Feeling Sketcky

Hello Crafty Friends -

What’s mew?  Did you have a great weekend?  I hung out Saturday with a friend crafting. Between talking and eating, I actually managed to make a couple of cards including this little cutie for this week’s Feeling Sketchy challenge:

I did make a little modification by tilting the main panel and offsetting the sentiment a touch.  But otherwise I stayed true to the layout.

For my card I used Kitty Cat Josh and paired him with some bright Lime Twist designer paper.  I’ve been on an orange kick lately.  Must be the very warm weather influencing me!  Since I was crafting with limited supplies I stuck with the basics when it came to embellishing the card: clear rhinestones, ivory jute and a couple of buttons.

Summer 2012 Tags: Hay, Chick!

Hello Crafty Friends -

I’m back with another set of tags in the Summer 2012 Tags series. Check the bottom of this post for details on winning one of these tags and a selection of yummy ribbon.

For this set of tags I switched up the tag shape a bit by using a Sizziz BigZ die so these tags are a bit skinnier than the first two in the series. Of course I offset the skinniness of the tags by adding some fat chickens. ;)

The chicken and sentiment are from the Crazy for Chickens Anna Wight cling set from Whipper Snapper Designs.  I cut out some circles using a Circle Nestabilities die and then layered them on slightly larger circles cut using the Petite Scalloped Circle Nestabilities.  I then stamped and colored the hens and finished by adding some dots of Avocado Liquid Pearls.

I layered a bit of designer paper on Juicy Pear cardstock, stamped the sentiment, and then stitched the edges.  For decoration I added a few rhinestones and then wrapped some twine above the “Hay, chick!” sentiment.  I then adhered all the parts together with foam dimensional tape and finished by setting a jumbo eyelet and adding more of the green twine.

This is my second card today. This time it is for the Wednesday Stamp Club challenge at My Favorite Things.

I do believe this is the first Christmas card that I have made this year.  I had some new Christmas designer paper that I wanted to use and I had recently picked up the Pure Innocence – Holly Girl stamp so it was just meant to be.

I stamped PI - Holly Girl on Choice Snow white cardstock, paper piecing her dress from the designer paper and coloring the rest of the image.  I cut out the entire image (woo… was cutting around the holly leaves challenging) and adhered to the card front using foam dimensionals. ;) 

A sentiment from the same set was stamped on green cardstock and cut out with a die from the Mini Tabs Foursome set of dies.  I also cut a couple of royal roses from Wild Cherry felt.

For my card I used one the stamps from the Girls Just Wanna Have Fun stamp set.  I colored the image with Copic markers and then cut out using a Circle Nestabilities die.  After matting on Candy Necklace cardstock I added stitching using my sewing machine. 
A matching sentiment was stamped on a piece of designer paper and layered behind the main image as a flag.

Here is a picture of the ribbon and twine I used on the card.  There is a touch of Celery Grosgrain with Satin Edge ribbon peeking out from behind the main image.  I also added a bow using my favorite Ivory Jute.

SCRSC84: Celebrate… with Ruffles

I’m here with my take on this week’s challenge from Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps. The theme is: celebration!

I decided to make a birthday card featuring Birthday Cake Emily:

Emily was colored with Copic markers and then cut out.  I added a touch of Glossy Accents to various parts of the image: flower, candles and some frosting.

I loved the ruffles on her dress so added some additional ruffles to the card using sheer box pleat ribbon. ;)

Summer 2012 Tags: Polka Dot Pinwheels

Hello Crafty Friends -

I’m popping in with my second set of tags in the Summer 2012 Tags series. :)  This set focuses more on the die cutting than on stamping and coloring. Well, there is no coloring at all.  Check it out:

The focal point of these tags are pinwheels made using the Pinwheel Parade dies from Taylored Expressions, corduroy brads and toothpicks!  I had some square toothpicks that were perfect for this project.  For a finishing touch I added a bow using ivory jute.

Pretty simple, right?  I just needed to do a bit more die cutting to create the yellow background that I stamped the “congratulations” sentiment on.  The tag is one that I also picked up from the Taylored Expressions store (there are many colors to choose from). 

Lastly, I’ve been playing in Adobe Illustrator lately (prepping to make a new blog banner since something mysterious happened to my current one) and thought it would be fun to make a Blog Candy graphic.  So here goes:

Ribbon Carousel and Bazzill Card Shoppe: Lollipops for All

Hello Crafty Friends -

The Ribbon Carousel team is thrilled to be teaming up with Bazzill today to show off their amazing new card stock! Since today is National Lollipop Day the Ribbon Carousel Crewmates have created some crafty eye candy with this theme!  There are also a bunch of prizes so head over to the Ribbon Carousel Blog for all the details on how you could when some super delicious Bazzill Card Shoppe cardstock.  While there check out the eye candy created by the design team.

But first, take a gander at my sweet project!

I didn’t have a lollipop stamp set to use so instead I incorporated real lollipops into my project.  Yup, the flowers in my box are actually Charm brand lollipops that I covered with pink fabric using Brown Sugar Divine Twine.

After creating my lollipop flowers I needed a container to hold them so I created one using Cotton Candy cardstock.  It measures 7” wide, 3” deep and 2 1/2” tall.  I did create an insert for the inside that I punched holes in so that the lollipops and pinwheels would stand straight instead of falling all over the place.  And this cardstock is so fantastically thick that the box feels very sturdy!

Once the box was assembled and the lollipop flowers were in place I decorated the box using more Cotton Candy, Candy Hearts, and Candy Bar cardstock as well as some pretty Carta Bella designer paper and Soapstone Vintage Seam Binding.  A stickpin, a sentiment and a few rhinestones finished the outside of the box.

For the inside of the box I added a couple of pinwheels using more of the Carta Bella designer paper and lollipop sticks.  I wanted to cover up the insert and I didn’t have any of the shredded paper you can buy for gift baskets so I used a piece of quilt batting… nice and poufy! ;)

Summer 2012 Tags: Meow Kitty

If you have been following my blog for a while you probably know that I really really like making gift tags.  A lot.  Last fall I did a series of Christmas Tags and once all of the tags were posted to my blog I picked a random commenter to receive a set of them.  I thought it would be fun to do that again just without the Christmas theme this time.

So, over the next couple of weeks I will post six different tags and once all are posted I will pick a winner.  Just leave a comment on one of the posts to be included (you can comment on all of posts for more chances).  There may be some other goodies included with tag prize package… perhaps some ribbon! ;)

Without further ado, here is the first set in the series:

These little cuties feature the Cattitude stamp set from There She Goes clear stamps.  I used a couple of different cat images and two different sentiments.  So each tag is a tad different from the others.

There is a lot of little details on these tags.  I layered more of the Nostalgia designer paper that I used on yesterday’s card on Candy Bar cardstock, notched the corners with a Corner Chomper and then added stitching with my sewing machine.  Stitching around the notched corners was a bit… awkward.  I won’t be doing that again. ;)

I’m a big fan of Pom Pom trim so I added some (using a mini stapler to attach in place) and then layered a sentiment flag on top with foam dimensional tape.  To finish I added a few rhinestones along the bottom and then added Brown Sugar Baker’s Twine to the top of the tag.

On the tags that used the image of the kittens in a basket I doubled up the kittens for extra dimension.  Here is a side shot so you can the detail:

For my take on the sketch I used the A La Modes – It’s Getting Deep stamp set and some pretty Nostalgia designer paper (I love the colors used in this paper!).

I did oodles of stitching and used a button and a few rhinestones to accent the main image.  As usual I colored the main image to match the designer paper.  I almost always pick out the designer paper I want to use and then color.  A lot easier to make everything matchy-match that way. :)

Blog Hop with the Ribbon Carousel and Sparkle Creations

Two of my favorite companies are joining forces for a blog hop today so I just had to participate!  I do so love me some ribbon from the Ribbon Carousel and I’m quite the collector of Sparkle Creations stamps so this was an easy challenge for me!

For my card I used Ukulele Josh and Perwinkle Dual Striped Twill ribbon.  Josh was stamped twice, once on Choice Snow White cardstock and a second time directly on a piece of designer paper.  I colored some green grass on the designer paper and colored the complete Josh image stamped on the white cardstock which I then cut out and adhered over the first using foam dimensionals.

You can see the dimension of the main image in the shot below.  As well as the ribbon treatment – a flag with a single pleat held in place using a crystal brad.  Fun… and not to froufrou! ;)

RCC62 Color Me Happy

It is time for another Ribbon Carousel Challenge and this week I get to do the challenging! You might have noticed that I love the the new Bazzill Card Shoppe Cardstock so it shouldn’t be too much of a surprise that I decided to pick a few of my favorite new colors and issue a color challenge!  The challenge is based on the below cardstock colors. However if you don’t have the new Bazzill cardstock feel free to play along with whatever cardstock you do have.

The colors: Cotton Candy, Lollipop and Easter Grass.

I decided to make a set of tags for my project today. I new of just the perfect image to use on them: the new Retro Girl 01 from Birdie Brown.  Torico draws the cutest images and I just had to have this one as soon as I saw her.  I think it is the pose – she looks so mischievous! ;)

I printed our four copies of the image, sizing them to be about 2 1/2” tall.  Once printed I colored with Copic markers and then cut out.  I used a green Copic Spica pen to add glitter to her earrings and shoes.  I finished by adding freckles using a white gel pen.  Not really freckles… more like shiny spots since freckles aren’t usually white.

I used some of my favorite dual striped twill ribbon as an accent and finished the tag with some Green Apple Baker’s Twine.
