Just a Little Bit of Snow

Sooo... I made this card a while ago and I'm just now getting around to sharing it. Why? Because more of the white stuff is fluttering to the ground outside... so it seemed appropriate. ;)

The stamp is from the uber cute Pure Innocence line form MFT Stamps. I colored her with Copic markers and then masked and airbrushed the sky around her. I added some glitter to the snowballs and the ground... really, snow can glitter! The snow falling tonight is extra sparkly... I noticed that while making the drive home. So pretty, but still not fun to drive in! And to shovel... eek... I'm so not going to think about the state that my front porch is in! It seems that I have accidently on purpose misplaced my shovel! Tee hee! ;)

Twas a Couple Days After Christmas...

And I've finally found time to visit my blog and wish you all a Merry Belated Christmas! Hope your Holiday was fabulous and the upcoming year is the best one yet! :)

I've been a busy little bee the last week or so baking, traveling and visiting with family! It was great! However it did mean that I had very little time for the blog... so I'll share my latest creations with you just a little late. LOL!

The first is the fun one I made using the Holiday Lineup stamp from Stampin' Up! These elves are just so cheery! I colored them with a selection of Copic markers and added just a touch of Fun Flock to the pom poms on their hats.

Well I'm off to putter in the craft room a bit and round up more cards to share.

Toothpick Trees: Gift Tag

Hello everyone,

Are you in the swing of the Holidays yet? I'm not! I'm so far behind... still have gifts to buy, cookies to bake and a couple of gifts to finish making. Oopsie! I better get to work. :) However I do seem to be stuck in procrastination mode which means I made another special gift tag last night instead of working on gifts. LOL!

This tag uses one of my favorite Stampin' Up! sets Merry & Bright. Love those trees! This time I stamped them on Kraft cardstock and colored with Copic markers. I then trimmed the trees and adhered square toothpicks to the backs using Crystal Effects. I did have to trim a bit of length off the toothpicks afterwards. You may be seeing more toothpick trees in the future as I really like how they turned out! Once the Crystal Effects was dry I added a bit of bling using Pink Stickles. Ahhh... nothing like glitter to make me happy! :)

The main snowman image was stamped on Kraft paper and a scrap of white cardstock. I colored the white snowman, cut him out and adhered him over the one on the Kraft cardstock. I added a bit of glue to the bottom of the Kraft cardstock using a 2-Way glue pen and then covered with white Flock. Adds just a hint of snowy ground. Next up I applied Crystal Effects to the hat and scarf and dusted with Dazzling Diamonds glitter. More glitter induced happiness! :)

Hmm... other random notes: the tag base is two pieces of white backing board die cut with the Top Note BigZ die. I inked the edges with Elegant Eggplant Craft ink and heat set. Two pieces of My Mind's Eye glittery designer paper were also cut with the die, trimmed, edges distressed and then adhered over the backing board. For the front piece I used a 1/16" circle punch and punched holes around the tag and then threaded a piece of jute through the holes. The handle is a piece of florist wire that I shaped. It was a bit bright so I colored it with a T5 Copic marker. *The back is plain at this point but I may add a square of Kraft to it with the To/From info.

So what do you think? Is it too much or do you like it? :)

Just Chillin'

Literally! My house feels a bit frosty tonight! If it becomes any colder I am going to turn into a giant snowball. Brr... and since it is cold inside and outside I thought I would share a Frosty card tonight!

This festive snowman is from Whipper Snapper. I colored the image with Copic markers. Some white dots were added to the scarf with a white gel pen. Frosted Lace Stickles were applied to the star. For the fluffy snow on the ground I applied a bit of Martha Stewart Snow glitter. Brr... typing this post has not made me any warmer.

To accent the image I used a bit of blue patterned designer paper from the Autumn mat stack by Recollections. I attached a tag using a small brad made with the ITop Brad Maker by Imaginicse. After assembling the brad I coated it with more of the Frosted Lace Stickles. I used a bit of May Arts crocheted lace and machine stitching to finish up the card. Oh-la-la I do like that lace! Still cold though! :)

Bold Bright Butterfly

I just had to switch gears and make something other than a Christmas card or gift tag. Something bright and cheerful and the exact opposite of cold and wintery! ;) Thus the very bold butterfly.

Of course I'm still having some lighting issues because it is still dark and dreary outside. Boo! So if you look very very closely you might just see that I stamped the background with a leaf like image in VersaMark. Maybe if you squint your eyes a bit you will see it. LOL!

Handle With Care: Gift Tag

How many pictures do you think I took of this project trying to get a perfect one? LOL - way too many. First my camera batteries were dying left and right (time to invest in a new one) and now with Winter's arrival it seems like I have only 5 minutes in the day when the lighting is perfect. Darn short (and very cold) winter days)! I might have to finally invest in a light tent and a couple of lights... either that or just give up on taking nice pics of my projects! ;) Hee hee. But enough grouchin' and on to the project!

This is a cozy gift tag I made... it will find a home on a Christmas gift this year. I cut two circles from light weight coasters using the Large Circle Nestabilities. Just a note: I had to run the Nestie and coaster through the die cut machine about four times before it completely cut through the coaster... back and forth and again - quite the workout. ;) The edges were sponged eith Close to Cocoa Craft ink and heat set. I then glued a slightly smaller circle of glittery My Mind's Eye paper to the coaster (I actually made two of these - the second is used as a back to the gift tag). Added a bit of May Arts ribbon and attached it with jute and a button through a hole I punched in the coaster.

The little house is chipboard from Maya Road. I sponged the house with Bordering Blue Craft ink and heat set. I then stamped a snowflake on it in Close to Cocoa Craft ink and heat set again. I used Bravo Burgundy Craft ink on the heart. I lightly sanded the edges of both pieces and added Frosted Lace Stickles to mimic the look of snow.

A sentiment was stamped in Close to Cocoa Classic ink on Kraft cardstock. The left side was punched with a Ticket Edger punch and the right side was attached to the coaster with a couple of stitches. Next up I punched a bunch of 1" Bordering Blue circles. They were attached to the back of the second coaster and then the first coaster was attached to the second with dimensions (added a loop of ribbon first though). To finish the BB circles were sponged with Close to Cocoa Classic ink and faux stitching was added with a white gel pen.

Yikes... That is a lot of words to describe one gift tag. :)

Popping in late tonight with a chocolate-y confection of a card. I used a non-traditional color scheme of yellow and brown. Nicey nice!

Quick Notes: The vanilla background was embossed via an embossing folder and to accent the snowflake I sewed a button on. Snort... I said these would be quick notes! ;)

Wowsa have I ever been neglecting my blog! Which is very weird considering I do have a bunch of cards to share. Yay! Tonight I did find a few minutes to blog after cleaning, a quick shopping trip and moving a bunch of furniture to make room for my Christmas gift from my dad... a brand new China Cabinet he built for me. I LOVE it so much! It is quite spiffy and I'll have to share a few photos once I get the glass shelves and fill it with a few pretty things! Big thanks to my big bro for delivering it tonight. :)

In the meantime here is a card I made featuring the Christmas List stamp from Unity. I just realived that several of the cards I've made recently have the same color scheme: a light grayish blue, red and dark brown. What is up with that?! Oh, I have not posted the other ones but they'll be coming soon and you will see what I mean!

Quick note: for the ribbon I just overlapped the ends and tied them together with the a doubled up piece of jute. Super simple and quick and a bit flatter than if I knotted the gingham but considering the number of dimensionals that were sacrificed in the making of this card it is still quite bulky. ;)

Happy Thanksgiving! I have a special treat for you today... a turkey treat holder. I had a couple of packs of Reese Peanut Butter cups (which I did not eat!) and thought it would be neat to make a cute wrapper for them.

I started by creating a turkey with the fun Build A Turkey set from Unity Stamp Co. I stamped a tail feather arrangement on Close to Cocoa cardstock overlapping the feathers just a smidge at the base. I then stamped each tail feather on a different designer paper and cut out. I wanted to brighten the paper a bit so I did a little coloring with the Copic markers. Next I adhered the paper to the Close to Cocoa tail base. Hmmm... something was still missing so I inked the whole tail base with VersaMark and heat embossed with Iridescent Ice embossing powder. Sparkle and glitter galore - perfect! I then stamped the turkey body on PTI Select white cardstock, colored with Copics and cut out. I adhered the body to the tail base with dimensionals and added more glitter to the beak area. Okay, that might have been glitter overkill but I was on a roll! ;)

I thought the turkeys ended up extra cute... so cute that I turned them into magnets. So instead of attaching them directly to the candy wrappers I used a metal washer/magnet fastening system. Snort --- I'm sooo technical today! I tried hiding the washer behind the cardstock so you wouldn't see it after removing the turkey but the magnetic pull wasn't strong enough so I plopped it onto the front. Ehh... we all know where that wrapper is going to end up anyways after the candy is eaten but maybe the turkey will be rescued! ;)

Home Snow Home

Is everyone gearing up for the Holidays? Have all of their Holiday shopping done? I am excited for the upcoming Thanksgiving for a couple of reasons: 1.) I have a few extra days off from work and 2.) I'll be visiting some friends and family! Yay!

And yes I am looking forward to the food... especially the turkey gravy. LOL! I've been dreaming of mashed potatoes with yummy turkey gravy the last few days. Oh happy thoughts! :)

Now the shopping? I'm not looking forward to that at all! I have no idea what to get anyone. Nada. Zilch. Zippo! I might have to wait until everyone is in a turkey induced hypnotic state and pick their brains for a few ideas then. Hee hee. If not, I'll be making them some igloos out of snow.... okay, that is lame but I had to tie my card into this post some how! LOL!

I made this last night and it was time consuming... I fiddled with the placement of everything. I like the final result but getting there was a pain in the... well, let's just say it was a trial. ;) I stamped the penguin and igloo then colored and cut out. I added some rolling hills of snow (from naturals white cardstock) with a touch of glitter and used a piece of polka dot designer paper as the sky. Added a bit of stitching, a few embellishments and called it good to go!

Hmm... and on that note I'm off to dream of mashed potatoes with gravy.

When the weather outside is frightful I turn to... a hot cup of cocoa! So when I picked up the sassy Lillith I used on this card I had to add this image to my order too. Just had too! :)

I kept the layout simple but added a bit of oomph with pretty designer paper, machine stitching and a spiral clip treatment. I paired the image with a fun "mmm, chocolate" sentiment from a Whipper Snapper stamp set. I did do something different and added white *freckles* to her checks. I'm debating if I like this look or not. What do you think?

Hmmm... now I think I need a bit of chocolate!

My niece is turning a year older in a couple of days so I HAD to make her a special birthday card. I needed the perfect image and thought this sassy girl from Kraftin' Kimmie stamps was it. I think my niece will find it quite humorous... besides it has a frog and frogs are

neato (which is why I had to buy the stamp and maybe a couple of her friends too)!

Since my neice is a fan of all that sparkles I added a bit (okay a lot) of glitter to the card. However I did not use any pink... I knew I forgot something. Ahh well... all will be well when she opens the card and finds her gift certificate to a certain on-line store that sells books... lots of lovely lovely books! :)

LOL! Yes, I am looking forward to Friday... just a little bit. To celebrate I have this fun squirrel-y card to share with you. I used the Autumn Pals stamp set from Unity and some fabulous designer paper called Nutmeg from Cosmo Cricket (I used the Mini Deck version of the paper).

I kept the layout quite simple and let the woodland scene take front and center stage... as well as that hilarious sentiment (it just makes me giggle). I'm thinking I will have to include a Snickers (peanuts) or Almond Joy with this card when I send it! Tee hee!

Life is a Journey

Do you ever just make a card and then think "Wow, I made that?!" That is how I felt after I finished this card... in particular I just really like how the little scene of the truck driving on a dirt road turned out. I think I need to use my air compressor a bit more when making cards!

Notes: I stamped the trees and then masked them before airbrushing the sky blue and the road brown. I then used Copic markers to color the trees and add additional detail (grass). Next I stamped the truck and boat on another piece of white cardstock, colored, cut out and adhered to the background to create a fun little scene.

To finish the card I added some fun Farm Fresh designer paper from October Afternoon, a few buttons, a length of double-sided satin ribbon and a bit of machine stitching. I umm... added the half circle at the top of the image to cover up a sewing boo boo. Happily I think it works and adds to the card so I'm going to say I meant to do that! :)

Three Little Bears

This is another card I made with one of the new Anna Wight sets released in October (gosh I can't believe it is November already!). I stamped the bear three times and colored with Copic markers. A touch of glitter was added to their bows with a clear Spica pen. The third little bear was cut out and adhered over the first two with dimensionals. I just love these little sweet bears! :)

I meant to post this card yesterday but was sidetracked... baking cookies and handing out candy. Just the important things! ;) So here is a post Halloween hope you have survived the sugar overload card.

For this card I used a couple little ghostie images from an Anna Wight cling set called Spooky Expressions. I stamped them in Tuxedo Black ink and added a bit of blue hi-lighting with a Copic marker. I then coated them with VersaMark ink and heat embossed with Iridescent Ice embossing powder. So they may not cause "eeks" of fear but hopefully they will casuse a few "ooohs" of delight. :)

Hi Peeps, I'm back today with another Prettie Peek at a new set being released on November 1st and another of 'my favorite things!'

These are a few of my favorite things"

For this peek my lyric is: "doorbells". Oh boy, talk about a case of stamper's block with this one! Hee... but after a bit of thought I came up with the bright idea that doorbells are made of metal! AND I have some fun sheets of thin cuttable/embossable self-adhesive metal by Quickutz. PERFECT!

Hmmm... I do believe that Christie and Charmaine may have a few peeks for you today too...

Pretties Wednesday: Keeping it Simple

Today's Pretties challenge was issued to us by Julie! Julie's challenge was to create a card using a clean and simple layout. Oh boy... clean and simple is always so difficult for me but I think I managed it and I only had to rip the card apart one time!

Sadly this is my last PWC challenge post as a Prettie Girl. I had to make the difficult decision to step down from the team at the end of this month. I love the Prettie stamps and have enjoyed working with Christie and all of the Prettie Girls but I've been a little short on crafting time lately (lots of work to do at the Job) and thought it best to cut down on my crafty commitments. This doesn't mean I won't be crafting it just means that there may (most likely will) be times when I need to take a break for a couple of weeks and concentrate on the Job. But never fear... I will be around! :) Oh and for all of you Prettie fans I've heard a rumor that there will be some new talent joining the rest of the amazing ladies on the Paper Pretties design team. :D

If you are wondering my train of thought on this card went 1.) whiskers on kittens, 2.) I have a cat with whiskers, 3.) she's gray and white with a touch of cream and 4.) a bit of blue too since she was a very naughty kitty while I was doing some painting! LOL! I know it is a bit of a stretch but it was the best I had. ;)

Just a Little Kite

Whew, this has been quite a weekend! I decided to finally tackle a project that I've had on my list for quite some time - redoing my craft area (am I crazy or what?!). My fingers are still feeling a bit abused from putting together a few new pieces of furniture and my one cat has a nice little spot of blue paint on her head (somebody snuck in while I was painting)! Still a lot of work to do since I'm painting one section at a time but it will be all worth it in the end. Well... at least it will be pretty! LOL!

While the paint is drying here is a card I made a few days ago. I never did have much luck flying kites when I was a kid but this is what I imagined it would look like on the perfect kite flying day! :)

Notes on the main image: I stamped the Kite and a bunch of the bows on the Spring Rain cardstock. I then drew a line connecting the pieces (although you can't see it after the rest of my changes). I then cut a cloud shape from a piece of paper and used that (the paper not the cut out piece) as a stencit to create a bunch of clouds on the blue cardstock with Whipser White Craft ink. Next I stamped the kite and bows on scraps of designer paper and cut out. This second kite was adhered over the first with a dimensional. I then applied a thin line of Crystal Effects over the kite string I drew and layered a piece of linen thread over it. The CE was perfect to adhere it. Next I adhered the bows over the kite string using more CE (just a bit though!). And there you have it... a cute little kite fluttering over a blue sky! :) I'm really liking how this turned out!

Pretties Wednesday: What screams Halloween?

Bat shaped Pez Dispensers! LOL! Frances has issued a Paper Pretties challenge today to create something for a Halloween treat. I chose to make a fun cover for a packaged Pez Dispenser. The one I decorated is actually a witch but I included the bat one in the picture so you could actually see what I started with. :)

Quick notes: The tag cover is approximately 3 1/4" wide by 6 1/2" tall. There is a 2" foldover at the top. After decorating the front I looped ribbon through two holes in the back, then through the Pez dispenser package topper and finally through two holes punched in the front (set with eyelets). I then tied the ribbon into a pretty knot. I did use more of the fun black pom pom trim - I LOVE this stuff! :)

Yikes... where have I been this last week?! The answer: at work... working. ;) It seems like forever since I have had a chance to post to my blog (much less make a card) but I'm back and I have a cute card (hopefully you agree) to share using another new Anna Wight set called His Favorite Things. I thought it would be neat if the little plane in the set was pulling a banner letting the world know this little boys thoughts on the "soap" issue. :)

When coloring the little boy I added some little dirt stains to his clothes in keeping with the theme of the card. I also sponged all of the cardstock layers inluding him and his little blue plane. Final result... dirty but cute!

Well, I'm off... lots to do and only so many hours in a day. :)
