For my project today I decorated a box that can fill with goodies for a friend who is feeling under the weather.

I used the Sniffles & Snuggles stamp set and stamped on watercolor paper and colored with Sakurai Koi Watercolors. I covered the sides of the box with some strips of designer paper (Teresa Collins) and the edges of the lid with a bit of washi tape.

The top of the box was covered with a white doily and then I added a bit more texture with some jute, brown striped grosgrain ribbon, and another strip of designer paper.

Finished with a small clothespin and a few light gray enamel dots. All ready to be filled with cold fighting goodies!

Crackled Treat Bags

Hello, crafty friends -

I mentioned in a previous post that I was ready to move on from Halloween projects… so how about some festive treat bags? Never too early, right?

I was inspired by the latest Compendium of Curiosities 3 Challenge to use the Colored Crackle Technique. Specifically, I used the technique on some chipboard pieces I cut out with dies from Sizzix. And before I forget, there is an awesome prize this week from The Funkie Junkie Boutique.

I started with a glassine bag that I filled with Mint Dove Chocolates. I taste tested a few to verify that they were still as good as I remembered. And then a few more for quality control. ;)

To keep the bags closed I used red and white twist ties which I built the decorations around. I sandwiched them between black cardstock and Snowy Day designer and stitched around the edges to secure them in place.

Next I embellished the crackled pieces with a bit of designer paper (which was stamped with a “joy” sentiment) and a little sisal tree. I attached them to the main panel with foam tape and embellished with a few sequins and a bit of washi tape.

For a final touch I added a Season Chitchat sticker.

And if one treat is nice, four of them are even better.  Mmm.. I think I need to taste test a few more of those chocolates.

It is time for another sketch challenge at SugarPea Designs and this is another fun one. I think this may be one of my last Halloween/pumpkin cards for a while.  Maybe until next year. Lol. For this skinny card I used the Bountiful Blessings stamp set.

C4C259: Spooky Good Time

Hello, crafty friends – took me a couple of extra days but I have my take on the latest Crazy 4 Challenges challenge: C4C259.

This week we want you to use the following picture for inspiration:

I loved all of those little pumpkins in a row so I incorporated that into my card by using the pumpkin from the Critters in Costume stamp set (Taylored Expressions). Each pumpkin was paper pieced with a different pattern of designer paper.

Built a sentiment from painted foam letters and label letters and embellished the card with a few fibers and sequins.

Little red fox

So this morning I had to scrape frost off the windows of my car. Why oh why did I not invest in a remote car starter? Maybe that will be an xmas gift for myself this year. Lol. It was also a reminder that winter is not that far off. Time to stock up on hot chocolate, buy gas for the snow blower, maybe invest in a new pair of winter boots, and work on a stash of cute cards to cheer up a friend with the winter blahs. And what is more cheerful than a cute red fox? :)

I used one of my illustrations from the Ready, Set, Snow set (Taylored Expressions) to create this somewhat rustic card. One quick tip: the sentiment originally arched up at the ends but I made it do the opposite when mounting on an acrylic block. The stamps are flexible enough to do that when they are narrower.

The fox was stamped a second time on another piece of white cardstock, colored and cut out, and adhered over the first using foam tape. That just makes him stand out a bit more. I embellished the scene with some white enamel dots.

For a bit more texture I added a little metal paperclip, some jute, and brown striped grosgrain. All in all, it is a simple layout but the embellishments make it look more complex.

C2C258 Aw nuts!

I’m back! How about a punny birthday card this time? I used the Party Grumplings stamp set and just a few embellishments to create this card. Super simple look to this one.

Love this squirrel – think I really nailed the grouchy/sneering look on this guy. To offset his grouchiness I added little butterflies. I picture him thinking “I’m so grouchy I’m sprouting butterflies”. Ha!

Merry and Bright Mailbox

Hello, Friday! Hello, weekend!

Had a busy week at work doing some intensive learning so I’m ready for a couple days off. And since I have a long list of crafty projects to work on I need to hunt down my inner crafter and put her to work with stamps and inks. Lol.

My first project for the weekend is this card I finally finished up tonight:

I used the new You’ve Got Mail – Christmas (TE) stamp to create a merry xmas card. Paper pieced the trees and the bow and colored the rest of the image with Copic markers. Added some White Liquid Applique to the white portions. For the little ornaments on the tree I used a white gel pen to color them and then applied Glossy Accents and a dusting of glitter.

Kept the rest of the card clean and simple. Just added a sentiment from Many Minis – Holidays (TE) and cut it out using a little frame from Shopping Bag and Labels die set (TE).

You are moovelous!

Hello, friends.

How about something simple, cute, and punny? I knew you would say yes. The Inspiration Emporium is now carry some of the Mama Elephant line of stamps and dies. I just had to give some lovin’ on the cute critters form the Cosmic Stars set.

In particular I thought the Taurus image was moovelous (marvelous with a bit of kick-butt cute moo-ness). I didn’t have the perfect sentiment so I built one using the Violet’s ABCs stamp set from Lawn Fawn and some Label Letters stickers. A little background for the cow, some enamel dots, and a bit of washi tape and I was done.
