C4C238: Celebrate!

Hello sweet visitors!

It is time for another challenge from the crazies and this week we are challenging you to be inspired by your summer plans! Going on a trip, hanging at the beach, gardening, chilling at home? Whatever your plans let them be your inspiration for your project this week. For more details on the challenge and to see what the rest of the team created, head over to the Crazy 4 Challenges Blog.

So, I plan to enjoy the warm weather while it is here (winter was so long) so I am going to celebrate and maybe plant some flowers and stuff. Although at the moment the few flowers I have purchased are sitting on my deck dying from neglect. I so need to water them. ;) And then repot them into bigger planters. Weekend project!

For my card I went with a simple look, and used an image from the Botanicals 2 – Paper Smooches set. I stamped the leafy/flowery branch in Distress Ink three times on white cardstock. In particular I used Spun Sugar, Worn Lipstick, and Festive Berries colors. I heat embossed a sentiment from Bold Buzzwords – Paper Smooches in black.

For embellishment I just added a few enamel dots and some ivory jute. Easy Peasy!

CC3C: Faux Tea Rose Technique

Hey peeps -

I decided to play along with another Compendium of Curiosities 3 challenge and make some flowers using the Faux Tea Rose Technique. These are so pretty… maybe I should make these more often instead of buying premade flowers. :D

There is a fabulous prize this week, a $50 gift certificate to the Inspiration Emporium online store. Awesome sauce. So head over to the Linda’s blog for all of the details and to see some ah-mazing artwork.

I made three of the flowers using some pretty purple cardstock. I also die cut some foliage from green cardstock and chipboard. The chipboard pieces were painted with Peeled Paint Distress Paint and then coated with Glossy Accents and dusted with Rock Candy Distress Stickles Glitter.

For the tag I started with a regular manila tag and painted it with Dina Wakley Turquoise Acrylic Paint. Once dry I sponged some Peacock Feathers Distress Ink here and there using the Tim Holtz Burlap Stencil. I stamped a sentiment from CMS155 Simple Sayings multiple times using Coffee Archival Ink. I then attached the flowers and foliage using Glossy Accents.

I thought the tag good use a bit more texture so I added a bit of Film Strip Ribbon using the Tiny Attacher. I then took a Butterfly Adornments that I grunged up with a bit of Lime and Turquoise Acrylic Paints. I toned down the brightness by sponging with Distress Ink once the paint was dry. The final touch was spritzing here and there using a Mowed Lawn Distress Marker and the Tim Holtz Spritzer.

Finished the tag with a bit of purple seam binding and attached to a goodie bag using a colorful clothespin. Hope you enjoyed this little project!

C4C237: Besties

Hello! It is the weekend and I have an extra day or so off from work so it is a nice long weekend. Yay! Maybe I will get caught up on a couple of projects around the house? Or maybe not. LOL. First project of the weekend is my take on this week’s Crazy 4 Challenges challenge.

And it is a great one to use the following color scheme (one of my favorites!):

I did sneak in a bit of other color in the background behind the monsters. I’m so bad! ;) Speaking of that background, I created it by flipping over the die cut panel and adhering washi tape over the opening. This means the sticky side will be facing up after flipping the panel back over. I then applied Fine Clear Distress Glitter to the sticky washi tape to create a colorful glittery background.

The little monsters were paper pieced with some designer paper and trimmed. Remaining white spits were colored with Copic markers. The monsters and the matching sentiment are from the Love Monsters stamp set from Taylored Expressions. I used a square die and the Gift Card Frame die (also TE) to cut out the turquoise panel. Sentiment was stamped on a chat bubble that was cut out using the Delightful Day Conversation Bubbles (TE).

I’m in love with the Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush so after assembling the main panel I gave the monsters a quick coating.

I also spattered the kraft background with a bit of Fresh Lime Dylusions Ink Spray. A few black enamel dots and some sewing finished the card.

Birthday Balloons!

Hello! In keeping with this month’s Inspiration Emporium Challenge I have another celebration card. I’m always in need of a good birthday card (especially belated ones) so this will be a nice addition to the collection.

The other day I was tempted to place an order for some sequins even though I already have a nice selection of colors. I showed some restraint and didn’t place the order. Instead I challenged myself to use some of the ones I already own. Of course, after making a few cards with them I can justify ordering more styles and sizes. Right? LOL.

On this card I used a variety of the sequins in a glassine envelope to add some texture and fun to the card. I love it so much that you may see some similar projects/ideas in the near future. Well, if the ideas on my sketch pad actually get implemented.

The balloon from CMS154 Mini Blueprints 4 was stamped twice on watercolor paper and watercolored using Distress Markers. I picked up some Wink of Stella Glitter Brush Pens recently, so I had to use the clear one to add a bit of shimmer to the colored balloons. Nice!

For a touch more texture I heat embossed the sentiment from CMS155 Simple Sentiments using Terra Cotta Antiquities Embossing Powder.

Let me know what you think. I always enjoy reading your comments!

Bold Birthday Butterfly

Hello hello!

I have a delightful card to share with you today. It features some of my favorite things: butterflies, glitter, and some technique-y goodness!

First up – this is my entry for the latest Compendium of Curiousities 3 Challenge to use the Distress Glitter Technique. In particular I used the technique on the pretty butterfly die cut. Oh glittery yumminess. I highly recommend getting a copy of Tim’s book and playing along. There are some ah-mazing prizes (this week’s sponsor is the Funkie Junkie Boutique) and well, it is just all around good fun.

Talking about techniques, see that big black heart? I used a the Large Heart Stencil and Black Embossing Paste from the Studio 490 Wendy Vecchi line to add the heart to some off-white cardstock. I love the texture it adds.

I don’t usually double up on challenges on a single card but I also made this card for the Inspiration Emporium challenge this month: to celebrate. It doesn’t get much easier than that! I went with a birthday theme for my card and used a sentiment from the Lawn Fawn – Birthday Tags stamp set. Again, I highly recommend playing along. Still plenty of time and there is a great prize, $50 to spend in the Inspiration Emporium store. You can get all the details HERE.

That is it for me today. Hope you are all having a fabulous weekend!
