TE Release Day: Aloha, Friend!

Aloha!

Today is release day at Taylored Expressions! I hope you are enjoying all of the new products. I have more than a few favorites and a few items on my list to add to my collection. :)

But before I shop myself I have one more sample to share with you. Today I used the new Do the Hula stamp and die combo.

I had a lot of fun drawing this hula girl. She makes me smile, especially her polka dot bathing suit bottoms which are hidden by the grass skirt.

I colored the hula girl with Copic markers and keeping with my rainbow theme this week I colored each of the flowers in her hair a different color. After die cutting I attached her to the card base using a mini wobble spring. Just a tap and she starts dancing!

And if you look closely you will see that I layered her skirt two times for a fuller look. The poor wobble spring is getting a workout!

I kept the rest of the card simple and just used a stencil and circle template to stencil color onto the background using a variety of Distress Oxide inks.

TE Sneak Peeks Day 3: Celebrate Freedom!

Hello again!

For day three of sneak peeks I have used the new Freedom & Fireworks stamp set to create a quick colorful card for the 4th of July. This set would also be great for celebrating birthdays and other special events by just using a different sentiment.

For this card I put away my Copic markers and instead used my Distress markers for a direct to stamp technique. I colored directly on the stamp with different colors of markers. Once the entire image was colored I misted with water and stamped on watercolor paper. Once the image was dry I added a sentiment flag and a few coordinating jelly rhinestones. A bit of die cutting with a Stitched Rectangle Stacklet and the addition of some designer paper finished the card.

TE Sneak Peeks Day 2: Oh Shiitake!

Hello!

Welcome back to the second day of sneak peeks for Taylored Expressions. For today I am sharing a sample using the new Turnip the Beet stamp set. I have a lot of favorites this release but must admit that I really like the shiitake mushroom in this set. He's just so happy! Especially when you color him in a rainbow of colors.

I colored each of the nine shiitake mushrooms a different color using Copic markers and added dots using a white gel pen. I was originally just going to use 6 mushrooms but then decided I needed more colors. Fortunately there is a coordinating die set that makes cutting them out super easy!

For a bit more color I spattered a piece of watercolor paper with a variety of watercolor colors and used it as a background for the mushrooms.

TE Sneak Peeks Day 1: Flirty Floral Fun

Hello!

I have to warn you that I was in the mood for rainbows of color when I made my samples for this release! But that's why you buy all the colors, right? Lol.

For my first sneak peek this week I'm using the new Flirty Floral Background that I illustrated. This background coordinates with the new Do the Hula and Tiki Time stamp sets. However it is also a great stamp to use all on its own as I did on this card... which uses all the colors. ;)

I stamped the background in VersaMark on Sugar Cube card stock and heat embossed with white embossing powder. I then used six colors of Distress Oxide Ink and sponged each one onto the embossed card stock creating a soft rainbow of color. I used a paper towel to wipe the excess ink off the embossed areas.

I wanted the background to shine through so I kept the sentiment small and added a bunch of little butterflies. Each little butterfly was cut from a different color of card stock and embellished with a couple of clear jelly rhinestones. To finish I trimmed the panel to size and mounted on a white card base using foam tape.
