Winner and Some Turtle Fun

Hello -

How was your weekend? Mine was quite good and even better since I have Monday off too. :D I found a bit of time to make a couple more cards including this belated birthday greeting featuring the Turtle Trio stamp set from Technique Tuesday.

For this card I created an ocean-y background using Tim Holtz Alcohol Inks and Distress Paint.  I used two colors of alcohol ink: Pebble and Mermaid to create the base for the background. Then I flicked some Distress Paint here and there for more texture. I have to admit I've had these inks for quite a while so it is cool to see them becoming more mainstream. I may even have to pick up some of the new colors. :D

For the turtle I colored with Copic markers. I also stamped his shell a second time and cut out so I could pop it up with dimensionals.

I also promised to share the winner for the Technique Tuesday giveaway. Time flew this weekend so I am behind on posting this! I gathered all the entries from here on my blog and on my Instagram posts and used a random number generator to pick a winner. It was julievirgo from Instagram! Thank you to everyone who entered and left lovely comments!

Have a great weekend and I'll be back soon with another project.

Happy Birthday, Cheeky Chicken

I'm back with another chicken card featuring Technique Tuesday stamps. Today's card features the new Cheeky Chicken Stamp Set. This set has some very humorous (and edgy) sentiments that are perfect for that special person in your life.

For my card I stamped the chicken multiple times in a light brown ink on Kraft card stock. I then colored each chicken a different color with Prismacolor pencils and blended. I highlighted each chicken with a white gel pen.

Added a sentiment, jute, and a few enamel dots to complete the look.

Thanks for stopping by!  Also, don't forget that I am doing a giveaway this week. Check out THIS POST for the details!

*Disclaimer: the wonderful folks at Technique Tuesday provided me with the stamps used on this card.

Chicken in with a Giveaway

Hey peeps -

How was your weekend? I spent mine snowed in for the most part. That meant I had lots of time to work on some crafty projects when I wasn't outside moving snow from one spot to another. Yay for a snowblower that actually started. ;)

Speaking of projects I'm sharing a couple of fun chicken cards using stamps that the awesome folks at Technique Tuesday sent me. They know a cute critter just speaks to me!

For my cards I used the new Chicken Family Stamp Set and coordinating dies.

I just love the rooster in this set. He's a delight to color. I used a warm yellow and orange palette to color his feathers. I added some Glossy Accents and a fine crystal glitter here and there.

I also used the little chick image from the set to make a patterned background. There is also a little "CLUCK" die included in the die set. I cut that out several times and layered them together to make a little accent.

I mentioned that I liked the rooster image, right? So much so that I used it a second time. This time I went for a cool tone on the card. I'm not sure there are real chickens with blue feathers but... artistic license.

Again I accented my fine feathered friend with Glossy Accents and fine crystal glitter.

I hope you enjoyed these cards made with the delightful Chicken Family Stamp Set. And if you do, here is your opportunity to win the set (or one of the other Animal House stamp sets)! The wonderful peeps at Technique Tuesday are sponsoring a giveaway. Read all the details below.

Taylored Expressions February Release Day

It is release day for Taylored Expressions! Have you enjoyed the sneaks? Do you have a long list of must haves? Maybe there are a couple items I have illustrated on that list. :)

I was quite busy with my pen for this release: Bubble Greetings - Spring, Floral Frenzy, Happy Mail, Quick Critters - Spring, Boxed in Basics 2, Frame Worthy Easter, and Watercolor Panels Easter. I'd be delighted to know if you have a favorite! One of my favorites because it is a bit different from my usual style is the Floral Frenzy stamp set.  I used it to make this card:

I stamped a bunch of the outline images in black on white card stock and then stamped the fills in a variety of colors. After die cutting the florals they were adhered to a white tag, along with some jute, using foam tape and liquid glue. I embellished with a bunch of moonshine sequins and added a ribbon topper.

The rest of the card is a matter of layering designer paper and white card stock. I did add a layer of vellum that was embossed using an embossing folder. It doesn't show up the greatest in the pictures but in real life it adds a lot of oomph to the card.

Thanks for stopping by! Make sure to visit the TE Blog if you haven't already to see more great samples and to find a list of designers sharing more samples!

Taylored Expressions Sneak Peeks: Quick Critters - Spring

Hello everyone!

I'm hopping in today with a sneak peek of a new set I illustrated for Taylored Expressions. We are adding to the Quick Critters line of stamps and dies with a few new characters for Spring: bunny, duck, and lamb.

For my card today I used the bunny image to make a cute Easter card.

These little guys are indeed very quick to cute and stamp. And all I needed to do to complete them was use a marker to color the nose a pretty pink (I also added some Glossy Accents). Super easy! Add some card stock, designer paper, ribbon, and enamel dots and I was done. Well, there was also a bit of die cutting. ;)

That's it for me today! For more fun samples check out what the talented design team have created :).
