 die.

There are lots of layers on this card cut out using various dies. Stitched Circle Stacklets were used to cut out a circle from Simple Stories Winter Wonderland designer paper and vellum, which were layered together. The Frame in Frame 2 Cutting Plate was used to cut a scalloped rectangle frame from Toffee Cardstock and the Stitched Rectangle Stacklets were used to cut out a white panel. The white panel was also run through the Chevron Embossing Folder (love). I used a paper trimmer to cut a panel from black cardstock and an accent strip from green cardstock. Finally I used the Small Scallop Border to cut a second piece of designer paper that was then trimmed to length.

At this point I arranged all of the layers and adhered using a combination of liquid glue and foam dots. I finished up with a few dots of Tonic Studios Nuvo Drops in Glossy English Mustard.

For my second card I used one of the Inspire Watercolor Panels I colored on Monday to make a fun shaker card!

I created a shaker box using vellum, designer paper and the Stitched Frame Stacklets 1 dies. I filled with a combination of white beads and pink/white/gold sequins. It is a subtle shaker but fun. :D To accent the watercolor panel I trimmed a couple strips of paper and die cut a couple tabs using the Bitty Banners dies.

Thanks for stopping by! :)
