Friends to the End!

Hello Everyone -

How better to ring in Friday then with a bit of sarcasm? I've used the Sarcasti-chick Stamp and Die Combo Set and the Sarcasti-chick's Closet Stamp Set to create a shaker card. Sarcasm and shaking - sounds like the perfect match. ;)

I stamped the images in black ink on white card stock and colored with Copic markers. I then die cut the images and assembled the chick.

For the shaker background I applied Ranger Alcohol Inks to a piece of Glossy White card stock. To create the shaker I die cut a circle into white card stock and layered a piece of green card stock cut using the Inside Scallop Circle Stacklets. I then added acetate and foam tape to create the shaker element. Filled the shaker with sequins and beads and attached the alcohol ink background.

Finished the card with a sentiment, jute, and a few light green Nuvo Drops (I showed restraint on this card and only used three dots!).

That's it for today. Any questions just let me know!

So Very Thankful

Hello Everyone,

Are you all surviving the work week? Only a couple more days until the weekend. For which I am very thankful. :) The weekend is when I catch up on things - crafty projects, cooking, cleaning, and sleeping. How about you?

Speaking of crafting projects I used the new Bubble Greetings - Thankful Stamp Set to create a colorful Thanksgiving card. I know a rainbow isn't a traditional color scheme for the holiday but I couldn't resist. I had to use all the colors!

After coloring I attached the panel to a yellow card base and added a scallop frame cut out using the Frame in Frame 2 Cutting Plate. The designer paper was a bit thin so I cut another frame from dark brown card stock and matted them together before attaching to the card base with foam tape.  To finish I accented the image with a white gel pen and Glossy Accents.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great day!

Too Cute to Spook

Hello Crafty Friends -

Have you ever had to redo a card? More than one time? Today's card is relatively simple but I botched it a couple times. My coloring and die cutting were spot on but then I embellished and things went so very wrong. There was the weird composition with bats in the wrong places and then there was the Nuvo Drop catastrophe. I should have stopped at three dots but then I added more and more of them. The dots took over and multiplied. Lol. Needless to say I took a break and redid the card later... and hid the Nuvo Drops. ;)

My card features the new On the Edge - Ghosts Stamp and Die Combo. I stamped these little guys in VersaMark using a stamp positioning tool and then colored with Prismacolor Pencils. Once finished coloring I put the image back into the stamp positioning tool and re stamped with black ink. I like to do this so that you get nice crisp black lines. If you stamp in black first and then color the pencils will overwrite the black lines. For a final touch I used a white gel ink pen to color in the teeth.

I then die cut the image with the coordinating die, stamped the sentiment and a bat, and attached the panel to a light grey card base using foam tape. I added just a bit of designer paper and stamped a couple more bats. To finish I added a few sequins - no Nuvo Drops on this last attempt!

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you have a splendid day.

Bibbidi Bobbidi Booze

Hello Crafty Friends,

I'm back this morning with another card featuring my favorite sassy chicken - Sarcasti-Chick Stamp and Die Combo. I paired her with images from the Sarcasi-chick Halloween Closet Stamp Set to create a very pink fairy godmother.

My little fairy godmother was stamped in black and colored with Copic markers. I paper pieced her dress with a bit of designer paper and paper pieced her crown using some gold shimmer card stock. After assembling all of the pieces together with liquid glue and little foam dots I added a few pink jelly rhinestones. I also coated the bottom layer of her dress with a clear glitter brush pen. A fairy godmother needs her bling, right?

The background was created using Faber-Castell Gelatos (I use THIS SET which can be found on Amazon). I used a few different colors and scribbled them on a craft mat and spritzed with water. I then smushed my white card stock into the colors picking them up. I did this multiple times until I was happy with the look. Other than the background I kept the rest of the card simple and added a pink frame die cut with the Frame in Frame 2 Cutting Plate and a bit of black polka dot designer paper.

Thanks for stopping by and may your day be a bit magical. And if not magical... perhaps a little sassy and sarcastic. ;)

Rainbow Hello

I've been sharing quite a few cards using the newest release from Taylored Expressions. However today I am throwing it back to a release or two ago when I didn't have time to use any of the new stamps. Horrors!

One of those stamp sets is the Chevies Background. This and the Tetris Background aren't my normal style of illustration but I like to change things up once in a while. That and I really wanted some fun patterns to color. :D

Today's card is all about featuring the new background and using the delicious new Liquid Watercolors that Taylored Expressions released in June.

I stamped the background in Versamark and heat embossed with white embossing powder. Once cooled I used a variety of the watercolors to create a rainbow of color. Once dry I painted over each colored area with the Shimmer Liquid Watercolor.

To finish the card I used the Hello Script Die to cut a couple pieces of white card stock and the Hello Script Backer Mixed Media Die to cut a piece of Caramel Drizzle 100% Wool Designer Felt. I also stamped a sentiment form the Friendly Phrases Stamp Set on a scrap of dark brown card stock and heat embossed with with embossing powder. I used a Double-ended Flag Stacklet Die to cut out the embossed sentiment.

I assembled all of the pieces together and attached to a piece of vellum cut out using a Stitched Oval Stacklet Die.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a lovely day!

The Witch Is In

Hello again -

I'm excited about today's post. My card today uses a fun new interactive element from Taylored Expressions - On a Hinge die. It's a small die but a fun concept when paired with the new On a Hinge - Wicked Stamp Set to create some witchy swinging legs.

Taylor has a great video HERE showing how to use the hinge and stamp set together.

For my card I used the skirt image and one of the leg images. I colored the majority of the images with Copic markers but paper pieced the fabric of the skirt with a scrap of designer paper. I kept the rest of the card simple and just die cut black polka dot paper with a Stitched Rectangle Stacklet Die and cut a piece of Lavender Glaze card stock with the Frame in Frame 2 Cutting Plate.

To finish the card I added a sentiment stamped on vellum in black and a few orange Nuvo Drops here and there.

Here are the legs swinging to the left.

And swinging to the left.

This is quite the fun card! I can see making many of these cards in the future. Hope you enjoyed today's project and I'll be back soon with more inspiration!

Spider Legs Tag

Hello Crafty Friends,

Before I share my project I have a quick question for you. Do you like black licorice? I have to admit to a weakness for it and black jelly beans. My only problem is that it dyes my tongue a funky blue/black color. But it is worth it! ;)

And even if you are not a fan of black licorice I suggest picking up a bag to use with the new Pick Your Poison stamp set I illustrated for Taylored Expressions. It makes perfect spider legs.

The new set was designed to work with the potion bottles Taylored Expressions sells but the images are also great on tags. For my project today I used the spider legs image and a coordinatinng sentiment to make a spooky tag for a bag of black licorice. Look at that black licorice. Yum!

The oval images in the stamp set can be easily cut out using the Stitched Oval Stacklets. The tag layers were cut out using the Build a Tag 3 Die Set. For the sentiment I used a circle punch.

I stamped the image in black ink and colored with Copic markers. I highlighted the "spider" with a glitter brush pen and coated wth Glossy Accents. The label was embellished with some orange baker's twine and a few orange jelly rhinestones.

Thanks for stopping by! Check back later this weekend for more Halloween fun on my blog.

No Regrets

Hello crafty friends -

Sometimes you just have to live life without regrets... especially when it involves Chocolate Fudge Brownie ice cream. ;) And I think the friendly critters from Fluffy Friends know exactly what I am talking about.

I paired two new releases from Taylored Expressions to create a #noregrets card. The first is the new Fluffy Friends Stamp Set featuring a quartet of extra fluffy forest critters. The second set is Binge Worthy that includes all of those tasty treats that are difficult to resist.

I used images from both sets to create a little scene. I also used the Set the Scene - Clouds Stencils Strips and Distress Oxide Ink to create some fluffy clouds behind the bear. A little strip of green designer paper grounded the scene.

Added a sentiment stamped on vellum and a frame die cut from dark brown card stock. Another piece of designer paper and some Nuvo Drops finished the card.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a delightful day and #noregrets!

More seahorse greetings

I shared with you a sweet seahorse card a little while back. I'm delighted to say that I have two more cards featuring the Simon and Sandy Seahorse stamp set from Technique Tuesday for you to enjoy. These little guys are a delight to color - especially when you ignore the laws of nature and color them purple or pink. ;)

This time around, instead of watercoloring the backgrounds I used watercolors from Taylored Expressions to color the seahorses. I'm still learning so it took a few tries before I was happy with the results. So very purple!

I wanted a simple but bright card so I sponged white card stock with various Distress Oxide inks. I lifted just a bit of color by sprinkling with water and then blotting with a paper towel. I finished by cutting the background out with a stitched circle die and stamping a sentiment.

Assemble on a white card base with foam tape and finish with some crystal sequins.

For my second card I went even simpler to let the seahorse shine. This one features a simple white card base and a sentiment stamped on a flag.

After assembling I stamped a few starfish in pink and added a few light purple jelly rhinestones. To finish I coated the fins of the seahorse in Glossy Accents.

You say 'witch'...

Hello crafty friends -

Have you seen the new release from Taylored Expressions? There are so many greet new sets and products that range from sweet to spooky to downright sarcastic. What's even better is when you can combine spooky and sarcastic into one feisty chicken, aka the Sarcasti-chick!

I had a ball illustrating the original Sarcasti-chick images and had even more fun drawing little Halloween outfits for her to wear. And it is always fun to see the sentiments that Taylor and team coordinate with the images. Lol.

So as soon as I had some free time (Taylor has been keeping me busy with my drawing pencils) I had to pull out the new stamp sets and create a card.

I used two stamp sets: Sarcasti-chick Stamp and Die Combo and Sarcasti-chick's Halloween Closet Stamp Set.  I colored the chick and her outfit with Copic markers and cut out with the coordinating dies. When dressing the chick I used glue and thin foam dimensionals.

I also stamped a sentiment from the second set on card stock and cut out with Stitched Oval Stacklets.

For the background I used one of the new stencils, Scattered Stars Stencil, and inked up white card stock using a rainbow of Distress Oxide Inks. For more fun I added a bunch of jelly rhinestones in matching colors. Blingy!

Thanks for stopping by! Hope you enjoyed this evening's dose of spooky sarcasm. I may have a few more projects to share in the near future featuring this little chick. :)

Swimming by with birthday wishes

Hello fellow stampers!

Hopefully you are having an enjoyable summer and staying cool when it is hot outside. Maybe sitting in front of the air conditioner, or having a popsicle, orntaking a dip in the water? And speaking of water I have a cheerful card featuring the new Simon and Sandy Seahorse stamp set from Technique Tuesday and a watery background.

I used the smaller seahorse image from the stamp set and stamped three seahorses. I colored them with Copic markers in a palette of citrus colors and added a bit of glimmer and Glossy Accents to their fins.

For the background I painted watercolor paper with watercolors and let dry. I then splattered the paper with a bit of paint for more dimension. After cutting and assembling the card I stamped a sentiment on vellum and added it and a few dots of Nuvo Drops here and there in a variety of colors.

Thanks for stopping by! You can find more fun animal images at Technique Tuesday HERE.

Hope you enjoyed my card for today and if you need to cool down might I suggest a citrus-y sherbet. Lime is especially delicious. ;)
