I can’t believe that the month is almost over. This year is flying by fast… probably even faster than this crazy bird can fly:

Lol. Bird Crazy is one of those sets that has been on my shopping list from the minute I saw it. When I finally acquired the set I had fun coloring up a few of the birds with Sakura Koi watercolors. This fellow was my favorite so I turned him into a cheerful card.

Watercolor Bloom

Hello, Crafty Friends -

I hope you are enjoying the holiday weekend. I’m in the process of moving and my craft supplies are all packed. However I did plan ahead, a bit, and made a couple of cards to share with you. Including this pretty water colored thank you card:

I just love this bloom from the Flower Garden set and thought it would look delightful colored in pinks, oranges, and yellows. I used my trusty Sakura Koi watercolors and a water brush to color the image. In full disclosure… this is my second attempt. The first one didn’t turn out the greatest. ;)

Once dry I added a bit of glitter to the flower center and along the leaves. And a few sequins.

I didn’t want to detract from the bloom so I kept the layout very simple and used a lot of white. I die cut a sentiment flag and stamped the “thank you” from Simple Sayings on it in Archival Jet Black ink. I punched a hole in the one end and tied a bow using a bit of baker’s twine.

Happy Everything

Hope you are having a great week. The month is just zipping by but I did find time to play along with this month’s Inspiration Emporium challenge to use paste. Easy peasy and you can find all of the details on the challenge HERE. There is a great prize and we’d be delighted to have you play along.

For my card I paired some Texture Paste with a stencil and gold embossing powder. I LOVE the final look. So much squishy gold goodness.

To duplicate the look, start with a piece of cream cardstock and tape a stencil to it. I used the Tim Holtz Typo Stencil and I also like to tape the stencil in place so that it doesn’t shift. Next apply some Texture Paste, completely covering the piece of cream cardstock. While still wet, remove the stencil and then cover the paste with gold embossing powder. Tap off the excess powder and heat set with a heat tool. Tip – don’t hold the heat tool in one spot too long or the paste will puff up too much.

To decorate the the main panel I used the Think Happy Thoughts stamp/die set from Taylored Expression. I die cut the happy multiple times and adhered them together with Glossy Accents. I also coated the stacked die with Glossy Accents for more shine. I used a couple of Heirloom Roses (Idea-ology) and a white paper flower for decoration. The “everything” sentiment was stamped in Emboss It! ink and heat set with more of the gold embossing powder.

Just a gnote… from all of us

Hello,

Pulled out the new Under the Toadstool set I illustrated for Taylored Expressions to make a quick note card. I stamped a row of gnomes and colored each one with Copic markers, using different colors for each hat. A few sequins and a couple strips of designer paper and I was done.

C4C286: Bright Blooms

Hello Crafty Friends -

Last week while my mom was visiting I attended the Great Lakes Mega Meet in Novi, MI (a large scrapbook show). I didn’t buy a lot but I did pick up a couple of stamps sets from the Stampers Anonymous booth including CMS215 Flower Garden. This set has been on my wish list for a while.

New stamps need inking and this week’s sketch challenge from Crazy 4 Challenges was the perfect opportunity to showcase one of the pretty flowers in the set. You can find all of the details on the challenge and more fabulous samples HERE.

I did take a bit of artistic license with the sketch and added a second flower. Coloring one flower with Sakura Koi Watercolors was fun, coloring two was even more fun. For a little extra oomph, after cutting the flowers out, I added some Shabby Shutters Distress Glitter to the centers.

The designer papers used are from Taylored Expressions. I also created my own custom background paper with a few quick steps. First I stamped the Graph image from CMS185 Graph & Croc in Forget-me-not Archival Ink on watercolor paper. Next I added some soft color to the background using Sakura Koi Watercolors. Once dry, I splattered the background with a bit of Peeled Paint Distress Stain Spray. Just a bit of work but I love all of the texture!

So what do you think? Pretty? Just to warn you, I will be using this set again. Already made a second card using it. :D
