C4C229: Tricks

Hello! Time for another crazy challenge: Crazy 4 Challenges #229. With April Fools just around the corner we want you to make a card that features a trick!

I made a get well card that when opened features a pop-up! I used the A2 Card with Circle Label Pop-n-Cut die (Sizzix) and Mini Butterflies Movers & Shapers to cut out the card inside.

If you take a close look at the pop up you will see that I cut out a butterfly and then backed the opening with a piece of acetate. Through the opening you can also see some pink designer paper (Pebbles).

The pup, flower, and sentiments are all from the Watson set by Taylored Expressions. Cute set – perfect for cheering up someone feeling under the weather.

Blooming Blocks

Hello -

So I jumped onto the ATB – Artist Trading Block – bandwagon and ordered some of the cube ScoreBoard dies from Sizzix (Inspiration Emporium is carrying them). I just couldn’t resist after seeing the amazing projects that designers are creating.

For my first try I used one of the smallest cubes as a base from some flower pots and flowers. Take a look…

Just right for Spring! The flower pots and flowers were cut using the Bloom Where You’re Planted die set (Taylored Expressions). I used Peeled Paint and Pumice Stone Distress Paints as well as Diamond Stickles to add some texture to the flowers.

The cubes, after being cut out and assembled, were painted with Scattered Straw and Mustard Seed Distress Paints. Once dry I added pieces of Happy Go Lucky designer paper to each side.

I stamped a couple of sentiments on green cardstock that were cut out using the Fly Your Flags 2 die (Taylored Expressions). For a final touch I added Letterpress Block embellishments that I grunged up a bit using Distress Paint.

So what do you think? Fun?

C4C228: Happy Trails

After my last couple of projects I thought you might like to see a simper card. One that has plenty of pretty designer paper. I made this fun card for this week’s challenge at Crazy for Challenges: #228 Anything Goes – just make a card! It is so easy that I just know you will play along.

I paired the Happy Trails stamp set with the Into the Woods designer paper pad; both are from Lawn Fawn. I based my layout on this week’s Retro Sketches challenge: #106.

I kept it simple but did add a touch of Glossy Accents to the car windows and added some to the little hearts, as well as a dash of glitter.

For more fabulous samples, head over to the C4C Blog! Below are links to the Inspiration Emporium for some of the products that I used.

This is a Happy Life

Oh, to be a cat and nap all the time. That is the life. Even if you do have to put up with an obnoxious human who keeps waking you to take a picture. ;) Heh heh.

I pulled out one of the shadow boxes I bought a while back to decorate. It’s about 8” wide and 10” tall. I took a few good pictures of the furniture decorations (aka, the cats) a couple weeks ago so I printed one of those using my Selphy printer. Trimmed to size and added Magoo in Label Letters.

To start, I took a piece of corrugated cardboard and cut to size. I peeled off the top layer of the cardboard in places to expose the ribbing. I then applied a layer of Modeling Paste – leaving a few spots bare and really piling it on in other spots. After letting it dry for a day I dry brushed white gesso over it; again leaving some spots bare. Once dry I sponged on some Broken China Distress Paint in a couple of spots using the Tim Holtz – Burlap Stencil.

Now for even more fun. The green/teal panel is actual the piece of watercolor paper that I used to soak up the extra Dylusions ink when I made THIS CARD. I embellished it with a Life Quotes Remnant Rub (which I also used in a few other places), some tissue tape, orange ribbon, a small piece of mini film strip, mini clip, and a wooden clothespin. I also added a few black enamel dots (Pebbles).

Along the bottom of the layout I spelled out “cat” using Letterpress blocks. I added some Spiced Marmalade and Broken China Distress Paint to the letters. I also smeared some here and there over the entire layout, including the picture of Magoo.

At the top right, I added a Label Pull, the “happy” is a remnant rub. There is also some tissue tape and another rub. For a final touch I added a mini clip to the picture and a big fabric brad. Also tucked behind the picture is a small envelope made from grid paper.

Let me know what you think. Especially if you would like to see more projects like this one. After all, I do have another cat and I’m sure she is jealous of Magoo getting all of the spotlight.
