Technique Tuesday and Wow! Embossing Powder Blog Hop

Hello everyone!

I'm delighted to start this weekend with a fun blog hop! Technique Tuesday and Wow! Embossing Powder have partnered for a 2 day blog hop featuring a talented group of designers and great products. Stamps, dies, and shiny stuff?! Yes!

I made a couple cards featuring the Dreamy Dragonfly Stamp Set, Dragonfly Crafting Dies, and Wow! Embossing Powders.

For my first card I wanted to mimic the scene of a dragonfly over water. I used some alcohol inks in a variety of colors over Yupo paper to create a watery look. A few flicks of gold here and there completed the background.

The dragonfly focal point was stamped and heat embossed in Metallic Gold Rick Pale embossing powder (I really love the tone of this gold) on white card stock. Once cooled I used the Dragonfly Crafting Dies to cut out the dragonfly. I used a sentiment from the same stamp set and heat embossed in Primary Blue Topaz embossing powder on white card stock. Once cooled I trimmed to size and cut the end in a flag. At this point I assembled the card using a lot of foam tape and then accented with a few clear sequins.

So, I wasn't quite ready to put away this delightful stamp set so I made another card. The more the merrier, right?

This time I stamped the same dragonfly in a variety of different colors. And then I kicked myself because I don't have a sparkly clear embossing powder like Neutral Ultra Shimmer. It would have been perfect embossed over the stamped images. Next time...

Once the dragonflies finished drying I die cut each of them. Since I used a thinner white card stock I die cut more dragonflies from a thicker white card stock. I then layered them together to create sturdier accents. Those wings are not going to be bent out of shape! Lol.

I stamped another sentiment from the Dreamy Dragonfly Stamp Set on white card stock and heat embossed using the Metallic Gold Rick Pale embossing powder. Just look at that shimmer!

For a final touch I used an embossing folder on vellum to add some subtle texture to the background behind the main panel.

Hip Hop Bunny Wants to Party!

How's the crafting going for everyone? I've been a busy bee this last week and have something to share! I pulled out the Hip Hop Bunny stamp set I illustrated for Taylored Expressions to make a some what quick card.

I say some what quick because the stamping and layout are very simple. However it took time to add a border of Nuvo Drops in a variety of colors to the die cut circle. I don't want to admit how many bottles I own, but it's enough to make me wince when I see them sitting there unused. But after this card I feel satisfied. Now I just need to resist the urge to buy more of them!

Thanks for stopping by! Hope you have a great day.
